Chapter 1: Your not the only one..now.

She awoke with a pounding headache, if you could call it that. The top of her head hurt, also the sides of her face. She shook her head, she could hear loud voices around her. She slowly opened her eyes. Glazed over dark blues looked at the ceiling. She was laying on a soft cot..but where? She leaned up and looked around the room. She was in Kaede's hut, but why? The last thing she remembered was waking up InuYasha, because she sense an evil aura.

 

The voices in her head became louder..at least it sounded that way. A stray lock of hair fell infront of her face, she lifted a clawed hand to brush it behind her ear. Wait. She looked at her hands, claws!? 'I have claws?!' She screamed to herself.

 

The girl lifted her hands to cover her ears, she didn't feel anything before! At that moment she bolted out of bed and started to check her body. Her ears were gone! 'I wonder what else I have!' She patted down her body, looking for a tail, wings or anything else she could think of. In frustration she bit her lower lip, only to discover she had fangs, and that hurt like hell! She yelped at the sharp contact, totally forgetting that she had no ears that she knew of, and was hearing voices. She frantically looked around the room, for someone to tell her what the hell is going on! She growled to herself in frustration...hold on, she could growl? She closed her eyes and concentrated on the voices out side the hut. As long if she was hearing voices, she might as well listen to them, maybe atleast they would know what the hell is going on with her!

 

 

"I wonder when she's going to wake up."

 

'Hold on that's Sango's voice!' Her mind screamed frantically.

 

"I do not know."

 

'Miroku?'

 

"Will you both shut up! Your giving me a headache, when she wakes up, she wakes up."

 

'InuYasha, he will know what happened to me, he was there before I passed out!'

 

"But what if she wakes up, and doesn't remember? She will be confused and scared."

 

'Naw, really? I sometimes wonder if the Monk states the obvious for fun.' She rolled her eyes. She was getting very irritated at this point. No one was giving her something to work with! She had never been this scared and pissed in her life! She didn't think she had ever felt this way before!

 

"I think someone should stay with her, just in case she wakes up."

 

'A little too late for that, isn't it Sango?!'

 

"Yes, my dear Sango, I believe that it is a great idea. I think our Hanyou friend should take the first watch."

 

'Oh crap! If InuYasha is coming in here..no I can't let him see me like this! I have no ears! I must look hideous! He..I..oh Kami what's wrong with me!?' She looked around the room to see if anything could help her. She looked back at the cot, if she was asleep, he would get bored and go away right?

 

 

"Feh!" InuYasha jumped out of the tree he was resting in, of course before Monk and Taiji showed up and started talking. He was sore after the battle with that..woman. He didn't let the others know he was hurt. Kirara and Shippou knew. They had youkai noses, but they also knew that the Hanyou didn't want anyone else to know, for he would have told them. His side had been pretty much ripped to ribbons, along with his back. Four, what appeared to be claw marks, started in the middle of his stomach and curved upwards and around his back to his left shoulder blade. They were pretty deep, and wide for that matter. He could probably fit his index finger in and between the flesh. Yeah, that would be something nice to try. He sighed heavy and walked into Kaede's hut. After she had injured, or what could be considered an injury, they all brought her back to Kaede's. They had no idea what happened, how it happened, or how she would react. The Hanyou silently prayed that she wouldn't be mad with him.

 

He walked into the hut to see the young girl faking being asleep. He frowned when he had entered the hut find that it totally reeked with the scent of her fear. He walked over to her sleeping form and sat beside her. He knew she wasn't asleep, he had watched her sleep too many times for her to be able to fool him. He would be in some near by tree when they had stopped for camp to 'keep watch.' But the only thing he was watching was her.

 

He watched her chest rise and fall. Her breathing was slightly labored. She had an emotionless expression over one, that was disturbed and fearful, her breathing also matched the expression. He laughed inwardly, she must have run to the futon. He knew he heard her moving around in here. But when she was asleep her breathing was always even, and she had the most innocent expression. He decided against making her lay there, she would sit him into week if she found out later.

 

He touched her soft cheek with the back of his knuckles, he didn't want to end up scratching her. Even though she would heal almost instantly, from a superficial scratch like that. "Kagome, wake up. I know your not asleep." His ears plastered themselves to his head when he heard her mutter. "...what the hell is wrong with me." Little did he know, that all she knew is that she had no ears, but she did have claws and fangs. "...um...you..last night, changed," he choked out. He smelled the salt of her tears and heard her start to sob. She hated herself now, even though she was just like him. Maybe she didn't like him like he thought she did. Maybe she loathed him, just as she loathed herself? Did she hate him? Only used him to get the Jewel Shards, because she was the one who broke it, and she couldn't get them herself? He closed his eyes tightly. His mind was buzzing with those hurtful questions. "I'm sorry your like me...I'm sorry."

 

~~~*Flash Back*~~~

 

 

"InuYasha, I sense an evil aura. I don't think it's a youkai...it's human?" She had been laying by the camp fire, snuggled up against her adopted son Shippou. She was awakened from a very nice dream of InuYasha by an over powering evil aura.

 

She was really surprised that Miroku had not woke up...well he really didn't 'go to sleep' originally. He was knocked out by Sango, for grabbing her ass.

 

Kagome was still in her pajamas, not that it mattered, really. She was just in a plain white shirt, with a pair of baggy sweat pants. She grabbed her bow and her quiver full of arrows and walked to the base of the tree, InuYasha currently inhabited. She looked at him a raised an eyebrow.

 

"Well, if it ain't a Youkai, I ain't going after it."

 

"InuYasha, this thing is very evil, it may be connected to Naraku. He has used humans before..." Kagome said dryly. Not only that, she had already gotten ready to go, and the baka didn't say a word the whole time. "If you weren't going to go, then why did you just watch me get ready?" She snapped.

 

"Well, come on then," InuYasha jumped out of the tree he was once again resting in and offered her, his back.

 

"What about the others?"

 

"Keh, me and you will do just fine, if it's human." He rolled his eyes. "You didn't even try to wake them before either wench."

 

She glared at him and sighed. She was not going to win this one so she settled for the next best thing. She placed her bow and quiver over her shoulder. "Your right." She put her hands on his shoulders, and pushed off with her feet and wrapped her legs around his waist. She put an iron grip on his shoulders as he took off at top speed. "You want to get this done quick, ne?" she laughed.

 

"Keh." InuYasha flew through the trees effortlessly. He went through the trees, leaping from branch from branch. Oh gods how he loved it when she rode on his back. Her legs wrapped around his waist, her breasts on his back. Even with the wind in his face, he could smell his Kagome. Her scent was torture. It was a constant reminder of her, and yet a reminder that he couldn't have her. He was just lost in her scent, until they came upon a shocking scene.

 

InuYasha stopped and let Kagome off his back, and softly pushed her behind him and they hid behind a tree, listening to every word. Even if it was evil, they better see what's going on, then do something. Wouldn't want to attack and morally bad person, when they did nothing wrong...at the moment.

 

 

"You fail me again?" The voice said dripping with venom.

 

"Y-yes m..master..I'm..s..sorry..." the little youkai coward at the woman's feet. It was alittle weasel demon, brown fur, the works.

 

"Why do I let you live?" she laughed. That was a question that couldn't be answered, she just wanted to see him squirm. Her black eyes pierced through the Youkai currently begging at her feet.

 

"I....I'm sorry.."

 

"Too late for that!" She lifted her hand and waved it over the youkai, turning him to dust with a scream. "Pathetic little creature."

 

 

InuYasha and Kagome leaped from behind the tree, but not in time to save the poor weasel youkai. He probably did nothing wrong considering the woman's person. "Why did you do that?!" Kagome yelled.

 

"He failed to find me an herb I wanted. If he cannot find an herb, he is not worthy of me, therefore I disposed of him. All youkai are to be killed anyway, they are abominations to this world. Since they are here, I might as well make use of them." The woman laughed. She was in the traditional Miko attire, similar to Kikyou's. It was black on black, instead of the white on red. She had long black hair tied in a loose pony tail, the end reaching the middle of her back. She gripped a staff in her right hand, it looked just like a 'walking stick' but it had an aura of its own.

 

"Shut up! Who are you!?" the Hanyou yelled back. He was very tempted to kill her now, she had basically insulted him. He was part human, but also part Inu-Youkai, making him an Inu-Hanyou.

 

"I am Suniko, I am a Dark Miko. Not that is any-" Suniko was cut off by a real, very pissed off, Miko.

 

"You admit that? You are the one who is an abomination! You are evil and wicked!" Kagome screamed, letting her pure, pink aura flare. She couldn't believe this woman! Hurting that poor little defenseless Youkai, just because he couldn't find an herb! The herb probably didn't even exists. Kagome was not having any of this!

 

"Hahaha, what of it? Leave me be, I do not wish to waste my time on a Hanyou and a weak Miko," she turned around to walk away. An evil grin appeared on the woman's lips, she gripped her staff and turned around. A dark purple light flew from the tip of the staff, flying at InuYasha. She was going to purify him!

 

"InuYasha!" Kagome screamed, she leaped for him, hitting him with her body weight. She knocked him over onto the ground, laying ontop of him. She would have enjoyed this, under different circumstances. She quickly stood up and nocked an arrow and aimed it all the laughing Dark Miko before her. "Don't make me kill you!"

 

InuYasha scrambled to his feet, muttering how he didn't need a pathetic humans protection. He truthfully was grateful, he didn't see it before it was too late. He drew Tetsusaiga, transforming the regular kanta into a huge fang.

 

"You protect a youkai? Oh, I'm sorry, a Hanyou. That's even more disgusting." Suniko laughed, she narrowed her eyes at Kagome, and her laughter faded away with her smile. "If you protect a Hanyou, you might as well be a Hanyou!" The Dark Miko's eyes went totally black, as she started chanting a spell.

 

Kagome couldn't move her body, as she was lifted into the air, surrounded with a purple glow, from Suniko. InuYasha leaped for her, only to be thrown back by a barrier. Thank Kami it wasn't one that would purify, it probably took a lot of energy from the Dark Miko to be able to do both. "InuYashaaa!!" Kagome screamed in agony, she closed her eyes tight. Her human ears slowly disappeared, being replaced with black dog-like ears, identical to InuYasha's. She opened her mouth with another scream, to reveal fangs that were forming inside her mouth. She involuntarily spread out her fingers, as her finger nails started to grow into claws. She exhaled and went limp, after the transformation.

 

InuYasha sheathed Tetsusaiga and watched in horror, he couldn't do a damn thing to save her!! He was not going to risk killing Suniko, and might kill Kagome in the process. What ever she had just done to her, could be fatal if she was abruptly stopped. "Kagome!" he screamed as she stopped glowing, and started to fall to the ground. He leaped under her, and caught her in a tight embrace.

 

He sniffed her frantically, trying to see if she was all right. He quickly checked her over before setting her down at the trunk of a near by tree and turned around snarling at the woman. "I will rip you a new one bitch!" He bared his fangs at her and clenched his fists at his sides, his knuckles turning white.

 

"I would like to see you try." She watched him check on his little Miko...oh, actually his Hanyou now..she smirked and started chanting again. A large youkai appeared infront of her, a bat youkai, nice. It's red eyes stared at InuYasha, and dove for him.

 

InuYasha reacted fast, unsheathing Tetsusaiga and aiming it that that nasty bat demon. "Kaze no Kizu!" InuYasha yelled as he cut his sword in the air, a wave of demonic energy flew at the bat youkai. It flapped its wings and was able to tone down the brunt of the attack. InuYasha leaped for it, only to be caught with its large claws in his stomach, and twirled around to his back, then smacked into a tree. InuYasha staggered to his feet, and gripped Tetsusaiga and attacked it again, along with Suniko. The blade looked like it was covered in crystals, but actually was kongouseki. (diamonds) "Kongousouha!"

 

Hundreds of the diamond shards and some of them large spears, flew from Tetsusaiga. He smirked when he found his attack had worked, basically mutilating the bat youkai, and piercing the Dark Miko to a tree, with a very large spear like shard directly through her chest. She died with her eyes open, only if she really had live with her 'eyes open' she wouldn't have suffered such a fate.

 

He sheathed his sword and picked up Kagome. He hoped she would see herself that way when she woke up. He took her back to camp as fast as his legs permitted him to, carrying the young woman bridal style. 'Forgive me...'

 

 

~~~*End of Flash Back*~~~

 

 

A single tear trickled down her already tear stained cheek. She looked InuYasha, who at the moment looked like he was on the verge of tears himself. He kept staring at the floor, and a small whimper passed through his lips. "InuYasha, are you okay?" she leaned forward and hugged him to her chest. "InuYasha? What's wrong?" She had never see him act this way, it was really scaring her!

 

"I'm sorry. I didn't protect you, and now...you..are like me..you must hate me for letting it happen." InuYasha choked out.

 

His eyes almost rolled into the back of his head when she started to rub the base of his furry ear. "I could never hate you, I kinda like being a Hanyou. With the exception that every thing is quiet louder than before." She laughed. "You..you mean you like being a Hanyou?" Kagome nodded to his question and smiled brightly. "What color are my eyes, and ears." She laughed "I can't really see them." InuYasha let a very small smile grace his lips. "Your eyes are a dark amber, I think. And your ears are black." 'Beautiful' He silently thought to himself. "I wonder if there is something in here that you can look at yourself in. Help me look wench if you wanna see it." InuYasha mumbled. He saw her silent acknowledgment as she nodded her head.

 

They both stood up and looked around the room. With in the matter of minutes, InuYasha found a metal scrap of something and brought it to Kagome. He held it up for her, as she gazed into the 'mirror.' "Is..is this really me?" a weak "yeah" came from InuYasha. "This..this is so incredible. More than incredible, this is a wish come true!" As InuYasha's own dog ears picked up her last sentence, he dropped the metal scrap and hugged Kagome tight to his chest. Which earned him a blush by a very confused Kagome. "I can't believe your not mad. I would have welcomed a thousand 'sits' from you." What was he doing!? He just hugged Kagome! He had promised himself that he wouldn't do this! He was supposed to protect her, not create danger for her. The humans would hate her, and the Youkai would hate their pups. 'Yeah...but she ain't no human now is she?' He thought. 'It still doesn't matter! She would still be in danger if I...'

 

Kagome hugged him even tighter. She lifted her head, and licked his cheek. He released her and backed up. Once she realized what she just did, she started to mumble her apologies while blushing furiously.

 

She just licked him! Was he the only sane person in this world!? It was like every thing she did was pure torture for him! One...beautiful torture. Okay, not liking where this was going.

 

InuYasha started to chuckle, which in return was given a low growl. "That's an Inu thing, you will find out that you will be doing strange things, compared to your previous human personality." Kagome looked at InuYasha wide eyed. She just remembered something. "What about the Jewel Shards and Naraku? If..I'm a Hanyou, I won't be able to sense the Jewel Shards?" She started to freak out when she saw InuYasha's expression change from happy to sad. "When you were knock out after the change, the Jewel Shards in the bottle around your neck started to taint. Kaede says it's because you were unconscious and you couldn't focus. She thinks that if you try, you can still keep the Jewel Purified. As for why you can't sense the Jewel is because Miroku put a seal on the bottle, just in case if you wanted the Jewel shards, that you won't sense it." He explained.

 

"Oh, okay. Well, now that I have seen what I look like, lets go see everyone!" Kagome flashed a smile and took InuYasha's clawed hand, in her own and led him out of the hut. She all but dragged him out of the hut. InuYasha was wide eyed, and had no clue what had gotten into Kagome and not to mention himself!

 

"Kagome! Your awake!" Shippou ran from one of the village children, and leaped in his adoptive mothers embrace. "Yeah, and I am glad to be as well," she laughed.
