Chapter Four: Shanihyou

"What do you mean, you old geezer!?" InuYasha's fist connected into the old Youkai's head.

 

"Er..what was I talking about?" Totosai scratched his head and looked at the group. He sat in the middle of the cave. He looked nothing more than an old man, with exception of his huge eyes.

 

InuYasha growled and raised his fist, to hit him again. Kagome grabbed his hand and pushed it down back to InuYasha's side. "What do you mean?"

 

"Ah, see InuYasha! You should learn from the pretty lady..." Totosai laughed nervously at InuYasha's snarl. "I'm not sure if I can create her a sword. She was not born a Hanyou, so I can't say that I will be able to make her a sword."

 

"Can you try Totosai-sensei?" Miroku pleaded. Sango nodded.

 

"I don't see the harm in it..." Totosai looked at the Miko Hanyou and grinned, and scratched his head. "But, I will have to have your fang."

 

All the happiness Kagome was feeling blew out the window. Kagome's smiled faded, as her eyebrows drew together. One of her fangs? Was he serious? He was going to have to pull out teeth? "Uhh..."

 

"If you don't want the sword...." Totosai trailed off. That would get her for sure.

 

"Will..it grow back?" Kagome silently prayed to the Kami's that it would. She could just imagine it...her..missing a tooth. She shuddered at the thought, in an attempt to push it away.

 

"Well yes, you are a Hanyou. I say you will have it back in a few hours.." Totosai reassured her.

 

"Fine...just make it quick.." Kagome grimaced at the thought. She fisted her hands at her sides so tight, her knuckles turned white. She slowly opened her mouth wide and closed her eyes tightly.

 

Totosai got up from where he was sitting and retrieved his tool. He waddled over to Kagome and placed the tongs around her right fang. He jerked hard and flinched at her high pitched yelp.

 

InuYasha snarled and grabbed Kagome and pulled her against his chest. A low growl emanated from his chest, meant to soothe her. He knew exactly how that felt. Kagome rubbed her jaw, and whimpered.

 

Totosai held her fang in the palm of his hand and set it in a bowl. "Now, out with you all. I must work in peace!" Totosai shooed them off, even going as far as making his point with his hands.

 

Miroku and Sango bowed and turned to leave out of the cave. InuYasha and Kagome walked out of the cave, behind them with Shippou and Kirara in tow.

 

Totosai waited till they left and chuckled. He knew this young girls fang would make a wonderful sword.

"I can't believe that bitch!" Kouga shouted, as he paced back and forth in his cave. He snarled at the thoughts of her yelling at him. Kagome and InuYasha, and their whole group were going to pay. 'No one disrespects me like that and gets away with it!' He fumed.

 

Ginta and Hakkaku watched their leader as he paced the floor. They didn't want him to hurt their 'sister', but it didn't look like Kouga was going to back down. The tribe knew that Kouga wasn't going to mate Kagome from the start. Actually, they all wanted him to mate Ayame, the red haired ookami princess from the North. No one would dare tell him so, but now, he knew.

 

Kouga walked over to his bed of furs and sat down. He was just going to have to think of a plan. A thought suddenly passed through his mind. A wicked grin appeared on his face, Ginta and Hakkaku cringed. Nothing good could come from that look.

"I bet you that old geezer fell asleep! It shouldn't take this long!" InuYasha pouted and planted himself on a boulder and glared at the cave.

 

"InuYasha..." Kagome chided. "It's only been a couple of hours. Tetsusaiga took three days." The Miko Hanyou rolled her eyes. She was sitting with her legs crossed on a boulder acrossed from his, Shippou in her lap. "Baka.." Shippou grinned.

 

"Why...you..little.." InuYasha growled. "I'm counting to three..and you better be gone by the time I'm finished." InuYasha said through his fangs.

 

"Then I have all the time in the world, that's if you can even count to three..." Shippou laughed.

 

"Shippou!" Kagome yelled. "That was NOT nice! Apologize, now!" Kagome thumped him on the nose with her index finger.

 

Shippou rubbed his nose, and mumble. "...sorry.."

 

InuYasha just rolled his eyes and continued glaring at the cave.

 

"I agree with Kagome-chan, Shippou. That was not very nice, it was very mean in fact." Sango scolded the Kit as well. Miroku nodded.

 

Hours had come and gone since they arrived at Totosai's cave. Lava and fire pits surrounded the cave, so every one had opted to sit on a boulder, rather on the ground. InuYasha's patients were on a thin line. Kagome exhaled and thanked the Kami as Totosai strolled out of his cave, heading toward them.

 

"About fucking time!" InuYasha growled. He stood up and jammed his hands into the sleeves of his haroi.

 

Totosai was carrying an object, which was hidden from view. The item was wrapped in a white cloth, it reminded Kagome of a Western tradition called 'Christmas'. She was dancing on the inside, she would bet almost anything, that, that was her sword.

 

"Ah, where is the pretty lady?" Totosai looked around.

 

"Uh, right here," Kagome waved her hands in front of herself, catching his attention. Everyone was behind Kagome, peeking over her shoulder at Totosai. Well, except for a certain silver haired Hanyou, clad in the Fur of the Fire Rat robes. He stood beside her, with his hands jammed in his long sleeves.

 

Totosai scratched his head with his free hand. "Oh! There you are!"

 

InuYasha growled. "Just get on with it, dumb-ass!" Kagome sighed, and smacked him upside of the head. InuYasha shook his head and stared at her, like he had never see her before. "Is this my sword?" The Miko Hanyou asked sweetly.

 

"Yes, this is Shanihyou." Totosai handed her the long object, wrapped in the cloth. Kagome bowed and took the sword. Now she really felt like it was Christmas. She slowly unwrapped it. "Oh my!" She let the cloth float to her feet, as she held up the sword.

 

"Beautiful Surprise, ne?" Miroku added. "That is very fitting." Sango smiled and nodded. "I agree, Shanihyou is perfect for you Kagome!" Shippou, who was perched on Miroku's shoulder agreed as well. "Yeah, Kagome!"

 

Kagome had a huge smile on her face, as she looked at the sword in her hands. Her sword. The swords sheath was a beautiful silver, with a pink tassel from the edge of the hilt. She slowly unsheathed the fang, as she finished unsheathing it, she held a large fang in her hands. It was not as big as Tetsusaiga, but it was still a beautiful sword. A soft pink aura enveloped the sword. Both Youkai and Miko energy were a part of the Shanihyou.

 

InuYasha hid his smile. Kagome was fascinated with Shanihyou. She clutched the sword tight in her hands. "My fang was defiantly worth this sword." She said softly.

 

"Oi, Totosai, what attacks does the sword have?" InuYasha asked.

 

Totosai had a big smile on his face. Most likely due to the fact his work with Shanihyou was flawless. "Er...what?" He looked at InuYasha with a stupid look on his face.

 

InuYasha was about to hit him when Sango spoke up. "What InuYasha means is, what can the sword do?"

 

"Ah, see InuYasha, you should learn manners from the pretty lady!"

 

Miroku shot him a dark glare, and Totosai backtracked. "Er...well, I don't know. She will have to figure that out. But I do know that it will not attack anyone she does not wish to attack. Say if you are battling a Youkai and one of you is in the way, she can attack without having to worry hurting the other. It is a wonderful piece of work if I do say so myself!"

 

Everyone looked at Totosai, pretty much shocked. Not too much about the sword's abilities, as what he said. Totosai usually acted as if he was senile. "Okay, thank you very much Totosai-sensei." Kagome smiled warmly and bowed.

 

"Welcome, now off with you all. I know you all have some place to be." Totosai yawned and started walking back to his cave.

 

"I think he's just tired." Shippou mumbled.

 

The group exchanged glances and shook their heads.

 

"Kirara!" Sango called. Right on cue, the a huge two tailed fire cat landed beside Sango. Kirara had a smaller form. She used her demonic form when traveling or in battle. Kirara came up to Sango's shoulder. She smiled and scratched her ear before boarding her. Miroku walked around Kirara, talking the hand that Sango offered him.

 

*SLAP!*

 

Everyone looked at Miroku and rolled their eyes. Sango was currently shaking the sting out of her hand, with her nose in the air. Miroku had a goofy grin on his face, including a new hand print. 'Damn! Why can't he just hold my hand for once, and not my ass!?'

 

"Monk, stop playing grab ass and lets get going!" InuYasha glared at Miroku, then knelt down offering Kagome his back. Kagome wrapped her arms around his neck, and pushed off with her foot and wrapped her legs around his waist. Shippou decided to ride on Kirara's head.

 

InuYasha took off at a fast run, as Kirara was airborne behind them. Kagome made herself comfortable on InuYasha's back. She loved this. It always felt as if she was flying. The young Miko Hanyou smiled into his back. 'I would love to stay like this forever...Me and InuYasha flying through the air, so close. Okay girly new topic!' Kagome was glad that no one could see her, she knew she was blushing at least ten shades of red.

 

InuYasha smirked when Kagome snuggled against him. He loved the feel of her warmth against him. This was really the closest they every really get. Not really considering those little special moments, where they look into each others eyes and get lost in each other. 'Okay, not something I need to think about right now...' InuYasha was just glad he was in the lead.

A/N: I'm sooooooo sorry it took me so long to update! I was really sick and had a fevers for long periods of time. I have a fever right now of 100.3 so ya. Writers block wasn't helping much either. ::grumbles:: Okay here's chapter 4! The next chapter will be good, but it will take me awhile to get it done, so bare with me.~Sagokiyo
