Sesshomaru having seen that her anger was the reason that she wore herself out the night before decided to find out why she was irate. He knew that she was powerful, and if there is one thing he never wanted to see wasted it was power. His arrival caused a bit a commotion in the village. (No really) He was somewhat pleased to find his ill-bred half-brother was gone because that meant he would not have to fight immediately.

He went to Kaede's home where he found Kagome's friend. They at once brought out their weapons but when he informed them that he was not in the mood to fight that relaxed a little. (Like they really trusted him)

As they were not going to talk he started the conversation by saying, "Kagome is being cared for, but there might be a problem."

Sango who never thought of the demon lord as anything but cruel was surprised and said, "What problem are you talking about?" She just noticed a hand on her but and slapped that slimy monk.

"Well she is in good health, but she wares herself out because of something that happened with Inuyasha. Do you know what? If I knew I might be able to solve it. I would hate to lose such a strong fighter."

Both the monk and exterminator knew and had sad looks on their faces. Miroku explained, "Lady Kagome most likely saw Inuyasha and Kikyou together. We now know what happened to Kagome, but I have a feeling that it is nothing compared to what happened to Inuyasha."

Flashback (don't you love these? I do)

Dog-boy was gone. Miroku decided to go look for him. Miroku and Sango had arrived early to find neither Inuyasha nor Kagome. He quickly came upon Inuyasha and the evil undead moody bitch of a priestess. They were kissing but that is not what caught his attention. The hole they were being drawn into did! He could only assume that it led to hell. "Bitch, let him go!" he hollered. She with her cold face looked at him and said, "He can't hear you. Accept this because there is nothing that you can do." He realized that she was right. Kagome is the only one who could save him. Where is she? Why did she disappear after defeating Naraku? He turned away because he was helpless to save a friend.

End Flashback (same scene Kagome saw but because of her POV she didn't see the hole)

Somewhere in the Afterlife

"Wait a minute! You two can't go to hell." Kikyou looked at her questionably.

"You, priestess can't go because you are only part of a soul, and even though you were an evil witch that gave mikos a bad name you couldn't go because you did good while you lived. You, Inuyasha, could go because you are such an asshole and imbecile, but you did kill Naraku which means I have to figure out what to do with you."

With that she sent all the other souls in Kikyou to their bodies along with the rest of Kagome's soul. That caused Kikyou's body to turn to dust. She then turned to Inuyasha who was a little disoriented to say the least and said, "I don't do this for everybody, but you are special which means I can." She then put a spell on him that enabled him to see what might have happened if he had not fallen for Kikyou's illusion.

What might have been is-

If Inuyasha had not fallen under Kikyou's spell he would be with Kagome. Their descendents would have been powerful enough to send demons underground for centuries.

The believed goddess who had done the spell watched as Inuyasha's face showed how disappointed he was in himself. To comfort him the god said, "If it makes you feel better, Kagome will have that big of an impact without you." With that he whispered what Kagome's new destiny was. He just stood there shocked. "Now back to your fate. I really don't know what to do with you, yet. I refuse to keep you here."

She thought and looked in a book until she came up with an idea. "You know the term `Soul mate', right? Well, that is a true idea. I know you may not want to hear this, but you are no longer Kagome's. I can let you go after I know that none of your live friends are angry with you. That means every single one including Kagome." *groan, Inuyasha*

"Kagome's temper is going to be nearly impossible to cool."

"Well good luck. You can stay here for two months. What? I don't feel like having a moron around to long. If you don't meet the requirements by that time you will move on. All right? Good! Bye!"

With that she was gone then back again. Before she left again she said, "Oh, did I mention that you can only speak to them in dreams" Inuyasha just stood there and wished that witch, Kikyou, had left him alone.

Sessy and Kag

"Why did you do that? I am fine!" Kagome screamed as she threw a punch at him.

Sesshomaru dodged, kept his cool, and said, "You worked yourself to exhaustion which means that something is wrong, and I am not in the habit of letting my guests hurt themselves. I recommend that you go to sleep because it is late, now."

She stood there and pouted. Sesshomaru sighed, picked her up and carried her to her room. She can be such a spoiled puppy. Perhaps I should have waited before I told her everything. She gave up on her temper tantrum and threw him out before she changed. She was having a dream when Inuyasha appeared. Great I can't even sleep without being irritated.

Once he was closer she started to pummel him until she woke up. She had not even noticed that Sesshomaru was in the corner watching her sleep and pummel the wadded blanket and trying not to laugh.

Inuyasha tried every night for a week and got the same reaction every time, and that annoying goddess laughed at him every time she saw him bruised and hurt. During that week he had already patched things up with everybody else using the extra time he had because he could not stay long in Kagome's dream. He finally asked for help.

He asked the most unlikely person, Sesshomaru. "I need your help. I can't return till she is not angry with me anymore."

"You did it to yourself, little brother."

"Does nobody care that I was under a spell? I was you know!"

"Fine, I'll talk to her. It might take awhile because she is a brat so keep trying."

When he was training her he brought up Inuyasha. He was glad that she had a less negative reaction. He reasoned with her by saying, "Do you really think that you truly loved him? Honestly."

"Yes… No…. Maybe."

"That is what I thought." He ended the session early to give her time to think. I have to give her credit. She at least has good enough taste to not fall for my brother.

Kagome hated when he acted like he knew everything. She sat down in the garden by the tree, pouted then she thought. I loved Inuyasha. Right? If you need to ask then you probably didn't Who asked you? You did. I am you. I know all that you do and more. Ugh. I'm right. I didn't Love him. He was just a crush, besides he was a jerk. I hate it when Sesshomaru is right.

She walked into the castle to a very smug demon lord, who could tell that he had made his point. She stuck out her tongue at his as she walked by.

Kagome is dreaming and guess who is there. "I am no longer angry with you. I forgive you, besides I think you have been though enough." Even after I forgave him I beat him up for a week when he tried to talk to me. I suppose I should have been nicer. Oh Well. "Finally. Thanks. I am really sorry that I hurt you, my best friend. Oh, I've got to go and tell her that she can stop gloating."

In the Afterlife

"I win I get to go back." "Fine! You were beginning to bother me anyway. You will go back with no memory of this place and me. I'll even let you decide when you will go back." "I think I'll wait a while. What you said about Kagome is true, right?"

"Of course, I don't lie. Tell me when you want to leave. Oh by the way, I could have sent you back at anytime. I just felt like messing with you." With that the goddess disappeared leaving a fuming Inuyasha.

Present

Kagome had decided to go home so her family knew that she was all right. She had convinced Sesshomaru to stay behind because she was not sure how he would react to her time. She was surprised that they barely noticed she was a demon. "I am sure you will explain you new state but do it later." Were the first words out of her mom's mouth. She told her mom (Does Anyone know her name) that she would stay in the past. When they were in the house they all revealed presents. "Well, you did destroy an ultimate evil, so…. We also didn't have time to get you anything the last time you were here." She was thrilled with the gifts though she had to keep them in her room in present day Tokyo. Later she explained that she had destroyed a lot of demons to protect Shippou and herself and that their blood turned her into a demon. At least I was lucky enough to be a dog demon. Her mom, who had not given her a gift earlier, gave her a box and said that to open it when she felt it was needed. After a few hours of visiting she took the gift and some chocolate and went back though the well.

Sesshomaru's Castle

The annual gathering was taking place in the Northern Lands. He decided that Kagome should go also. He figured that at least he would not be as bored with her around and maybe the sluts that fawned over him would be at least a little deterred. Once Kagome returned they left for the gathering. Kagome took the children with them despite Sesshomaru's saying that it would not be a good idea.

The Northern Lands

Lord Baiko and Lady Akiko greeted them when they arrived. They were shown to their quarters and quickly prepared for the main event. For once Kagome and Sesshomaru agreed that the children were not to wander unless with one of the adults was with them.

Kagome was getting dressed when she remembered her mother's gift. She opened it to see a beautiful silk crimson dress. I would go into details but I think that the expressions and actions of other characters will tell you how beautiful she looked.

She had finished getting dressed when Sesshomaru walked in to escort her to the hall. When he saw her he felt lucky to be walking with her and something that he could not explain. He looked handsome and Kagome realized that she might be in trouble the moment the females saw her on his arm.

Sess POV

As he entered the hall he could see that all eyes were on Kagome and himself. He also realized that he did not like the fact that Kagome was being stared at by many males. Their scent betrayed what they were thinking. He had the sudden urge, which he controlled, to mutilate many of them.

As he mildly flexed his claws he shook that thought out of his head. The dinner proceeded well and he was surprisingly happy to see that Kagome stayed close to him. If she were alone I think I might have to kill a few male demons before the night is over. Why do I feel like this? It is not like she is my mate or anything. That thought continued to plague him throughout the evening so much that he didn't even notice that a woman had flirted with him.

Kag POV

Kagome saw that her instincts were right and that as she entered the hall that many female reeked of envy, malice, and more directed towards her. She had barely even noticed how the male reacted. She stayed close to Sesshomaru because she did not feel like getting into a fight at the moment. The dinner that they ate with other lords passed with little incident. Although Kagome did not like it when a pretty female dog-demon flirted with Sesshomaru. What the hell does she think she is doing? Why do I care anyway? It makes no sense.

Normal POV

After everybody had eaten they all wandered around the castle including one human girl and one cute fox child. (I love his tail! Isn't he the cutest thing?) Those two found and followed their guardians until they got lost. The two being followed had not noticed the two children. They were preoccupied with their own thoughts.

Why would I care if someone wants to flirt with him? I don't own him. God, I'm worse than Inuyasha

Well, aren't you the dense one? What are you trying to say? Two things actually. One is you are dense. The second is that you know as well as I do why you care. I can't… No, do I… After shacking her head and yawning she decided that she would go to bed. Sesshomaru watched her leave and continued on his walk.

She is not my mate or even family member, so why do I care that other males looked at her. Why did I feel the urge slice their throats! Fine, you don't want to admit your feelings I get that, but don't ask me questions that you already know the answer to. Wait are you saying that I… He became conscious of the fact that he was tired and wanted to go to sleep leaving his statement unfinished.

He walked by Kagome's room to get to his own. He walked in removed his shirt and plopped himself on the bed and fell asleep.

Kagome wanted to sleep, but she couldn't. She had not even changed out of the dress. She opted to check on the kids and go for a walk. She went to their room and saw that they were gone. She almost screamed. She ran out of the room and started to sniff around and caught their scents.

She was obviously irrational because she didn't think that to get Sesshomaru before she ran off. Sesshomaru who was a very light sleeper had heard the running steps and smelled fear mixed in with Kagome's scent jumped up quickly dressed and ran after her. He was half expecting a male to be the cause of her fear but he soon came upon Kagome and another female demon squaring off and the children looking terrified standing behind Kagome.

The other Lords had wakened to the commotion and were watching. The female was lunging at Kagome while she put both of her hands up and her purple miko energy forced its way out of her hands sending the other demon flying against the wall. Sesshomaru was thrilled at how powerful she was and took a small amount of pride in it as her teacher while the other lords stood there stunned. She faced the woman and said, "I will not allow harm to come to the children. I hope you inform others of this."

Kagome noticing the audience blushed and grabbed the kids and started to walk away. She did not get for before Lord Akahito stopped her and said, "I would not worry about hurting her. She is a brat and cruel. Someone needed to take her down a notch."

After she left he asked Sesshomaru, "Does she have a mate? If not I have a son that would be great for her." "No she does not. Also, I am not her guardian and she can mate with whomever she chooses."

With that he left and went to see if the children and Kagome were okay. He found that the children were asleep and so was she. He picked her up and took her to her room. He was about to leave when she started to cry and was obviously having a nightmare.

He woke her up to try and calm her. Once she was aware of her surroundings he asked her what she had been dreaming about. She didn't want to talk about it. She somehow convinced him to drop it. They were sitting there when she noticed he had no shirt or top. She was not upset though. God, he is sexy. What? Did I just think that? She blushed. She was getting up and fell. He caught her and the next thing she knew…

*Insert hot sex scene. If I could write one I would, but I can't so I won't. *
