Chapter 2:
Small Request & An Old Friend

Kagome stepped into her chemistry class and all eyes were on her. She looked around and spotted the eight teens from the hallway. Kagome walked over to the teacher and handed her a slip of paper. The teacher looked at the paper, then at Kagome. She smiled.

“I'm Ms. Kitana,” she said. “You will be sitting by…..”

Ms. Kitana looked around the room and her eyes fell upon Inuyasha. He had his head laid in his arms.

“Inuyasha,” Ms. Kitana said.

“What about me?” Inuyasha questioned, lifting his head from his desk.

“Go on and have a seat, dear,” Ms. Kitana smiled.

Kagome nodded and walked over to Inuyasha's table. Inuyasha gave her a look as she sat down. Kagome looked at Inuyasha and rolled her eyes. Inuyasha gave a low growl and laid his head back in his arms as Ms. Kitana began her lesson. Kagome looked beside her and watched Inuyasha for a while. His fuzzy white ears swiveled at any hint of noise. Kagome grinned. She glanced in front of her at and saw Sango watching her. Sango smirked and Kagome realized that she had gotten caught staring at him. Kagome's cheeks tinged red and she turned toward the window. Sango giggled.

“Hey, shut it,” Inuyasha snapped, lifting his head to look at Sango. “Tryna sleep here.”

“Shut up and go to sleep then,” Sango said.

“That's what I'm tryna do,” Inuyasha mumbled, dropping his head to his desk with a loud thud. Everyone looked at Inuyasha.

“Shit!” he muttered, rubbing his forehead.

“Idiot,” Koga scoffed. Inuyasha grabbed the back of Koga's head and slammed it into the desk.

“Got anything else to say?” Inuyasha growled.

“Mr. Taisho,” Ms. Kitana said, “do not attack my students.”

Inuyasha rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. Koga rubbed his forehead, grumbling under his breath. Kagome smiled and shook her head.

“That was great,” Kagome whispered.

Inuyasha looked at her and smirked. Sango, Ayame, Miroku, and Koga gave him a weird look. Inuyasha looked back at them.

“What?!” he snapped. The four teens turned their attention back to the teacher.

“Now, if you are through,” Ms. Kitana said, “I can finish my lesson.”

“Keh,” Inuyasha crossed his arms.

Kagome giggled. Inuyasha glanced at her and saw that she was writing in a notebook, and it didn't look like notes. Kagome leaned her cheek on her hand and tapped her pencil on the desk. She stared at her notebook page. On the top line she had the words Baby Boy. She had written her first verse, when a voice came over the intercom.

“Ms. Kitana, would you happen to have Kagome Higurashi in your class?” the voice asked.

“Yes, I do,” Ms. Kitana replied.

“Principal Mana would like to see her,” the voice said.

“Alright,” Ms. Kitana said. “Kagome?”

“Sure,” Kagome smiled. She closed her notebook. “I was just there and hour ago,” she muttered, walking out the door.

Inuyasha shook his head and grinned. Kagome sighed and walked down the hall. Luckily, there weren't many teens wandering the halls, but the few that were stared at her with wide eyes. Kagome rolled her eyes and walked into the office. The secretary looked up as the door closed.

“Oh, Miss Kagome,” she said. “Go right in.”

“Thank you,” Kagome smiled, giving a slight bow. “And it's just Kagome.”

The secretary smiled. Kagome walked into the principal's office and sat down. Principal Mana smiled. She was a young woman in her early thirties. She had long pink hair in a bun with two wisps on front and green eyes behind small framed glasses. She extended her hand towards Kagome.

“Hi, I'm Principal Mana,” she said, shaking Kagome's hand. “Do you know why you're here?”

“I may an idea,” Kagome smiled.

“Well, we have a dance next Friday,” Principal Mana began, “and I have received several request that you sing a few songs. You wouldn't mind, would you?”

“Of course not,” Kagome smiled.

“Oh, and one more thing,” Principal Mana smiled. “Someone's been looking for you.”

Kagome knitted her eyebrows together in confusion. She looked to her right as a boy stepped into view. He was a couple inches taller than Kagome. He had long purplish-white hair and purple eyes. He had on a white graphic tee and black skinny jeans. He grinned.

“Hey, Kags,” he said. “Love the shirt!”

“Hakudoshi!” Kagome cheered as she hopped up to hug him. “What are you doin' here?”

“My uncle decided to let me come,” Hakudoshi explained, “plus he wants me to be in the movie.”

“You two better head back to class,” Principal Mana said.

The two teens nodded and walked out the principal's office and into the hall. Kagome and Hakudoshi turned down opposite sides of the hall.

“I'll see ya' at lunch,” Kagome called. Hakudoshi nodded.

Kagome walked into her second class and looked around. As she looked around, she saw the Taisho brothers, Sango, Kanna, and Rin. This was her Algebra III advanced math class. She glanced at the teacher's desk and saw that the nameplate said, Mr. Stokes.

“You're late,” he said.

“Yeah, I got lost,” Kagome replied.

“Uh huh,” he grinned. “Have a seat next to Ms. Inata.”

Kanna looked up. Kagome nodded and went to take her seat. Kanna glanced at Kagome. She looked her shirt and grinned.

“I like your shirt,” Kanna said.

“Thanks, um…?” Kagome trailed off.

“Kanna,” she said.

Kagome smiled and looked at the notebook in front of Kanna. She looked back at Kanna.

“You write songs?” Kagome asked.

“Kinda,” Kanna shrugged.

“May I?” Kagome asked, reaching for the notebook.

Kanna nodded. Kagome pulled the notebook in front of her and began to flip through. The notebook was halfway filled with songs. Kagome smiled and looked at Kanna.

“These are good,” she said.

“Really?” Kanna asked.

“Yeah, I really like `Fly On The Wall', `Decode', and `Bring Me To Life'.

“Thanks,” Kanna smiled. “Maybe I can be famous like you.”

“You might have a shot,” Kagome grinned.

Inuyasha looked at Kagome. How did she mesh so well with his friends? It was weird. You never see many famous kids doing that. Inuyasha shrugged and continued writing in his notebook. But one thing he had to admit was that she was cute. Mr. Stokes stood and passed out three worksheets that were to be completed by the end of class. Kagome and Kanna finished theirs in about thirty minutes.

“Do you have any favorite singers or actors?” Kagome asked.

“You mean other than you?” Kanna questioned.

“Yeah,” Kagome grinned.

“Hakudoshi Fugiya,” Kanna sighed.

“Hakudoshi, huh?” Kagome questioned.

“Please don't get her started,” Sango said.

“What?” Kanna said, “he's hot!”

“Wanna meet him?” Kagome

“Would I ever!” Kanna said.

“We can see him at lunch,” Kagome said.

“He's here?!” Kanna shrieked. Kagome nodded.

“Oh my god!” Kanna said.

“You don't know what you're getting' yourself into,” Ayame said to Kagome. Kagome grinned.

“I've been tryna get Kagura to let me meet him since forever!” Kanna said.

“You know Kagura?” Kagome questioned.

“She's my sister,” Kanna said.”

“Your sister?” Kagome repeated. “She's my agent.”

“Your agent?” Kanna repeated. “Oh, that's cool!”

Mr. Stokes sat at his desk and began to go through the worksheets. They were halfway through the third one, when the lunch bell rang. Everyone grabbed their things and bolted for the door. Kagome walked with Kanna, Sango, Ayame, and Rin while Inuyasha and Sesshomaru followed behind them. The seven teens walked through the cafeteria and outside. Kagome looked around. She spotted Hakudoshi sitting under a tree. Kagome turned to Kanna.

“Stay right here,” she said. Kanna nodded. Kagome walked over to Hakudoshi and grabbed his hand.

“I've got someone for you to meet,” she said, pulling him with her. Kagome led Hakudoshi over to Kanna. She stopped in front of her.

“Hakudoshi, Kanna,” Kagome smiled. “Kanna, Hakudoshi.”

“Hey,” Hakudoshi smirked.

“Hi,” Kanna smiled as a blush covered her cheeks.

“Get acquainted,” Kagome said, with a smile. “Oh, and she writes songs.”

“Really?” Hakudoshi asked.

“Kinda,” Kanna replied.

“You mind if I look?” he asked.

Kanna shook her head and handed him her notebook. Hakudoshi thumbed through it as they went to sit under a tree. Kagome smiled. Sango, Rin, and Ayame looked at each other.

“Whoa,” Rin and Ayame muttered.

“She really loves that guy, ya know,” Sango said.

“Please,” Inuyasha scoffed. “She's obsessed.”

“And that's not healthy,” Miroku said.

“This senior is out,” Sesshomaru said, glancing at his watch.

Everyone nodded and said their goodbyes as Sesshomaru walked away. Kagome watched him leave.

“Minimum day,” she asked. The others nodded.

“What's your next class?” Sango asked.

“Chorus,” Kagome replied.

“Oh, me and Kanna are goin' that way,” Ayam said.

“Cool,” Kagome grinned.

“Is that….KAGOME?! a voice yelled. Kagome froze.

“Ayumi?” Kagome whispered.

She turned to be facing a girl with long black wavy hair that stopped between her shoulder blades and big brown eyes. A smile spread across Kagome's face.

“Oh, my god, Kagome1” Ayumi said. “I haven't seen you in….”

“Like four years,” Kagome grinned.

“I know!” Ayumi smiled. “We've got so much to talk about!”

“You ain't never lied,” Kagome laughed. “We'll have to get together one day.”

“Definitely,” Ayumi said, hugging Kagome. “I'll see you around.”

Kagome smiled and walked back over to the others as the bell for the end of lunch rang. Kanna rushed over to them. Hakudoshi went to stand beside Kagome.

“You guys!” KAnna said, with a bright smile. “Hakudoshi just complimented me on my music.”

“And on that note,” Inuyasha said, “I bounce.”

“Yeah,” Koga replied.

“Later,” Miroku said.

The boys walked inside the school. Kanna narrowed her at them. Sango and Ayame smiled.

“That's great, Kanna,” Ayame said.

“Yeah, he might even wanna sing with you one day,” Sango grinned.

“That would be so cool!” Kanna said.

Kagome grinned and looked beside her at Hakudoshi.

“Nice,” she said.

“Hey,” he grinned, “she's kinda cute.”

“Hey, Kagome,” Kanna called. “Let's go!”

“Coming!” Kagome said. “Later, `Doshi.”

Hakudoshi nodded. Kagome ran to catch up with the others. Sango headed on to gym, Rin went to art, and KAnna and Ayame led Kagome to chorus.

“You goin to the dance next Friday, Kagome?” Ayame asked, opening the classroom door.

“I kinda have to,” Kagome replied. “I'm performing.”

“Awesome,” Kanna said as she sat down.

“I guess,” Kagome said, sitting between the two girls.

“Kagome Higurashi?” a voice said.

“Yes?” Kagome looked up.

“I'm Mrs. Nagasaki,” the woman said, “and it is a custom that new students sing for us on their first day.”

“Really?” Kagome questioned.

“Yes,” Mrs. Nagasaki said. “Now up.”

Kagome looked at Ayame and Kanna. The two shrugged. Kagome sighed and stood up.

“What do I have to sing?” she asked.

“Anything you like?”

“Ok,” Kagome said. “Do you know `Who's Lovin' You'?”

Mrs. Nagasaki nodded and started to play. Kagome took a deep breath.

When I had you
I treated you bad and wrong my dear
And since, since you
went away

(chorus)
Don't you know I sit around
With my head hanging dow
n
And I wonder who's lovin' you

I
-I-I-I
I-I should have never, ever
ever made you cry
And since
, since you been gone

(chorus)
Don't you know I sit around
With my head hanging dow
n
And I wonder who's lovin' you

(bridge)
Life with out love, huh...
It's oh so lonely
I don't think, I don't think!
I'm gonna make it

All my life,
All my love, yeah
Belongs to you only
Come on
and take it, boy
Come on
and take it, because....
All,
All I can do, all I can do
Since you've been gone is cry
And don't
you ever wonder
or worry your head of what I do

(chorus )
Don't you know I sit around
With my head hanging dow
n
And I wonder who's lovin' you

Kagome smiled as everyone applauded. Kanna and Ayame stared at her as she sat down.

“Why didn't you sing your own song?” Ayame asked.

“I love Michael Jackson,” Kagome smiled.

“That was wonderful, Kagome,” Mrs. Nagasaki said. “Not that I thought anything less from you.”

“Thanks,” Kagome smiled.
