A New Friend?

Kagome screamed again as this new…person?...fell into the water. By now, Sango has reached her scared friend and was trying to pull her away from the floating body. But she just couldn't leave whoever was there to drown in the hot springs. She could feel that he was not dead and struggled away from Sango back to the body.

"Sango, it's still alive, we can't just leave it here. We have to take it back to the village." She turned the thing over in the water to prevent it from drowning. That's when she noticed it wasn't a thing at all; it was a man…or rather a demon man. He was covered in black fur, and ears like InuYasha's. She also noticed a rather long tail hanging down below him. His features reminded her somewhat of Shippo. That's when she decided he must be another fox demon. Sango came up beside her,

"I don't know Kagome; do you really think it's a good idea to take him back to the village? InuYasha won't like that, and I have my doubts about him as well. I don't care if he's injured he could still be dangerous." Kagome was surprised at Sango's desire to kill someone that was barely alive.

"Dangerous? He's not even awake. And by the looks of him, he couldn't hurt a fly, much less a person. At rate he's bleeding he'll die soon. We need to get him treated back at the village; I don't have my bandages with me." Sango agreed reluctantly and helped pull this new demon to the edge of the hot spring.

***** Back at the village (Now from the new character's view) *****

"What the fuck were you thinking? Killing all of my horses!? I knew it was a bad idea letting a demon live in our village. Everyone, get that bastard!" The young demon just stood there with a confused look on his face,

"Huh? Kill your horses? Heh, I've no need for your horses, especially not for food. I'm fast enough for that on my own."

"Liar! Get that demon!" All the villagers ran at the Kitsune, trying to kill him, not just injure him. Even though he was outnumbered by a great deal, the demon charged head on, too proud to think he was weaker than the villagers. Before he knew, he was at the bottom of a dog pile, being stabbed, bashed, and beaten. It took all the strength he had to burst free of his attackers. His first instinct was to run through the forest, and that's exactly what he did.

He did not know how far and how fast he ran, and as soon as he ran out of energy, he fell unconscious to the ground. It was nearly an hour before he had awakened. And to his weary dismay, he was still bleeding freely. It did help him that he lacked the necessary skills to bandage himself to save his life; not that he could anyway, there were no supplies to bandage himself with anyway. So he just walked around blindly, not knowing where he might end up, alive or dead.

Days passed as he lumbered on, and soon he caught the sent of humans nearby. It was lucky he did, for he was on the verge of death. He limped as fast as he could, trying to reach this newfound scent. He did not expect to find two ladies bathing in a hot spring, naked no less. Yet he still moved forward making his way toward to the two women. As he reached the nearest of the two, she turned around. When she caught sight of him, she yelled at the top of her lungs. He continued forward; he needed help whether they tried killed him or not. He mustered up the last of his strength,

"Help…me…" Those were the last words he sputtered as he fell forward into the water, watching the darkness encroach his vision.

He sat up with start, his eyes shooting open only to be knocked down by a searing pain throughout his entire being. He fell back down and was wracked with pain again. So he took some time to look around at his surroundings. He was on a padded pallet inside of a small hut. Light was streaming in from behind a small bamboo curtain. He could hear angry voices yelling outside in what sounded like a crazy argument,

"…give a damn if he was injured or not, he could've tried to kill you! Damn, you baka!" It was the voice of a man, and a woman was yelling in response to him,

"Ha! Hurt me? He couldn't even walk. What do you think he's gonna do, crawl after me? `Hey you! Get back here, I'm gonna kill ya…well…as soon as I can stand!' You really think someone as injured as him could hurt me?" There was more angry responses,

"Did you know he was really injured when you saw him? He could have been faking it! You really are an idiot, aren't you Kagome?" All of a sudden it was quiet, and footsteps could be heard approaching the hut. The girl he saw at the hot springs entered; tears were streaming down her face. She saw that he had awakened and turned away to wipe the tears from her face.

"You didn't hear all that just now…did you?" He nodded his head but did not saw anything. He wasn't sure he could trust her, even though she had brought him back here. "I'm Kagome. What happened to you? You like you were beaten to hell and back. You're lucky that you found us; otherwise you'd be dead about now. Kaede and I took the liberty to bandage you up. Who are you?" He took his time in his response,

"I'm…Kiniata…" He tried to sit up again, only to fall right back down to his pallet again. Kagome hurried over to him and helped settle him down,

"You really shouldn't try to move. You may reopen some of your wounds. Rest. And please tell me how you got in this condition anyway; I would really like to know."

"I was attacked by villagers. They accused for killing some guy's horses. I tried to fight them, but there were too many." He turned away; he did not like to remember what happened. Kagome cocked her head,

"Huh, that's kind of like what happened to InuYasha. He's the one who I was arguing with outside. He's kind of pig-headed." An angry voice came from outside,

"You know, I can hear you Kagome, I'm not deaf." She grimaced,

"Don't mind him, that's just how he is. So they attacked you over some horses?" She sighed. "I can't believe it. People are so stupid over such minor things." Kiniata let out a hoarse laugh,

"It's not the fact that the horses were killed, it's that I'm the only demon who lived there. So it's natural for them to blame the strongest and most `evil' one in the village. I never attacked them, or their damn horses. As far as I'm concerned I'm glad that the horses are dead. And they can all rot in hell for all I care." He laughed again, and suddenly cringed in pain. "Perhaps I shouldn't laugh either, neh?" Kagome sighed again and shook head,

"You shouldn't do much of anything. Wait here and I'll make you some herbal soup to help you regain some of your strength. There's not much else I can do for your wound except for what we've done already. Just rest, I'll be right back." He nodded his head and shifted himself into a more comfortable position.

It was not long before Kagome came back inside the hut. This time she was carrying a steaming bowl of soup. "Here, drink this." She lifted the bowl to his lips and he drank it. The warm liquid went down his throat easily. And instantly he felt much better, as well as extremely tired. Just like that, darkness clouded his vision and he passed out yet again, only to plagued by another nightmare.
