The Next Day…

From the moment Kiniata had lost his sense of control, InuYasha's trust for him ceased there. He could not trust someone who just went into a random blind rage. At least when he was possessed by demonic blood, he was either provoked beyond all reason, or he was on the verge of death. He knew he should help and at least try to give some of his trust to him, but time had hardened him, and Kagome's presence still had not softened him that much; Kiniata was a threat, and he had to leave.

Inside the hut, Kiniata was restored to his pallet on the floor; this time guarded by both Sango and Miroku. It was not long before Kiniata rose again, with a serious headache and yet another wound upon his body. He began to rub the large lump on his head,

"Ugh…what happened? Why do I feel like I was dropped on my head?" He sat up, groaning with pain. Miroku and Sango exchange worried glances. They didn't know whether to tell him what he had done or not. By now though, his all of his senses came back to him and he caught the scent of blood. "Whoa…what did happen? Why is there the scent of blood in the air? Is there a battle going on?" Sango stepped forward,

"No, I'm afraid there was no battle. The scent that you smell now was caused by you." Kiniata's eyes shot open, and he cocked his head,

"By me? How? I haven't even been out of bed. And who the hell are you anyway?" He looked past her and saw Miroku behind her, "You too…who are you people? I don't remember seeing you before." He looked a moment more upon the face of Sango and then he recognized where he had seen her. "Oh yeah…you were the other one at that spring where I collapsed…"

"Yes, it was you. By what InuYasha had told us, you were possessed by your demonic blood and went on a killing rampage. You killed many of the villagers, as well as some of their animals in the aftermath. And my name is Sango." She pointed to the man behind her, "And that's Miroku." Kiniata nodded his head toward them both.

"I am Kiniata." They nodded their heads back at him. "I don't understand though…that's never happened to me before. Well…one other time when there was a full moon outside and I kill my pa…" He stopped short. He didn't want to reveal another gruesome detail about himself. He was already in a tight spot as it was. With his luck, they would wait for him to heal, only to kill the instant he was up.

"Killed who?"

He looked away, "Nothing. Forget it." Sango knelt beside him,

"Tell me, who was it that you ki…" Kiniata whipped around and grabbed her throat, anger burning in his eyes,

"I said forget it!!!" Miroku ran forward and tried to pry Sango from his grip. His efforts were of no use; his grip was great, and he couldn't do anything about it. If he tried to use his wind tunnel, Sango would be sucked into the void as well. Before he could call for help, Kiniata released Sango. Guilt was in his eyes,

"I'm sorry…I didn't mean to…it was…bad memories…please…forgive me…" He buried his face in his hands, tears streaming down his face. He felt horrible. First he attacked and killed the villagers, and now he attacked this girl who didn't even do anything to him. It was all too much. He began to retch and throw up all over himself. "I'm…so…I'm so…sorry…" This was his first true moment to experience this kind of weakness. He couldn't handle it. Everything that happened to him was finally taking its toll on him. Sango moved closer to him and held him close, trying to soothe him,

"It's ok, don't worry. I forgive. It was an accident." She looked back to Miroku, "Miroku, go and see if Kagome has something to clean him up. If she doesn't, bring some water and we'll make do with that." The young monk nodded his head, and left reluctantly. She turned back to the Kitsune who was still sobbing in her hands. "Shush…lie down and rest, everything will be all right. I'm a demon hunter after all; I've taken worse hits than that." He listened to her, trying to control his sobs.

"O…k…I'll try…" He lie back down and shut his eyes. Weariness overcame him at once, and he fell into the world of darkness. This time, to pleasant dreams.

When he awoke, he felt so much better, but there was no one around. He saw that he had been cleaned up, and his clothes had been changed. He stood up, no longer feeling much pain, and he walked outside. The four people he knew were sitting around a fire, as well as a little demon cat. What really caught his attention was another young Kitsune, no older than that of a child. InuYasha was looking a little angry,

"Would ya hurry up Kagome? What taken so long for you to make Ramen? I'm so damn hungry. Hurry up!" Kagome shot him an evil eye, and he was silent instantaneously.

"Be patient InuYasha, it won't be much longer." Her eye caught sight of Kiniata, "Then again, it might take a little longer than I thought. It looks like we have another guest for lunch." Everyone saw who Kagome was looking at. And InuYasha grabbed the hilt of his Tetsusaiga.

"Don't worry, I don't mean to hurt anyone. I'm in my right mind now…which still kind of hurts." He looked to InuYasha who just growled at him.

Kagome spoke up, "No problem, come on over and sit. Lunch is almost ready. We're having Ramen." Kiniata cocked his head,

"Ramen? What the hell is that?"

"Just wait a moment, and it'll be ready." True to her word, this new dish of "Ramen" was ready. She poured what looked like noodles into separate bowls and passed them around to everyone. Kiniata was reluctant to try this new dish, but all he had recently was that medicinal broth that had put him to sleep, and he was famished. He took the chopsticks offered to him and he took a bite.

The noodles were so soft and tender as the flavor filled his mouth. It was something that he had never had before. It was so good. He devoured his share in an instant. Everyone looked at them with a raised eyebrow. The little Kitsune spoke first,

"Wow! I've never seen anyone eat that fast before. That was even faster than when InuYasha eats!" Everyone burst out laughing. Everyone save for InuYasha and Kiniata. InuYasha just ignored them and continued to eat, while Kiniata was blushing in embarrassment. He set his bowl down and stood,

"Thanks for the meal." He bowed and turned away. He was too embarrassed to face them.

"Hey, don't worry about it. Our group isn't one of perfect people ya know! Everyone has their own little defects," Sango explained. Shippo piped in,

"Yeah, like InuYasha being a pig head all the time!" This time everyone but InuYasha burst out laughing. "Come on and sit back down with us." Kiniata was happy to not be thrown out from these people.

And so for the next hour or so, everyone was just glad to talk. Kiniata explained what had happened to him, and Kagome told him how he was brought back to the village. It was not long before Kiniata began to grow weary again, and he started to head back to the hut in which he had been sleeping in. Sango came up beside him and helped him back to his bed. When they reached the interior of the hut, Sango leaned next to his ear and whispered,

"Don't worry about what happened earlier. That'll be our secret from the others. Just between you, Miroku, and I. Now rest." He nodded his head and got into his bed. He was asleep in an instant.
