The pain

His eyes stare into mine.

They hold worry and love.

It's his feelings for which I pine.

I hold back, but my heart gives a shove.

Friends we will always be,

Yet I want to be more.

I only wish I could see

What I'm really here for.

Through me, do you see her?

Is that why I'm around?

Things can't be the way they were.

I almost wish she were back in the ground.

But she stole your heart first,

So I'll try to understand.

I have felt worse,

Now let's look for this jewel that you demand.

You can tell it's a lie,

When I turn away.

And when you ask why,

I don't know what to say.

I can tell when you're sad

Like you have a lot of guilt.

You lost the chance you once had

But it can be rebuilt.

I care for you if you don't already know.

To care for you is all I can do.

I stay by your side like I told you so,

But you always already knew.
