A whole week went by and Kayko and Kasumi still refused to mend their differences. They both sit in the cabin not able to go anyway from the pouring rain. Kasumi sighs laying on her bed flipping through her Seventeen's magazine. Kayko lays on her stomach on the bed drawing some pictures.
"I don't believe this. I have to be stuck in this cabin all day and I have to be with you." Kasumi snaps. Kayko rolls her eyes and shakes her head not taking her eyes from her drawing.
"Hey stop complaining. You can hire people to do that for you." Kayko laughs hoping to break the tension between them a little. She thought the whole fight thing was ridiculous. Kasumi clears her throat trying not to laugh, even though she wants to get to know the girl. She has to live by the Shikon rule once someone insults your family name you are bitter enemies. Kayko sits up on her knees looking at Kasumi. "Oh come on Kasumi. Am I that horrible? What did I ever do to you? Why don't you like me so much?" Kayko crosses her arms hoping to get an answer from her. Kasumi stares at fashion picture in her magazine for a while before answering her truthfully.
"You look like me that's all." She shrugs it off. Kayko raises her eyebrow and tilts her head to the side.
"But you said-"
"I know what I said thank you very much!" Kasumi cuts her off and clears her throat again. "I was embarrassed and I had to break the attention we were getting."
"Oh I get it. So you insult me figuring I won't get mad." Kayko snaps sarcastically putting her hands on her thighs. Kasumi rolls her eyes looking at Kayko.
"Look I know I was wrong but I'm....yeah." Kasumi blushes a little and brings her eyes back to her magazine. Kayko starts laughing and sits down with her back against the wall.
"Apology accepted." Kayko smiles widely crossing her arms. Kasumi looks at her raising her eyebrow.
"You know what I was trying to say?"
"Yeah. I mean call me crazy if you want but I really feel like I understand you. You know?" She smiles at Kasumi. Kasumi tilts her head to the side a little and nods her head bringing her gaze to Kayko's.
"Yeah. I feel like I understand you too." Kasumi smiles a little. Kayko starts laughing and brings her knees to her chest resting her arms on top of her knees pointing at Kasumi.
"Hey look the corners of your mouth actually turn up." Kayko and Kasumi share a laugh together.
"Smart ass. You know that's something I would say just to piss my Dad off and it works very easily."
"Yeah I say that to my Mom too. So we have a lot more in common then we thought huh?" Kayko chuckles. Kasumi puts her magazine down sitting up looking at Kayko.
"Yeah. I guess so."
"So when's your birthday?" Kayko questions to start conversation.
"August 24th." Kasumi sighs. Kayko's eyes widen.
"No way. So is mine." Kayko looks excited, Kasumi raises her eyebrow feeling weird.
"Really?"
"Uh-huh. What time do you know?"
"Um about 6:45pm." Kasumi shrugs. Kayko's excitement dies down a lot and she looks disturbed. Kasumi sees this and looks curious. "And you?"
"6:47pm." Kayko says quietly. They stare each other in the eyes feeling butterflies in their stomachs. They quickly look away from each other falling silent. Kasumi decides to break the silence between them.
"So what do your parents do for a living?"
"Well my Mom works with my Great Grandpa at his shrine and she's a famous wedding dress designer." Kayko shrugs. Kasumi's eyes widen a little and she looks confused.
"So you mean to tell me. Your Mom's a highly successful wedding dress designer and you live in the middle class?" Kayko nods her head.
"She has this sour thing about high class people."
"Why?"
"I don't know. She never told me why."
"Doesn't your Dad try to convince her otherwise?" Kasumi moves to end of her bed getting closer to Kayko. Kayko shrugs her shoulders again.
"He probably would if I had a Dad. But I don't so no." Kasumi covers her mouth quickly feeling bad.
"Sorry. Did he die?"
"No. I really don't know what my Dad is doing or where he is. My Mom doesn't talk about him and when I ask she gets uptight on me."
"Wow that sucks." Kasumi looks down. Kayko nods her head.
"Yep. What does your Mom do for a living?" Kayko changes the subject. Kasumi bites her bottom lip and sigh.
"I don't have a Mom." They once again stare at each other really feeling those butterflies. Kayko stands up from her bed and places her hands on her stomach.
"Kasumi I don't know about you but I have a weird feeling." Kayko tells her. Kasumi quickly nods her head agreeing looking down at her lap.
"I do too."
"Do you think we can be-" Kayko cuts herself off feeling scared. Kasumi scoffs and shakes her head no.
"Like one and million chances Kayko. Do you have your parents wedding picture?"
"Yeah but-"
"Ha you see." Kasumi once again cuts her off. "I do too but only I have my Mom because its-"
"Torn the down the middle." Kayko finishes Kasumi's sentence as she slowly sits back down on her bed. Kasumi nods her head slowly.
"Exactly." They both run to their suitcase and pull out a half torn picture. They stand in front of each other looking scared.
"Oh Kasumi this is freaking me out big time."
"I know what you mean. Ok on three. One."
"Two."
"Three." They both say at the same time connecting the picture perfectly together they both gasps in shock.
"Hey that's my Mom!" Kayko shouts as she looks at Kasumi's half.
"And that's my Dad!" Kasumi shouts looking at Kayko's half. They both look at each other and hug each other tightly laughing. "So we're sisters." Kasumi laughs a little. Kayko laughs harder and shakes her head.
"We're twins." They hug each other again laughing.
Later that night they lay in the same bed talking and laughing. Kayko sighs loudly.
"Wow I wish I could see the estate sometime." Kasumi sits up quickly smiling widely.
"You can." She looks at Kayko. Kayko sits up looking at her.
"Right and I'm just going to call Mom and ask her if I can go home with my twin sister and see Dad." Kayko snaps sarcastically and rolls her eyes.
"No stupid. You never seen Dad and you wanna see him right?"
"Yeah."
"And I never seen Mom and I know damn well I wanna see her with all my being."
"I'm not following." Kayko looks confused. Kasumi sighs and shakes her head.
"Let's switch places. Duh!!" Kayko jumps up out of bed looking at Kasumi.
"ARE YOU CRAZY KASUMI?!!!!" Kayko calms herself down a bit then continues. "Mom and Dad are just going to find out and switch us back."
"Exactly Kayko now you're thinking." Kasumi laughs getting out the bed. "Look when Mom and Dad switch us back they'll have to meet each other face to face." She winks at her sister. Kayko gasps covering her mouth.
"No! You're not thinking what I think you're thinking are you?"
"If it involves Mom and Dad getting back together you're right on the money." Kasumi sits on her bed, Kayko sighs and sits next to her.
"There's no way this will work."
"Yes it will just trust me."
"But I know nothing how you live and you know nothing how I live."
"Well duh we can teach each other." Kasumi rolls her eyes. "We have three weeks left we can do it."
The next day, Kasumi sits on her bed brushing her shoulder length hair and putting it up in a ponytail. Kayko walks into the cabin rubbing her legs.
"Man I think I got like three freaking bug bites. That's so gross." Kayko sits on her bed and pulls her middle back length hair into a ponytail. Kasumi gasps loudly looking at Kayko. Kayko looks confused. "What now?"
"We have a problem." Kasumi bites her bottom lip.
"What?"
"Well your hair goes to your middle back and my is shoulder length. I have to cut it." Kasumi shrugs. Kayko's eyes widen quickly.
"Are you crazy Kasumi? No way. No how. NO can do." Kayko crosses her arms looking the other way. Kasumi moans and lays on her stomach.
"Kayko come on. I can't go to camp with shoulder length hair and come home a month later with middle back hair. Do you wan to meet Dad or not?" Kasumi sits up crossing her arms. Kayko sighs and nods her head. "Now hand me the scissors."
"Ah how do I get myself into these situations?" Kayko looks up and moans out.
Kasumi smiles widely as she looks at her twin sister. Kasumi crosses her arms.
"And there you are done. Now you look like my twin." Kasumi takes a mirror and shows Kayko. Kayko laughs and feels her new hair style.
"Wow Kasumi this is great. How long have you been cutting hair?"
"This was my first day on the job but I should start taking up hair cutting classes right?" Kasumi laughs at her sister's broken expression. Kayko growls and stands up from the chair.
"You mean to tell me you never done this before?! What if you messed up?"
"But I didn't." Kasumi shrugs. "Now it's time to get to work."
After three long weeks of teaching each other the dos and don'ts. It was time for everyone to go home. Kasumi and Kayko walk with each other looking nervous.
"Well I'm going to see Mom." Kasumi smiles as she looks at her new clothes. Blue jean shorts, a pink tank top and white and pink sneakers.
"And I'm going to see Dad." Kayko laughs also looking her new clothing. A black one piece dress fitting dress, a small white jacket that stops at her upper back and black sandals.
(A.N: And yes she has a pedicure Kasumi gave her a French one at that. I just thought I should that.....*.*)
"Give Mom a big hug for me." Kayko smiles.
"And you give Dad a big hug for me."
"And oh just remember Miroku is a little on the crazy side so please don't take him seriously." Kayko laughs. Kasumi nods her head.
"And oh Sesshoumaru may look mean but he adores me so don't worry and Rin is a little on the emotional side so please bare with it."
"Ok." They both laugh together.
"Kasumi Shikon you limo have arrived. Again Kasumi Shikon your limo has arrived." The head counselor says on the loud speaker. They hug each other tightly.
"You better be off Kasumi." Kasumi giggles lightly.
"Ok. Bye Kayko." Kayko laughs and they each other again before going off separate ways.
Kayko sits on the plane going to California, she nervously places her hands on her stomach.
'I hope Dad doesn't notice. But I wonder what he's like. Well there's only one way to find out. California here I come.' Kayko smiles looking out the window.
Kasumi sits back in her seat on her way to Japan looking out the window she thinks.
'I never even been to Japan before but I have to learn to act normal and I can't act too excited when I see Mom. Ooh I can't wait I'm so excited.' Kasumi laughs a little to herself.
