The Job
"One job. Minimum wage. Was that asking too much?" Kagome thought to herself as she rounded the corner to the next block. She began scanning the windows out of habit for any help wanted signs, and was extremely close to calling it quits for the day. Then she saw it. A small shop tucked between a used book shop and small café. She hurried up to the building and read the sign:
"The Parlor: Tattoos and Piercing. This could work." Kagome thought to herself. She opened the door and was greeted by heavy guitar riffs and a surprisingly brightly lit shop. The surrounding walls were covered by hundreds of tattoo examples and to her left was a waiting room with black and white checkered tile and poofy red chairs and side tables filled with magazines.
"Hey, can I help you?" A feminine voice called out to her. Startled, Kagome jumped and the girl laughed.
"Sorry about that, I have that affect on most people." The girl said, smiling. "I'm Sango, can I help you? Do you need directions?"
Directions? "No, I'm not lost, I saw you help wanted sign and stopped by to get an application." Kagome stated.
"You want to work here?" Sango questioned uncertainly.
"Yeah-wh-" Kagome suddenly realized why the girl seemed so perplexed at her request. She wasn't exactly dressed like someone who would even think about getting a tattoo in her sickeningly smart work suit.
"This isn't my usual dress." Kagome said, feeling stupid.
"God, I hoped not, you look extremely uncomfortable." Sango said still smiling.
"I'm Kagome, by the way, has the position been filled?"
"No it hasn't, but we don't exactly do things the conventional way around here, we go straight to the interview with the owner. Inuyasha's not so much into pussyfooting around things, if he thinks you'll work, you'll work. Just be yourself, Inu's a little rough around the edges, but he's generally a good judge of character." Sango explained. "He's out right now, though, he should be back soon if you want to wait."
"Sure, why not?" Kagome didn't have anywhere better to be.
About an hour passed and Kagome and Sango sat chatting in the waiting room. It turned out that Sango was not all that different from Kagome, she was 19, had a little brother and enjoyed many of the same pastimes as Kagome, namely shopping and music.
"So how is it working here?" Kagome asked.
"It's really great. The guys are awesome, they have there faults, but they're really talented. You can check out some of their original designs over in those portfolios." Sango said pointing to the front desk as a phone faintly rang. "I'll be right back." Sango took off at a sprint to catch the phone. Kagome got up and made her way over to the desk and opened the portfolio labeled "Inu's Originals". She slightly leaned over the desk and began flipping thorough the pages.
Inuyasha made his way up to the front of his shop and walked in the front door. As usual the music was cranked up so high that the chime on the door couldn't be heard. He noticed a girl bent over the front desk. He noticed the long black hair and the built and began to sneek up behind up who he foolishly assumed to be his girlfriend, Kikyou. A mischievous grin spread across his handsome features. He stalked up behind her and soundlessly grabbed her around the waist pushed his pelvis against her backside and began to nuzzle her neck and breath in her sweet, clean scent. He then noticed she was doing an awful lot of squirming and let out and panicked scream as she wriggled out of his reach and turned around hand ready in slap position. Inuyasha quickly registered that this girl wasn't Kikyou, but not quick enough to prevent her hand from stinging the side of his face.
"YOU!!" They both yelled in unison.
