She woke up to the smell o coffee and an annoying chirping next to her ear.
"Hmm?" she questioned lifting her head
Sango was on her computer and had two cups of coffee out for her and Kagome's too
"Hey sleeping beauty! Your coffee was getting cold. You don't wanna be late for Mr. Takahsi's class "
she lectured combing out her naturally strait hair.
Kagome smiled. She felt good with her roommate She was sooo nice, but her walls wouldn't fall
"Thanks Sango " Sango watched her roomie lazily get up and immediately was jealous, she had beautiful
bed head, her face was clear and her body was so thin.
"Gosh, you must have all the boys!" Sango said sending envious stares at her roomie.
Kagome looked at her in confusion.
"What are you talking about?" Kagome asked in surprise. She looked at her lanky body and shuffled in
her feet underneath her in shame "I'm not pretty and guys think I'm strange and shy " Kagome sighed
Sango stared at her and started laughing hysterically!
Kagome began to feel selfconcious and awkward and started towards the door in her oversized t-shirt
and her tube socks.
"W-wait!" Sango said in between laughs Kagome stopped with a darker expression clouding her
beautiful face.
"You are soooooo pretty sweetie!" Sango said incredulously.
Kagome felt like that was a slap in the face. The lies people would say to make you feel better.
"Thanks but you don't have to sugar coat anything to make me feel better " kagome said turning the
knob to reach the shower room, leaving a confused Sango behind her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After being freshly showered she dressed in her worn out jeans and a plain white v-neck t-shirt she
pulled her wet waves into a pony tail and walked out to her truck to get to the library for awhile before
class.
She walked in and saw an old woman stacking boxes and quickly dropped her bag to help her.
"Hi umm, here let me help you " she grabbed the box the older woman was struggling with.
The elderly woman looked to her side and beamed at Kagome.
"Thank ye child These books are so heavy!" she said putting a hand on her back to steady herself
She smiled and picked up the last box to stack.
"If you don't mind me asking miss "
"Keade "
"Keade, why are you stacking all these boxes of books it doesn't look like you have many here "
kagome gestured to the shelves.
Keade sighed.
"Technology may be a good thing child, but nothing can beat the hardcore research of a book. Pages
filled with unending knowledge, written down by people who dedicate themselves to research " she said
as she ran her old boney fingers over the binding of a heavy book.
Kagome smiled at the way she described books "That was like poetry ma' m " she took out her journal
and jotted down the line she said.
"Child?" Keade said getting her attention "First one is free, next one you share profits with me " she
smiled in a joking manner.
Kagome bowed and excused herself but not before Keade tapped her shoulder.
" young miko with such a dark past, you might wanna read about purification and reconciliation "
Keade handed her a purple/mauve color book with a small pink color jewel on the front.
Kagome looked up to see Keade was nowhere in sight.
Little did she know a certain Hanyo saw the whole thing and learned two things?
1. she was the most gracious girl he'd ever seen
2. She was a miko?
He watched her walk to the desk with the book she took out her psych book as well and watched her
debate on what to read. He didn't know why he was so hung up on her but he was.
She chose the psych book and open to the mid-section on mental repression.
She knew she had things hidden.
so she opened her laptop and researched it as well.
"-Psychological repression, or simply repression, according to Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic
theory, is the involuntary psychological act of excluding desires and impulses (wishes, fantasies
or feelings) from one's consciousness and holding or subduing them in the unconscious. Since
Freud's work in psychoanalysis, repression is now accepted as a defense mechanism by
psychoanalytic psychologists; however, there remains some debate as to whether (or how often)
repression really happen and mainstream psychology holds that true repression occurs only very
rarely."
Kagome continued reading the book, something sparked...could there be something repressed
and that's why she couldn't remember what happened to her or her mom.
"It is often claimed that traumatic events are repressed, yet it appears that the trauma more often
strengthens memories due to heightened emotional or physical sensations. (These sensations may
also cause distortions, though human memory in general is filtered by layers of perception and
incompletion). One problem from an objective research point of view is that a "memory" must be
measured and recorded by a person's actions or conscious expressions, which may be filtered
through current thoughts and motivations."
"So repressing feelings huh?" A masculine voice said behind her.
She jumped and squeaked when she saw his molten eyes and his sun kissed skin, his silver hair
was hidden by yet another bandana.
"Your Kagome right? I'm Inuyasha." his smile made her heart race.
She smiled.
"Yea...hi." she said trying to keep from blushing.
Inuyasha saw the small pink tinge in her cheek.
"Well, I can tell you're not from around here." he siad casually sitting down earning envious
glares from other guys in the library.
"Well you would be mistakened. I was born here actually." she said averting her eyes to the
purple book beside her and decided on descreatly putting it in her bag.
Inuyasha watched her movements, he noticed she was ery stealthy and fast if he'd been a human
he's never have noticed her putting the book in her bag.
"Really?" He said more than asked.
"Yes, my father was american and he came oer here on buisness and met my mother. One thing
led to another and I was born. I guess you could say I'm a half-breed." she said grudglingly.
Inuyasha was shoked beyond words by her choice of words.
"What do you mean?"
"Well I'm half american and half japanese. I don't really look like I belong here." she said
selfconciously.
Inuyasha tucked his finger under her chin and forced her eyes to meet his. Her breath escaped her
body as she saw his gorgeous eyes engulf her own.
"You definitely belong here." he said with a hidden promise, his hand never leaving her face.
she felt her heart raceing, she couldn't wrap her head around this feeling.
"Umm Inuyasha? Could you ummm....." she couldn't thik straight as his face came in closer.
his face came in closer, his purple irises growing darker.
"You don't tell your mommy what happened here or I will kill her, your brother, and you." he
threw her agarist the wall and stormed out of the room leaveing the broken girl on the floor.
She woke up the next morning up beat and positive like nothing happened the night before.
she shivered in fear and before she could recognise what was happening she was leaving
Inuyasha in her wake as she sped out of th library to some place safe, calming.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"what?" inuyasha thought as he couldn't believe how fast she moved.
he just sat there dumbstruck.
his feet decied his body and her followed her where ever she was going.
~~~~~~~~~~~
her running turned into a sprint and she couldn't tell where she was going just that she felt where
ever it was it was so peaceful.
She stopped infront of some stairs and just stared at the monumental size.
her body carried her up the stairs until she saw a shrine.
her heart seemed at ease when she walked into the shrine, she saw an old man sweeping before
her and she smiled and bowed curtiously, she walked in.
"Young lady?" the elder gentleman called.
she turned to see him with a box in his hand.her curiousity grew as he beconded her over to him.
He was smiling as if he knew her.
"Yes Sir?" he put the box in her hands.
"You might want this." he said with a laugh and patted her hands once the box was safely in her
hands.
Kagome's shy quiet nature bcame the better of her.
"Sir I can't take this."
And like that he was gone.
she opened the box....
