Chapter 5:

The next morning dawned bright and clear, the sun light reflecting off the dew that covered every thing exposed. Kagome and Inuyasha were up first, thus the duties of `get cleaned up and cook breakfast' landed on them.

“Why do we have to do this again?” Inuyasha whined. He already knew the answer. So we can wake up the others, however we want.

”So we can wake up the others, “ Kagome had an rather nasty smirk on her face, “Any way we want to.” For a moment Inuyasha wondered who was more evil, Kagome or Naraku, it was close.

Kagome finished the oats and allowed them to simmer. She stood up and crossed over to Inuyasha. Sitting down next to him, the pair sat there looking rather cute, as Shippo put it. He wasn't planning on moving until he had too. Which came along about five minutes later.

“Look Inuyasha,” Kagome pointed to a rather small, dark cloud, “that looks kind of like Naraku's…” She trailed off realizing what, or rather, who it was.

“Naraku.” Inuyasha groweled. Kirara and Shippo got up, Kirara yawned, but Shippo went straight for Sango. He started shaking her awake.

Inuyasha on the other hand kicked Miroku in the ribs and hauled him to his feet, “Time to go monk,” he snaraled, “Naraku's here.”

Miroku slammed out of what ever dream he was trying to continue, and threw his stuff together.

Sango woke up fairly quickly and also put her stuff together. The total camp breakdown time was less than five minutes. Inuyasha was surprised that they were even capable of doing it that fast. Normaly it took at least an hour or two. I guess they just need the right incentive. He thought, picking up Kagome as Kirara transformed and Sango, Miroku, and Shippo mounted.

They took off. Kirara sped silently along, paws not touching the ground. Miroku sat a foot or so behind Sango, and Shippo had perched himself on the back of Kirara's neck.

Inuyasha had Kagome on his back. One arm under each leg, and her arms wrapped over his shoulders and onto his chest.

He took another leap, flying above the trees. They were gaining ground on Naraku, and he tried to go faster. But to no avail.

Come and fight me motherfucker, Inuyasha thought, tessiga suppressing his demon blood as it raged inside of him, attempting to burst forth so it could destroy the thing he hated so much.

Kagome felt Inuyasha pulse, the demon blood boiling, wrestling for control. Kagome held tighter. Willing him to not transform.

“Hidicoatsu!” yelled Sango, hurling her boomerang forward.

It glanced off of Naraku's barrier. Well, thought Naraku, it seems as if I'm going to have to fight them. He had been on the move for days, and he was starting to feel it. If he kept going they would catch him after he was forced to rest.

He veered toward an open field. Inuyasha, in close pursuit, paused and set Kagome down on the tree-line. Drawing tessiga, he gave her a meaningful look just before he charged after Naraku.

Kagome was a little shocked at this before following him. Kirara, Shippo, Sango, and Miroku touched down about 20 yards (that's about 19.5 meters) away on her right. She was so focused on catching up with Inuyasha that she almost didn't notice.

Up ahead Kagome and the others saw Naraku send tenticals shooting for Inuyasha, which he easily slashed aside.

Sesshomaru stopped, and felt the increasingly troublesome toad demon, Jaken, collide with the back of his leg
