Instructions in Abduction
Chapter 2
The man chuckled and brushed some non-existent dust from his yukata. He stood for a moment as the other guests held their breath and watched the drama unfold.
“I thought you would have figured it out sooner,” He reached his hand up and delicately took the mask off his face. “Little brother.”
“Don't you dare call me that!” InuYasha snarled fiercely. “You are nothing but a filthy love child!”
Kagome was shocked, both at InuYasha's behavior and what she was hearing. Did that man just say `little brother?' she thought. Surely they can't be related! Her breath hitched in her throat as the mask fell to the ground, in what appeared to be slow motion. She quickly inferred he was indeed a demon from the navy crescent moon on his forehead, and the magenta stripes that ran along his cheeks. Kagome heard whispers sweep through the crowd like a raging wildfire. She heard someone murmur,
“It's Sesshoumaru-san…what's he doing here?”
So that's the stranger's name, Kagome thought. Sesshoumaru…
She continued to study the man named Sesshoumaru, who had so boldly kissed her, as she remained in the protective embrace of InuYasha. Sesshoumaru certainly was well endowed in looks. He had comely Japanese cheekbones, long thick hair and eyelashes. His lips were full and had a shapely arch to them.
Kagome was startled when she saw his eyes. She hadn't noticed before, but they were the exact color and shape as InuYasha's! Yet they were completely different. When Sesshoumaru looked at her with his eyes, Kagome felt chills rather than warmth, like when InuYasha looked at her.
“Otousan banished you from ever coming to this place! How dare you defile this place, and father's dying wish, with your presence! Leave at once!” InuYasha's anger seemed to fill the entire courtyard.
Kagome stared in awe at the contorted face of her fiancé, and the calm, stoic, face of Sesshoumaru. She looked on, incredulously, as he took the verbal beating totally expressionless. He inspected his nails and occasionally picked at some dirt.
After about five minutes of ranting, the Emperor of Japan finished a particularly colorful spew of words. He stared challengingly at Sesshoumaru, huffing slightly. Sesshoumaru in turn raised a silvery eyebrow.
“Are you quite finished?” He asked silkily. “And if I remember correctly, Otousan said her never wanted to see me here as long as he was alive.” Sesshoumaru feigned looking around for someone, his eyes lasting only a second longer on Kagome's, before slipping back to InuYasha's. “I don't see him here. Do you?”
InuYasha let out an angry growl. His grip involuntarily tightened around Kagome's arms. She winced as his claws dug into her skin. Traditional kimonos had long billowy sleeves. Kagome disliked them, as they got in her way anytime she tried to use her hands. InuYasha agreed to have all her future kimonos and yukatas be sleeveless, or short at least.
“InuYasha-sama…” She squeaked. He ignored her and gripped her arms tighter, breaking the smooth skin. Kagome gasped in pain and struggled to hold back the tears collecting at the corners of her eyes.
Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes at his brother.
“Baka. Kyoskete, can't you see you're hurting your wench?” InuYasha let off a territorial growl again, but Kagome was startled. She abhorred being called wench, but had a look of concern flicked in Sesshoumaru's eyes for a moment? If it had, it was now gone and the normal look of boredom and cynicism reappeared.
“Urusai!” InuYasha practically screamed back.
The emperor discourteously dropped Kagome to the ground as he drew his sword. The weapon made a sickening sound, like metal scraped across metal, as it left its sheath with lightning speed. There was a collective gasp from the crowd, and several women screamed. Kagome felt warm blood slowly ooze from the wound and run down her arm's lengths.
“Your eminence!” Kagome pleaded, lightly tugging on his obi. “InuYasha-sama! Kudasai, stop this!”
InuYasha pushed away Kagome's hands.
“Guards! Please escort the Hime to her rooms. I will deal with this bastard!”
Kagome felt two pairs of strong hands grip her bleeding arms. She knew she had little choice but to listen to the emperor's wish, and depart. She cast on last pleading glance towards InuYasha, who promptly ignored it, before allowing herself to be lead away.
As she walked, Kagome kept her eyes on her ground and watched her feet move foreword, seemingly on their own accord. She made no move to wipe the blood that still trickled down her arms. Why hadn't she been able to him? Why hadn't she acted sooner? Her thoughts were interrupted when she noticed one of the guards was talking to her.
“Don't worry, Kagome-hime,” the burly man said gruffly. “We'll make sure no harm comes to you.” Kagome noticed the man's palm was sweaty against her shoulder and he was refusing to look her in the eye.
Suddenly, a memory sparked in Kagome's brain that hit her like a ten-ton elephant.
“Hold on,” Kagome said, stopping in her tracks. “Those uniforms. Those aren't the ones InuYasha-heika issued.” She gasped. An ambush. Someone had planned an ambush against the emperor, and these men were in on it!
Kagome skillfully shrugged her way out of the fake guard's clutches and ran as fast as she could, back to the courtyard. I've got to warn somebody, she thought franticly.
It was not long until Kagome heard the loud rhythmic pound of feet against the earth; presumably the two `guards.' Kagome knew that she could not outrun the two louts behind her while wearing her kimono. Still, she ran on. Perhaps someone would come to save her. She stumbled on a tree stump. Kagome struggled as she picked herself upright.
As she started to run, the same powerful hands that had grabbed her before encircled her wrist and threatened to pull it out of its very socket. Kagome gasped in pain as she felt her body roughly dragged backwards. Her hair fell out of the elegant bun it had previously been.
A hard object connected with Kagome's skull. Bright lights exploded before her eyes and she felt her body collapse into the waiting arms of her attackers. The last thing Kagome saw was a black hood being slipped over her head, and her body being hoisted over a shoulder.
Kagome moaned as she clutched her head. It felt unnaturally heavy on her shoulders. Her eyesight was still blurry and still a bit watery.
Waiting a few moments, she pushed her upper body up with her hands behind her acting like a brace. She was in a roped off area along with some other women, some of which she recognized from the palace. They all looked as if they were on the verge of fainting. Kagome would have felt much more scared had she not felt so vexed now. The way those heathens had handled her like she was a mere sack of potatoes. The thought of it set Kagome aflame with a furious passion.
After further inspection, she saw there were very few guards around, all of which wearing the fake armor. They mingled and drank. Some were injured, but only a few. Kagome was about to stand up and tell one of those thugs off, when she noticed her feet were bound with a thick rope.
Kagome wanted to scream in frustration, and she was about to when the flap of the most important tent was pushed aside to reveal several distinguished looking men. The last to come out was the man called Sesshoumaru. He was harshly speaking to an official while wiping blood from his blade.
She blanched. Blood? What on earth had happened when she had been taking away?
“Sesshoumaru!” Kagome was surprised to hear her voice call out to him. Even more surprising was her tone of voice. It was heavily laced with anger and had a substantial amount of commanding venom. She was scolding him!
Sesshoumaru looked as shocked as she felt. That emotion was quickly replaced with his signature haughtiness. With one last swipe of his sword, he sheathed it and strode towards the captured women and defiant princess.
The other women squeaked in fear, but Kagome would not give Sesshoumaru the benefit of seeing how nervous she truly was. He stopped several feet away from Kagome, studying her carefully.
“So this is my brother's wench,” he mused. Kagome jutted out her jaw. Sesshoumaru strode forward the last few feet and roughly grabbed her chin. He yanked it to the side so he might see her profile better. “Yes, a very lovely countenance indeed. I'm surprised brother-yarou picked her. I didn't know hanyous had such good taste. Strange though,” he said in his emotionless voice, “she does not look the slightest bit Japanese.” Kagome narrowed her eyes and clenched her hands into fists.
“I could say the same thing about you!” She spat. There was a collective gasp. Anger flooded Sesshoumaru's eyes. Kagome felt her courage dissipate staring into his blatantly livid face.
He grabbed Kagome around the throat and hoisted her up into the air as easily as one picks up a small toy. Everyone watched in horror and fascination as Sesshoumaru held the struggling woman in the air by her neck.
Kagome clawed at his hand that was constricting her air passage. She gasped, trying to get air, yet receiving none. Her feet dangled below her and she felt so heavy.
“I will kill my baka half-brother's whore right now, as an example to everyone. I will do whatever it takes to gain control of the Eastern Empire. I will show you how strong I am.” His grip tightened.
It was almost a euphoric feeling. Every pore in her body was open and she was covered in a cold sweat. Her lungs burned due to a lack of oxygen. She felt his hand tighten his vice-like grip. Strange choking noises emerged, unintentionally, from her mouth. Kagome saw darkness gnawing at the corners of her vision. She found Sesshoumaru's gaze and stared. He had an odd look on his face. His eyes were so hard and closed off. What a strange man…Kagome thought.
Suddenly, air flowed down Kagome's throat, almost choking her. She felt her heavy body hit the ground. The only sound in the surrounding area was Kagome's coughs and deep breaths. She lightly massaged her neck.
Kagome looked up only to see Sesshoumaru's indignant form stalking away, angrily pushing things out of his way.
“Wait!” Kagome called out, her voice extremely hoarse. “Sesshoumaru, wait!” A minister raised his hand against Kagome. She flinched. He brought his hand down, pleased with her reaction.
“You will address TennÅ Heika with the proper respect!”
“TennÅ Heika?” Kagome thought aloud.
“Yes! The honored Lord of the West!”
So here we are again! I feel really dumb, not having anything outrageously interesting to say. Hm... I guess I can say the story can only get better from now on. It is loosely based on the Red River manga series. My sister introduced me to those books, and I've been obsessed with them ever since. They are so awesome. I would recommend anyone into manga, hot guys, and romance to read the series. For mature readers though. There are quite a few...moments that might not be appropriate for the younger audience. Oh, there's a thing I should be doing.

Disclaimer: I do not own InuYasha or anything that Rumiko T. came up with. I do, however, own characters coming up in the story, and a dog.
