A/n: Hey everyone and thank you for the reviews. Wow, I was really surprised not only by the amount of reviews I got, but also by the fact that they were all good reviews. I was really expecting to get at least 1 flame, which I probably deserve from the 11 people who reviewed chapter 1 before I accidentally deleted it, along with all their reviews. Gomen again. I'm a tad bit dense, but I promise not to delete a fanfic ever again. Please forgive me.

Oh yeah, and sorry about leaving out a few words last chap.

I tend to do that. I think faster than I type, and that's just what happens. But, I proofread this chapter first, and I'm pretty sure I fixed it all up this time.

( I hand lollipop to Sesshoumaru, who looks down at it like it just called him something crude, before handing it to Rin)

The Prom chapter two

So Friday the first of May came, the night the prom would be held. It is now 6:00 pm and a very frustrated Kagome is in The Forest of Inu Yasha, trying desperately to get the stubborn Hanyou to which the forest is named after, to come with her through The Bone Eaters Well back into her own time.

Kagome: "C'mon Inu Yasha"

Inu Yasha: "But I'm not in my human form yet"

Kagome: "So? That's not an excuse. You can still get dressed now"

Inu Yasha: " We've still got ages"

Kagome: " It starts in an hour"

Inu Yasha: " It doesn't take me an hour to get ready"

Kagome: "You promised me. Please Inu Yasha"

Inu Yasha shut up for a moment to look over at Kagome.

Seeing the desperate, pleading expression on her face, he couldn't help but give in and accept his defeat.

"Alright" he said irritably, and stomped off towards the well in a not so rare tantrum, and jumped in without looking back to check that Kagome was following him.

"Ah Konban Wa (good evening) " Kagome's mother said in her usual cheerful manner to Inu Yasha after he abruptly entered her home without permission, and began trudging up the stairs towards Kagome's room.

Mama: "Your tux is hanging up on the back of Kagome's door"

Kagome: "Mama, where is he?"

Mama: "Oh hello Kagome, Inu Yasha just went to your bedroom, although make sure to knock first, I think he might be getting changed"

* KNOCK KNOCK *

Kagome: "Inu Yasha, Is it all right for me to come in?"

Inu Yasha: " Its fine"

Kagome: " I hope you got the tux on alrigh…AHHH"

An unsuspecting Kagome screamed, when she entered her room to find Inu Yasha, standing in the middle of the floor, looking straight towards her, with no pants on.

It was at this time that Kagome made a mental note to thank her mother for remembering to give Inu Yasha a pair of underpants to go with his tux, for if it weren't for these, there would be nothing left for the imagination.

Kagome: 'Inu Yasha, get the pants on.'

Inu Yasha: 'I don't know how to do them up"

Kagome: " What's wrong?"

Inu Yasha: "I don't know what to do with this part"

Inu Yasha lifted up the pants and pointed at the zip.

Kagome: "Oh that's the zip. You just pull it up"

Inu Yasha slipped his right leg into the black pants, shortly followed by his right. He pulled them up to his waist and tried Kagome's suggestion of pulling the zip, but to no avail.

Inu Yasha: "Its not working"

Kagome: " Try doing the button above the zip up first. Now try pulling it up"

So, Inu Yasha tried again. Not working. He tried again. Not working. Beginning to get frustrated, he tried pulling at the zip again, this time with more force. Still not working.

Kagome: "No, no, no. You're going to break the zip soon. These pants must be a little small for you. Here let me try."

Inu Yasha couldn't help but blush as Kagome bent down to his crotch and gently took hold of the zip of his pants.

She tried carefully to avoid bumping her hand on his package anywhere along the way while fixing up his fly, but of coarse, with the pants being a little tight on Inu Yasha, this type of contact was inevitable, with her hand gently knocking into this part of Inu Yasha's anatomy four short times.

She blushed, but did her best to ignore it, as she stood back up, still only centimetres in front of Inu Yasha.

" There, it's all fixed" she managed to get out.

Inu Yasha didn't respond to this, as he found himself staring at Kagome, his blush still present, in a sort of embarrassed daze. Kagome's expression mirrored Inu Yasha's, and they stayed in that awkward position for close to ten seconds, before Inu Yasha snapped back to reality, quick to say something that would hopefully put their minds back on track.

Inu Yasha: "So where did you get the Tux from?"

Kagome: (after quickly shaking her head out of her daze) "Oh, ah, it was my fathers."

Inu Yasha: "Your fathers"

Kagome: "Yeah, he married Mama in it."

* Knock Knock *

Kagome: " Come in"

Kagome's mother enters the room, carrying a purple dress over her arm

Mama: "Kagome, are you ready to get this on?"

Kagome: "Yeah just leave it on my bed"

Mama: " Okay. Does that fit you alright Inu Yasha?"

Inu Yasha: " The pant's are a bit tight, but other than that its fine"

Mama: " Good, I'll put your other clothes in the wash then okay"

Inu Yasha: " Okay"

Mama: " Alright. Lets leave so that Kagome can change, and I might do something with your hair, if that's alright with you of coarse?"

Inu Yasha followed Kagome's mother out of the room, and closed the door, leaving Kagome alone, still a little shaken up from what happened between her and Inu Yasha just moments before.

"I'm done" Kagome called from her bedroom, well over half an hour later.

Mama: " Lets see it then"

Kagome's mother and Inu Yasha both moved to the bottom of the stairs to see Kagome as she came walking out of her room. She had tied her hair back into a tight bun, with a small tiara resting on top of her head. Her dress almost reached the floor. It was a brilliant purple, with a layer of organza over the top, also purple. (a/n: organza is a transparent, lightweight fabric used in formal dresses.)

2 thin straps on Kagome's shoulder were holding the dress up.

She had a necklace and bracelet to match, along with some very high-heeled shoes, which Kagome seemed to be having some trouble walking in.

She blushed, as she looked down at her mother and Inu Yasha, now in his human form, watching her. She had also noticed that Inu Yasha's hair was now tied in a low ponytail behind his head.

Kagome: "So, how does it look?"

Mama: " Kagome, you look amazing. Just wait there for a minute while go and fetch my camera"

Kagome: " Oh great, photos" (sarcastic voice intended)

It didn't take long for Kagome's mother to come running back with a small camera in her hand. She lifted it up to her eyes and pointed it at her daughter.

Mama: " Smile Kagome."

* SNAP *

Mama: "Okay, now I want one of you and Inu Yasha together. Inu Yasha, would you mind walking up there and standing with Kagome"

Inu Yasha, not sure of what Kagome's mother was doing exactly with that strange silver box she has, obeyed and climbed the stairs, standing next to Kagome once he had reached the top.

Mama: "Okay now put an arm around her"

Inu Yasha: " Why?"

Kagome: " It's for the photo. Were going to get a lot of these done tonight, unfortunately"

Still unsure, he put his arm around Kagome anyway.

Mama: " Okay, now say cheese"

Inu Yasha: " What?"

* SNAP *

Erri ( Kagome's friend with the headband): " Kagome, your late"

Kagome: "Gomen, I was late getting home to get ready"

Yuka (Friend with short hair): " So, where is he?"

Kagome looked next to her to find that Inu Yasha wasn't standing there. Instead, he was standing just inside the door, looking around the community hall, which was where the prom was being held. Kagome sighed, before making her way towards him and leading him back towards where her friends were waiting, by the arm.

Kagome: "Here he is"

Yuka: "…So are you going to introduce us?"

Kagome: " Oh, sorry. Inu Yasha, this is Yuka, Erri and Ayumi (friend with curly hair, which appears have been straitened just for tonight). Guys, this is Inu Yasha"

" IN - INU YASHA?" All three of Kagome's friends repeated in unison.

Ayumi: "Inu Yasha as in…dog demon?"

Kagome: " Uh…its…its his nickname."

Yuka and Erri turn to each other, hands shielding their mouths from the others view, in the hopes that they wont be heard.

Yuka (whisper): " Kagome's boyfriend really IS a badass then"

Erri (whispering back): "So it seems"

Kagome: "So, who did you guys come with?"

Erri: " I came with Kazui from the same class as Hojo"

Kagome: " Oh, that's right, he's your neighbour, isn't he?"

Erri: "Yeah, and Ayumi came with Ryuichi from class C"

Kagome: " Oh, that guy who was making a big deal about you at Mac Donald's that time, right Ayumi? "

Ayumi (blushing): " Yeah, he asked me to go with him"

Kagome: " And what about you Yuka?"

Yuka: " Well… actually I came with…"

Hojo: " Higurashi?"

Kagome: " Ah Hojo-kun. Konban wa. Who are you here with?"

Yuka: " He's here with me, actually"

Kagome: " Hontou, with you?"

Yuka nodded.

It was then that Hojo noticed Inu Yasha standing with Kagome.

Hojo: "…So, this is?"

Kagome: " Inu Yasha. Inu Yasha, this is Hojo-kun, remember I told you about him?"

Oh, Inu Yasha remembered all right. So THIS is the guy who was asking Kagome out. He sure is pansy looking. Inu Yasha didn't even have to be in his demon form to pick up this guys annoying stench. Hang on; he had smelt this before, and on Kagome too.

Hojo forced a smile at Inu Yasha, while Inu Yasha simply gave him an ice-cold stare.

Hojo: " Its nice to meet you"

Hojo held out his hand for Inu Yasha to shake, but Inu Yasha simply gave his hand the same glare he had previously given Hojo's face, and remained with his arms crossed. Kagome, sensing trouble, put her hand on Hojo's wrist, and pushed it back down, telling Hojo to give up on attempting to make friends with Inu Yasha. Hojo took the hint and withdrew his hand, whilst Kagome was quick to change the subject.

Kagome: " Uh… the announcements are probably going to start soon, so how about we all find our seats at the tables"

The announcements were boring as expected. Four or five teachers stood up at podium, and yabbered on for about ten minutes each, thanking this person and that person. Then it was time for the meal to be served. Kagome, Inu Yasha, her three friends and their dates were all at the same table. The choice's for dinner were roast lamb and vegetables or Chicken schnitzel and vegetables (a/n: Yeah, I know, un Japanese meals, but does anyone really care?).

Unfortunately for Kagome, Inu Yasha abandoned his knife and fork, after finding them too difficult, preferring to eat with his hands instead. He, of coarse, had chosen the roast lamb. Most other people that night who had also chosen the lamb as well, didn't eat much of it, as it turns out that it hadn't been cooked very well, with most peoples lamb still red and bleeding. This just earned Inu Yasha more weird looks, as he ate not only his lamb with his hands and without complaint, but Yuka's, Ayumi's, and Ryuichi's, while Kagome sat next to him, choosing instead to look down at her chicken as though it was so interesting that she didn't notice the boy next to her, chewing at his various parts of bleeding lamb meat without the aid of cutlery.

As though her bit of chicken was so incredibly entertaining, that she didn't notice the strange and appalled looks Inu Yasha was receiving from her friends and other students.

After everyone had appeared to have finished dinner, yet another announcement was made. This time it was to inform the students that dancing would begin in 15 minutes.

In the meantime, Kagome, Inu Yasha, Ayumi, Yuka, Ryuichi and Erri moved out into the courtyard to get some fresh air. Kagome would have rathered to stay indoors however, after exiting the building and entering into the cold winter air. Honestly, who decided that it would be a good idea to hold the prom on a winter night, when all the girls would be in dresses?

Ayumi: " So, Inu Yasha, its great to finally meet you. Kagome has told us so much about you"

Erri: " So how long have you known Kagome for?"

Inu Yasha: " Over a year I think"

Erri: " …Any fights with your brother recently?"

Eeck, Kagome had forgotten shed told them about that

Inu Yasha: "…My brother?"

Yuka: " Yes, that's right, Kagome's been telling us about how every time you and your brother meet you always end up fighting each other"

Inu Yasha: " Well yeah, but I haven't ran into him in a while.

Yuka: " Have you ever fought with anyone else?"

Inu Yasha: " Yeah"

Kagome: " Guys, why are you asking him these things?"

Yuka and Erri pull Kagome aside to talk with her in private.

Yuka (whispering behind her hand once again): " Because we want to see if he is good enough for you"

Erri (also whispering behind her hand): "Right. We don't want you to be stuck with some deadbeat for the rest of your life"

Yuka nods her head in agreement.

Kagome: " Wait, why should you guys have a say in who I date anyway?"

Erri: "We're just looking out for you, that's all. You don't seem to have very good taste in men"

Kagome (starting to get a tad annoyed): " What's wrong with Inu Yasha?"

Yuka: " He's violent Kagome. You told us yourself in the past that he was violent, selfish, and that he gets extremely jealous"

Erri: " That, and he was two timing you"

Yuka; " Right"

Kagome: " Enough. You only just met him"

Erri: "But…"

Inu Yasha: " Kagome"

Kagome (turns around to face him): "Nani?"

Inu Yasha: " I'm just going to go to the toilet for a minute"

Kagome: " Do you know where it is?"

Inu Yasha: " I'll find it"

And with that, Inu Yasha walked back into the building.

"He didn't hear did he?" Kagome wondered.

Once Inu Yasha had found the toilets, he chose one of the five cubicles, and walked into it, locking the door behind him. He had learnt how to use these toilet things from Kagome's brother while he was staying at her house.

When he emerged from his cubical a minute or so later, Inu Yasha was pulled over by one of three boys gathered around in a group in front of the end sink. "What was your name again?" the boy asked. It was Kazui, the one who came with Kagome's friend, Erri.

Inu Yasha: " Inu Yasha"

Kazui: "Ah yes that's right. So you here with Higurashi?"

Inu Yasha: " Yeah"

Kazui: " Nice going"

Boy #2: "Yeah well done"

Kazui: " Man that Higurashi has got some body, and such an ass. Bet your hoping to have some fun tonight, hey Inu…"

* BAM *

Inu Yasha had had enough of listening to this pervert, who was now lying on the bathroom floor, holding his face in pain, in particular his nose.

His friends were crouched down on either side of him, with one of them letting out a loud " HOLY SHIT" when he saw the state of Kazui's face. After being punched in the face by Inu Yasha, even in his human form, Kazui was lucky he escaped with only what appeared to be a badly broken nose, and a few missing teeth. Oh sorry, my mistake, an awful lot of missing teeth.

Well, at least one thing was for certain, he wouldn't be eating solid foods for a while.

Inu Yasha stormed off into the courtyard, in search of Kagome. His intention at the time was to grab her by the arm, drag her back to his time, and keep her there with him, only letting her return to this time if she was escorted by him and never to go to school.

He didn't want her going back to school if there was a chance she would be hanging around boys like Kazui or even Hojo for that matter.

He wanted to protect her and part of that he felt involved keeping her away from these sorts of people, for her own good. He would never let anyone hurt her.

He searched all over the courtyard for her, but he couldn't see her, only the other students.

He heard her laugh from behind him, and quickly swung around.

She had moved to the large balcony with her friends from before, oblivious to what had happened between Inu Yasha and Kazui in the boys toilets.

Inu Yasha looked up at her, beneath the dark shade of a tree that stood a few metres in front of him. She was the happiest he'd seen her in a long time, laughing with her friends, including Hojo, about a joke of some sort that Inu Yasha couldn't hear. He thought back to how desperately she wanted to come here tonight. How she had talked him into coming with her, by using his jealousy against him, saying that if he didn't take her, she would come with Hojo as her date instead. She knew that would work, and it did.

But perhaps it would have been a better choice to let her go with Hojo.

Inu Yasha took a last look at Kagome, before turning around and heading back towards the gates of the Community Hall car park. He walked out of the grounds and started heading back in the direction of Kagome's home, the direction of The Bone Eaters well.
