InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Prom ❯ Chapter 3: Inu Yasha, where did you go? ( Chapter 3 )
A/N: Hey everyone I'm back!! Sorry it has taken me so long to update, but it's not my fault. It's my teachers; they just keep giving me more and more work. Why can't they just leave me alone? I bet you Americans and Canadians are having fun at the moment right? Your all on summer holidays aren't you?
WAHAHAHA, it's freezing over here. I think I mentioned somewhere in chap 1 that I am Australian didn't I? Well if I didn't, I'll tell you all now. I'm Australian, G'day mate!! You know, no one over here actually says " G'Day Mate". No one that I know anyway, and we don't say " Crikey" either, although, the crocodile hunter is an exception. Anyway, back to Melbourne's crappy weather.
It's the middle of winter over here, and I am stranded in a hole of a town called Kinglake, which doesn't actually have a lake. And there never was a lake either. King lake is miles away from everything, and we don't have public transport because we have such a tiny population. It's a 45-minute trip for me to get to school.
Our biggest attraction in Kinglake is a house made out of bottles.
That and three quarters of the place is bushland. I have lived here all my life, and I am patiently waiting for the day that I turn 18, because then I'll be old enough to have a drivers licence, and I can leave this town whenever I want.
That's another thing Americans are lucky to have, you can get a drivers licence at 16, cant you?
WAAAAHAA it's not fair. I'm 16. I would have a licence too if I lived there. WAHAHAHA…etc, etc, etc.
Okay, I think you get the idea.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything
To Graide/Darkfish: Sorry about the amount of Japanese I have used in this story. We don't have the English version of Inu Yasha in Australia, nor do we actually have the Japanese. I have to get all my episodes by mail order, and I have been following the show since really early 2001. I tend to throw in a few jap words from time to time because, that's just what I'm used to I guess, but if it bothers you, I can stop.
Here is my full apology to you: "Hontoni sumimasen. Watashi wa Yue-Chan to Sesshoumaru-Sama ga suki desu. E, watashi wa mayaku otsuka teimasu. Ki o tsukete ne. Ja-ne!!!"
Okay, Graide/Darkfish, did you get all of that? Great!!!
Now, on with the fic…
The Prom Chapter 3
By Yues Woman
"Who did this?"
" It was that guy that came with Higurashi"
" Eh?"
Kagome's eyes flung open at the conversation she overheard from somewhere behind her (a/n: Sorry bout the bad wording in that last sentence).
What were they talking about? Why were they talking about Inu Yasha?
Without a second thought, Kagome left her friends; worried that Inu Yasha had done something else to embarrass her, or maybe he had done something worse this time.
There was a small crowd of people gathered around Kazui, as his friends dragged him out of the toilets.
"What happened?" one girl was asking.
"That guy that came with Higurashi punched Kazui in the face"
"Why did he do that?"
" Because Kazui made a comment about Higurashi's butt"
" Hey, sh-shut up" Kazui managed to muffle.
" Don't try to talk Kazui, you'll make your face worse"
" Someone call for a teacher"
Kagome pushed her way through the crowd.
"Where did Inu Yasha go?" She asked one of the boys holding up Kazui.
Boy: " I'm not sure. He stormed out of the boys toilets after he hit Kazui"
" I think I saw him leave the hall just before" someone else added.
Kagome: " Thank you"
And with that, Kagome ran out after Inu Yasha, holding her dress up so that it wouldn't drag on the ground. Her friends were calling out to her, but she ignored them. She stopped in the courtyard, looking around for him. She looked up in all of the trees, through the gardens, and around the outside of the hall, to check that he wasn't just hiding around some corner. Nothing. He must have left to go back to the well.
She ran up through the car park. She was nearly at the gates when someone grabbed her right arm. It was Yuka.
Kagome: " Yuka, let go. I have to find Inu Yasha"
Yuka: " Your still going to go after him? But, you saw what he did to Kazui"
Kagome: " I don't care, Kazui shouldn't have been talking about me that way in the first place."
Yuka: " Kagome, you should let him go. There are much better men out there, especially for someone like you. That's why I came with Hojo tonight."
Kagome: " What do you mean?"
Yuka: " He couldn't come without a date right? That's why I came with him, so that, with the two of them here together, you would see for yourself that Hojo is better for you than that badass. And I was right, just look at what your boyfriend has already done."
Kagome: " Let me go Yuka, I'm going after Inu Yasha no matter what"
Yuka: " No Kagome, I can't let you. Just come back inside with me and make up with Hojo"
Kagome: " No Yuka"
Yuka: " Kagome, are you REALLY in love with that guy?"
Kagome: " YES ALRIGHT. I AM IN LOVE WITH INU YASHA. NOW LET ME GO"
Kagome spun around and pried herself out of Yuka's grasp, and, without looking back, she ran through the gates, and up the footpath in the direction of her home.
Yuka watched her, amazed at her determination to get back to that violent, selfish, jealous, two timing guy.
" Really, I knew that Yuka has a habit of telling people what to do with their lives, but coming to the prom with Hojo-kun as an attempt to set us up again? And she knew that I was coming with Inu Yasha" Kagome thought as she passed a line of shops. (a/n: This Yuka is beginning to remind me a hell of a lot of my Nan. * shivers * Scary. Can you believe my Nan told me to stop watching anime and take up ballroom dancing, even after I told that I have no interest in ballroom dancing? I don't get her. Anyway, I could tell you a thousand stories about how my Nan has spent her life telling others how to live, but I'm in the middle of a fanfic!!)
Kagome was trying to run her fastest, but the high heeled purple shoes she was wearing slowed her down. She considered taking them off and throwing them into the small bin she could see up ahead outside a café. When she looked down at the pavement she was currently passing, she could see remains of a glass bottle, the broken pieces looked sharp and possibly painful.
Maybe it was best to leave the shoes on then.
Dammit, where is he? She should have ran into him by now, shouldn't she? Maybe he wasn't walking. Maybe he was jumping the tops of buildings to get back to where the well was faster, like he had done in the past with Kagome on his back one time when she was running late for school. No hang on a minute, tonight he was human wasn't he? Well that rules that theory out then.
She considered yelling, " SIT", in the hopes she would hear him hit the ground somewhere near by. Then all she would have to do was follow in the direction she heard the loud "thud", and he would be there, face in the dirt, in a considerable amount of pain. Wait, but then that might ruin her father's tux.
No, she shouldn't do that.
A small droplet of water fell onto Kagome's head, followed by another, which hit her on the nose.
" Oh great, that's just what I need. I'm already running through Tokyo, on a freezing cold night, wearing a long and rather expensive dress, which is not only increasing the effects of the cold, due to its lack of sleeves, but also earning me some odd looks from almost everyone I pass. I can't balance right in these stupid shoes. My date has just ran off on me, after punching Kazui in the face. My make up is beginning to run. My hair is coming undone and now ITS RAINING. I'm just full of luck tonight"
Kagome was still searching in front of her for Inu Yasha. By now, she was crossing over a small bridge in the public park she usually passes through as a shortcut back to her home. She knew Inu Yasha would be coming the same way, since it's the only way he knows. She couldn't see anyone else, just the bare walking path, lit up by a few over hanging streetlights. Hang on, there was someone else just up ahead of her. It was a person, wearing nothing but black, or at least that's all she could see from the back. The person was walking at a casual pace, with their hands in their pockets.
Whoever it was also had their long black hair, tied in a low ponytail. Its gotta be him. It was. It was Inu Yasha.
"INU YASHA" Kagome called, attempting to speed up a bit, but without much effect.
He stopped and turned to face her, looking a bit surprised.
Inu Yasha:" Kagome?"
Kagome: " Inu Yasha"
Inu Yasha: " What are you doing here?"
Kagome: " I came after you"
Inu Yasha: " I guess you heard what happened then"
Inu Yasha winced slightly, expecting to receive a loud " SIT" from Kagome. That or perhaps a long lecture from her about how disappointed and angry she was with him for punching that pervert, followed by a loud "SIT".
But, to his surprise, neither came.
Kagome: " Yes, I heard what happened, and I saw the damage that you caused to Kazui's face. But…he shouldn't have said that about me"
Inu Yasha: " You know what he said?"
Kagome nodded.
Inu Yasha turned away from her.
Inu Yasha: " You should go back"
Kagome: " Why?"
Inu Yasha: " Because you've been waiting years to go to this prom thing"
Kagome: " But then where will you go?"
Inu Yasha turned to face her again.
Inu Yasha: " It's obvious isn't it? I'll go back through the well to where Miroku and the others are"
Kagome: " But I don't want to go back to the prom without you. Who am I going to dance with?"
Inu Yasha: " That's what your worried about?"
Kagome: " If you really want to know, I didn't coming running after you to drag you back to the prom with me. Besides, you probably wouldn't be aloud back in the door after punching Kazui"
Inu Yasha: " Then why did you come looking for me?"
Kagome: " Well, because I was worried of coarse"
Inu Yasha: " Go back Kagome"
Kagome: " No"
Inu Yasha: " Kagome, I'm telling you to go back. I can go back home on my own"
Kagome was taken aback. After ran she all throughout the city chasing after him, now he was ordering her to go back. Didn't he want her there?
Kagome: " Fi-Fine then, if you don't want me around, then I WILL go back. And I'll enjoy it TOO"
Kagome snapped around, turning her back on Inu Yasha, and began heading back towards the community hall. Inu Yasha began walking away too, but in the direction of the well. He had only walked a few metres on the now rain soaked path, when he heard a loud " Ouch" from Kagome somewhere behind him. He quickly turned back around and ran back to her. He found her lying in a heap on the ground, holding her left ankle in pain.
Inu Yasha: " Are you alright?"
Kagome: " I'm fine, it's just these stupid shoes. Why am I always falling over?"
(a/n: Really, has anyone else realised how often Kagome is falling over in the anime? I swear, that girl just has no balance)
Inu Yasha: " Can you stand back up?"
Kagome: " I think so"
Inu Yasha helped support her weight as Kagome attempted to lift herself back up.
"Ow" she repeated as she tried to apply weight onto her left foot, failing, and falling back down, half on the ground, half on Inu Yasha.
Inu Yasha: " You're not alright, you've hurt your ankle"
Kagome's response was a small whimper, as she took her ankle up in her hands once again.
Inu Yasha sighed, before getting out from underneath her, and kneeling down in front of her, offering her his back.
Inu Yasha: " Climb on. I'm going to have to have to carry you home"
Kagome, although a little surprised, obeyed and climbed on to Inu Yasha's back. When he was sure he had a good hold of her, he stood back up and began heading back towards her home.
The rain continued to fall as he carried her down an empty suburban street. Even in his human form, Kagome still smelt good to him. He felt the urge to put his nose down closer to her hands, which were currently wrapped around his neck, for a closer smell.
He was beginning to feel guilty now, for yelling at her earlier. He was glad she worried about him, although he'd be too proud to ever admit it.
She looked amazing tonight, Inu Yasha thought, realising he had hardly taken the time to acknowledge it. He was also sorry that she had to hear what that pervert from her school had said about her. If she had asked him what was said, he wouldn't have told her, for fear of hurting her.
He would have thought it would hurt her tremendously to learn that someone had thought about that way. Of coarse, Inu Yasha wasn't completely innocent here either, having in the past realised for himself that Kagome was well shaped. He wanted her, it was true, but due to her age and the fact that he wasn't 100% sure how she felt about him, he restrained himself.
She had trusted him and cared for him on countless occasions, and even after he had hurt her with events involving Kikyo, she still came back to him. She seemed to understand that it is a very complex situation Inu Yasha is in.
He wasn't sure what he would do without her, now that she become such an important part in his life.
Kagome began slipping down slightly off Inu Yasha's back. She wriggled her way back up again, her thigh moving up against Inu Yasha's back, her legs either side of him.
She had no idea the effect this had on and Inu Yasha, and for a moment he forgot who he was, thinking only about Kagome. He gave in to temptation, leaning his head forward enough to reach Kagome's hand with his lips.
Kagome's eyes shot open with surprise, as she felt Inu Yasha's cold lips kiss the back of her right hand.
" You look beautiful tonight," he whispered to her.
Kagome smiled, tightening the hold she had around Inu Yasha.
" So do you" she whispered back in his ear, giving him a light kiss back on the lower part of his neck.

a/n: Aha, how freaking kawaii was that? Opps, sorry Graide/Darkfish, I meant " How freaking CUTE was that!!!"
Okay, I promise to have the lemon up soon. It's a long weekend for me this week, so I'm hoping to get a lot of work done on this fic.
Until next time, see ya!
