Chapter 2: Hidden Feelings
Kagome blushed. “Yeah…” She replied quietly. Kura froze, reading Kagome's expression. “There's someone else!” She gasped. “Yeah…” Kagome said in a small voice. “Who?” Kura demanded. Very quietly, so that no one else could hear, Kagome whispered; “Inuyasha.” Kura leapt up. “The dog-looking one in red?” She snarled. “Yeah…” Was all that Kagome could reply.
Kura grabbed Kagome's wrist, and heaved her up. Then she marched over, grabbed Inuyasha, and dragged them off into the woods. Sango, Miroku and Shippo looked at each other. “Should we go after them?” Sango finally said. “No…let them be for now. It looks like we have us a love triangle.” Miroku said with a glint in his eye. “But just to be safe, go spy on them, Shippo.”
Back with our other three, Kura marched them through the forest until they reached a clearing. Reaching one, she wheeled around so that they were all facing one another. “Ok, time to sort this out.” Kura declared. “A long time ago, Kagome and I were in love, and we exchanged promise rings. These rings are a soul binding promise that cannot be broken without the consent of both parties. And Kagome's promise was to mate and/or marry me.”
Kura glared at Inuyasha. “But, now it seems that she wants to break that promise, is that correct, Kagome?” “No!” Kagome replied. “I love you, I still really, really do. But…I...I. loveInuyashaaswell.” She finished quickly. Kura smirked. Poor Inuyasha looked hopeful. He had heard what she said. Ignoring the newcomer (Kura) he stepped towards Kagome.
“Kagome…did you really mean that?” Inuyasha asked in a soft, tender voice he had never used before. Kagome looked at the ground. Inuyasha gently grabbed her chin and lifted her head to meet his eyes. “Did you mean it?” He asked again. Kagome looked at him, tears filling her eyes. “Yes,” She whispered. “I love you, Inuyasha. But… I also love Kura. Isn't there a way to work this out?” She asked, sobbing.
Inuyasha panicked. He hated it when Kagome cried. Inuyasha looked over at the young woman leaning against a tree, and then back at Kagome, who was silently crying in his arms. “Kagome…” He said softly, again tilting her head up. “I love you, but if it would make you happy I'll let you go with your friend.” Kagome looked horrified. “No I could never leave you for her… but I could never leave her for you, either.”
Kagome again began to cry. “Isn't there another way?” Meanwhile, Shippo was hiding behind the tree Kura was leaning on, watching the whole scene play out. Not being able to take it anymore, he decided to take action. “There is a way!” He shouted, jumping out from behind the tree. “If Kagome likes both of you, share her! Even I could think of that!”
The other three stared, then blinked. Slowly, Kura began to smile. “You know,” she said with just a hint of evil in her grin, “That could be fun. Why don't we share Kagome? Just think of it, Inuyasha. Two girls to play with all day long. It would make me happy; I would get to be with Kagome and you're pretty good looking. And more importantly, It would make Kagome happy, which is what we both want.”
Inuyasha blushed, feeling a familiar tug in his loins at the thought. Then he smiled a rather demonic smile. “You're right. If it would make Kagome happy, let's all be together.” Then Kagome piped up. “But what about you, Inuyasha? What about your happiness?” Kura grinned; Inuyasha turned a darker shade of red.
Kura grinned. “Look down, dear Kagome. I think Inuyasha is perfectly happy at the thought.” Kagome did so, and then accomplished an admiral impression of a ripe tomato. “U-umm…” She stuttered. Inuyasha and Kura began to laugh. “Weren't expecting that now, were you, dear Kagome?” Kura teased.
“Expect what? Inuyasha's pants just bunched up, is all. He smells different though. Kind of like Miroku when he sees a pretty girl.” The young fox demon questioned. The others jumped, startled. They had forgotten that Shippo was there.
“Nothing, brat.” Inuyasha huffed, embarrassed. Kagome agreed. “You're too young to know, Shippo-chan.” She said. Kura just stood there, doubled over, laughing her head off. Kagome noticed, and playfully chided her. “Shut up, Kura.”
This just caused Kura to laugh harder. Inuyasha and Shippo began to stare. “She is easily amused.” Kagome explained. “It would appear so.” Inuyasha and Shippo said in unison. Shippo became restless. “Come on, let's go back to the others. They are probably missing us.” The others agreed, and they trudged back to camp, Kura and Inuyasha each holding one of Kagome's hands.
