Chapter 8

On a clear sunny day Kagome was requested to go to the old mentor Kaede and speak to her soon so after breakfast Kagome lightly skipped to the old woman's hut.

“I'm here Kaede what is it that you would like for me to do?” Kagome chirped

“How did you know that I would like for you to do something for me?” Kaede questioned.

“Well whenever I'm called over it is something you would like for me to retrieve that is too hard for the others girls to get and since there is only me and Sango left I am probably the more obvious choice because I know more of the miko arts.” Kagome replied unruffled.

“Very observant young lady but how did you know I asked you to come just to bring me something I could've asked you to come just chat?” Kaede asked again.

“Well for one thing you wouldn't have called me first thing in the morning most likely you would've have called me in the afternoon in time for supper another is that I am not the most interesting talking person to my mentor.” Kagome came back with.

Kaede beamed proudly her apprentice is smart beautiful and powerful a deadly yet perfect combination.

“Yes you are right child I am asking you for a favor since my bones are not getting younger I need a replacement to go and pick up some of the special ginseng that I ordered from the neighboring village.” Kaede responded.

“Okay no problem I'll be back before nightfall.” Kagome piped.

Kagome bowed to Kaede and excused herself to prepare for the journey and maybe pick up a few things for Sango and herself.

When she was ready she set off wearing a traditional miko suit that consisted of a jade yukata and a white undershirt. On her feet she wore a pair of crimson zori sandals.

Kagome enjoyed her walk to the next village and watched the activity around her with piqued interest. Using her miko senses she could feel the wind playing a song for her and the small animals frolicking in the tall grass that bordered the rough road. Sooner than she would have liked she arrived at the destined village.

She quickly found her way to the herbal store and asked for the order she was told to wait for it to be mixed but Kagome knew that Kaede wanted the raw ginseng for reasons unknown so she inquired if there is any fresh available. Kagome was told to wait and let the store owner pick some during a break. Kagome wasn't in a hurry so she agreed knowing that with the extra time she could get a gift for Sango and herself.

Looking around before long Kagome found what she was looking for. It was a stunning mulberry kimono, a perfect complement to Sango's magenta eyeliner. Kagome asked the price of the kimono and it turned out that she had just enough but if she bought it then she wouldn't have enough to buy something for herself.

But Kagome bought it anyway besides; she argued with the selfish part of herself that Sango might have found a husband in the lecher called Miroku. After all even after he found out that Sango lived in a demon slayer village and was trained in the arts of demon slaying he didn't run away but he did touch Sango's butt which in all things considered is pretty good.

The salesperson wrapped up the present assuring Kagome that her friend would totally love the gift. When Kagome checked the time (By looking at the sky no invention stuff) she found that she still had a while to go before it was time to pick up the ginseng so she browsed at the different vendors finding many things that intrigued her like a spinning top called a top that was whirled on a string a flicked so it spins for a long time.

Kagome thought it was soo kawaii but moved on and when it got late spent the last little bit on some gyudon at a fast food vendor.

Soon it was time to go back and when she reached the herbal store she received the ginseng that Kaede ordered after saying goodbye Kagome decided that if she traveled during the night she would still reach home before dawn and not worry Sango and Kaede too much.

With the bright prospect of going to a warm bed and sleeping the day away Kagome set off and the moon became her lantern.

It seemed different traveling the path during the day and the night. Although Kagome isn't one to be spooked she felt a little intimidated and decided that walking in the dark in the middle of the night with who knows what out there isn't a good idea so she found a nice covering and went to bed under the stars.

Inuyasha was also passing by this quaint village when a strange scent hit him like a rock. It seemed familiar but mysterious and distant at the same time. Now the inuyoukai clans are dog demons and scent is their most important strength and liability so forgetting a scent is a very critical problem. So Inuyasha stayed close to the scent waiting for the owner to get out of the crowd and into a secluded location so Inuyasha could look at her (he can still tell the gender).

So following the scent wasn't really hard but the crowd made a lot of scents and not all of them were comforting (If you get my drift). Inuyasha had to cover his nose with his scarlet haori but the girl stopped at many of the merchants that thronged the street and Inuyasha had to keep in the shadows but still keep close with the scent.

Inuyasha noticed that the scent also carried a strong aura and the wearer was not to be messed with. When the sky began to bleed colors the girl left the market to a store she came out shortly carrying a bag that had the strong scent of ginseng so Inuyasha eliminated the possibilities of this girl to a either a cook or miko.

The girl then walked out of the village heading west toward another village. The name tugged at Inuyasha's memory as if he had been there before but Inuyasha almost never went in public.

Inuyasha followed the girl still contemplating what he was trying to remember.' Damn wench' He thought `I haven't even met her and she is already throwing me tricks'.

`Wait!' He exclaimed. `She is a miko maybe she is using her powers on me.'

Unable to take it anymore he rushed ahead and jumped in front of the girl.

“Ahhhhhh!” Kagome shrieked

“Owwww wench don't yell so loud!” Inuyasha yelped pressing his ears as close to his skull as he could get.

“Hey I remember you.” Kagome said.

“Really wench who am I then.” Inuyasha tested.

“You're the hanyou that is called Inuyasha and you saved me when I fainted, I never got to thank you so here you go thanks. Kagome said simply.

`She looks amazingly like Kikyo' Inuyasha though to himself.

This is the end not of the story silly the chapter. I still need reviews you know I can tell how many people read this and I'm amazed that out of more than 300 hundred people there is NOT ONE REVIEW. <_> anyway thanks for reading.
