AN: I think this will be my 7th Inu-yasha fic and that I'm very proud to say that. Most of my Inu-yasha fics are about Sesshoumaru and Rin because I could work their relationship, but this how ever is an Inu-yasha and Kagome fic. I don't write much about them even if they are my favorite couple. Now the story goes like this Kagome is a girl that come from a very wealthy and powerful family of priest and priestess, she was to marry her childhood friend Hojou but when an unexpected kidnapping takes Kagome to a different she will have to learn more then chants and spells to stay alive and not to mention to control her emotions for the young leader of the group.

Free to live...Chapter 1

I think everyone will agree with me that the land that you call home will always be number one in your heart no matter how bad that land maybe, and why not it is after all the home that you have come to know and love, but what if you had two home but only one heart? What then, would you choose to let yourself decay with the land unable to pick either?

The year is 2109 the technologies have improved beyond anything man as ever hoped to see, The shit of power moving once again into the hands of Priests and Monks. The world had changed much since then, the people and time along with culture, which die with the people who followed it. It was as if the planet got older yet the time just sort of rotated back to the 2nd hand. There were no cars; there were nothing that could possibly harm the earth at all. It was the Millennium years as most put it where humans and other beings lived with each other in peach, though some didn't agree with the arrangements, most were satisfied. It was the time where magic and mysticism existed, where Priests and Monks once again gained power and Kings and Lord came to be once again. The main reason for the Priests and Monks to gain power was to save the earth from it's own age. The ever so perfect planet was slowly turning into an unsafe planet, there was dry and moist, which you choose was up to you. There was a family of Priests that had incredible will power that was produced to magic that had the power necessary to help mother nature to nourish her children back, they had a daughter born said to have even greater will power, her prayers alone could end this war between nature and man. Her sweet will to live was all that was needed to make the planet they loved the same as it was back so long ago. Yes man had technology but in the end man learned nothing.

"I can't believe that you're making me do this," said a young girl with brown hair and dark brown eyes. "Will you be quite we can't have him hear us" said the girl beside her. "Kagome!" she said. The girl with the deep gray blue eyes and long ebony hair turned to her. "Rika will you shut up!" she hissed. "Kagome what will Hojou-sama think of us?" asked Rika. "What do you mean?" asked Kagome. "He will never trust us! Ever again!" panicked Rika. Kagome sighed and walked away from the window that she and her guilty friend was snooping through. "You have such a guilty conscious," said Kagome. "Hey you're the daughter of the High Priest how can you say that?" asked Rika. Kagome sighed as she walked towards the pond that was part of the large shrine, which she called home. "Life here seem so confided" said Kagome. "I think you're very lucky, I say you get your head out of the clouds and into the chants and spells" said Rika. "Rika I knew those stupid chants since I could walk, I don't get what's so hard about them just have to say them write," said Kagome. Rika chuckled. "Would you listen to yourself Kagome? I mean here you are complaining that you are confide yet it take you nothing to be what those who use to learn everything you know" said Rika. "I can't see why would want to, this life nothing to be proud of" said Kagome.

"I don't think you understand yet Kagome, but one of these days you will and then it may be too late," said Rika. Kagome laid down on the border of the pound staring up at the midnight blue sky with the scattered stars. "Do you see that star there Rika, that star is lonely for it has no one who really understand it's pain, but it's still the brightest star out of all of them, it shine to make the others happy, and proud" said Kagome tracing the sky with her finger. "Oh Kagome" said Rika. "Don't feel bad for me Rika, I will forever be confide to serve her" said Kagome. "You know that's not true," said Rika. "I know what is true in my heart, I love this land so I shall sacrifice myself for it" she said. "If I were you I would consider myself lucky to be able to marry such a wonderful man and serve the land which I love, but I don't have powers that come close to yours, I am part of a band, my prayer is only strong when I have others with me, but you...you can do it alone" said Rika. "If you truly believe that then I feel sorry that I was the one given the power and not you" said Kagome standing slowly. "Kagome...I didn't mean it that way" said Rika. She smiled and shook her head. "No Rika you just said what everyone else says" said Kagome walking towards her escape. Rika stood watching her friend walk up the steps to the temple where she resided, the night breeze blowing her miko outfit. *I wish you find happiness* she thought.

It was the same each and every day, she woke and practiced her chants, then she did a cleansing spell on herself, she would then mediate, after that she would have some time to eat breakfast and meet with her father, after that she had to head to the meeting with the high console. She would then teach the younger students simple magic tricks and then it would be lunchtime. It was after lunch that she was some what free to do what she wanted, but lately Hojou her childhood friends has to escort her every where she went, she was aware of the marriage arrangements but she really had no say in it, just to follow through. It was her life to serve and follow her orders. Suddenly she felt what the servants felt, but then again she was never the one to rely on them anyhow. Her life was simple enough, but it was exciting, she craved something more then just to sit every single day in front of a large tree praying away hoping that maybe it will help the earth be safe like it use to be. She sighed as she lay on her bed looking out her window, the sky seemed so vest that she felt as if she was just wasting her life away for something that probably had no affect.

The soft knock on the door snapped her out of her thoughts. "Come in" she said in a whisper. "Sister Kagome?" asked a small voice. "Likie is that you?" she asked. A small form became visible in the darkness of her room. The child came forth, her brides done to the side, her pink kimono matching the ribbon on her blonde hair. "What's wrong Likie?" asked Kagome. The child claimed onto the bed and placed her head on Kagome's lap. "Sister Kagome...am I going to die?" she asked in a small whisper. "What? Who told you that?" asked Kagome. "No one I...I had a vision sister Kagome...I'm going to die," whispered Likie. Kagome took the child's face in to her hands, and smiled. "Do you want to die?" asked Kagome. "No I want to be here near you and mother and father," said Likie. "Then not even vision can take you away," said Kagome. "Really?" asked Likie. Kagome chuckled. Her held her hands together and chanted something and a ball of blue appeared before it turned into a butterfly. "Hold out your hand Likie" whispered Kagome. The little girl did as told. "This shall be my gift to you. Always hold this close to you when you need someone to be by your side" she said. "Will it last that long?" asked Likie. "Yes it will, if you want it to. Right now it's small but if you take care of it, it'll grow just as you will," she said as tears started down her face.

"Ok sister Kagome, I will keep it right near my chest and give it all the love that I can" said the girl giggling and running out of the room. She threw herself on the pillow and started to let her tears come. Yes it will grow, but it will also consume you nonetheless. Kagome stood, she ran towards her father's study. She softly knocked on the door and waited for an answer. "Come in Kagome" she heard. Kagome stepped in. "Father...Likie" started. "Yes I have heard," said the man with the black hair sitting with his eyes closed. "Father, there has to be something wrong with her vision" whispered Kagome. "No there is nothing wrong with it, she will die with in a month" he said. "Father we-" before she could finish he raised a hand to stop her. "Kagome I have decided to send you and Hojou to your cousin's place there you will take some time off and forget all about this place, but I do expect that you will not complain or go against what the high console thinks best" said her father taking a sip of his tea. "Father..." said Kagome. "I know you're worried about Likie but you mustn't let yourself feel any sort of weakness," he stated. Kagome's fisted her hands, her nails digging deep with in her hand. "How could you say that father? I'm not to worry for her? She will die in a month and you tell me not to worry!?" exclaimed Kagome.

"Kagome what I do, I do for your best" he started. "Father you know what I will go on that vacation because I'm tired of you all telling me that I shouldn't care that I shouldn't worry about things such as freedom, well let me just say that I'm done being some fairy tale I'm not the one who was the chosen one, I am normal I have no power" she said standing and walking towards the door. "Kagome" he said. "I'll decide what's best for me father" said Kagome before she stepped out. She had tears falling down her face, she was angry, sad, lonely, and she was trapped. She walked into her room and just dropped on the bed. She will never return from that vacation the same, which she promised herself.

Morning came all to soon for Kagome as the sun shone into her room. She opened her eyes and looked out her window to the blue sky. Once again it was mocking her. The soft knock on her door told her it was time that she gets up. "Just leave me be" she whispered. The door opened and in walked her mother. "Mother!" she said with a small smile. "Kagome" she said with her eyes down casted. Kagome's smile faded. "I see so you have turned on me too mother?" asked Kagome. "Oh Kagome dear you know that's not true" whispered her mother. "Mother don't explain to me the concept of being a door wife, for I have seen enough, I will not marry Hojou and I will not become the priestess of this damned temple. I don't want such a life" said Kagome. "Your so young Kagome you still much time to decide what you want to do" said her mother. "I will start packing I see that we will live in the afternoon, I don't need Hojou's company in this" said Kagome. "Kagome..." started her mother. "Mother I don't want to be you! I will not give into this like you did, I'm different, and I'm not like you! I can't sit and wait for my prince to take me away because I don't know where he is waiting for me" said Kagome.

"Do you really believe that Kagome?" asked her mother. Kagome looked at her mother. "Mother I don't know what I think any more, I only get to see you once every 5 damn years what do I know about you?" asked Kagome. "Very well my dear" said her mother as she walked out. Kagome threw her clothing into her suite case. She found that the tears had consumed her once more. "I'm such a fool" she whispered. By noon she was ready she had done her regular routine for the last time she told herself, and she wished everyone good-bye as if it was her last. She got on the carriage that was going to take her where she needed to be. *This is where my life will be free of it all* she thought as she watched the temple disappear and a rode appear.

She stepped out of the carriage and in front of a large palace. "Are you sure this is where I am too be?" asked Kagome. "Yes Lady Kagome you are to be here" said the coach. "Very well thank you" said Kagome as she stepped out. "Kagome!" said a young girl about the age of 15 with blue hair and green eyes. "Sana" said Kagome with a smile as she embraced the young girl. "I'm so happy that you came to see us" said Sana. Kagome nodded. "I bet that they worked you till they couldn't bare your ranting" said Sana. Kagome chuckled. "Your right I guess you went through the same things" said Kagome. "No not like you, your father is more strict and plush you're the chosen one" said Sana. "Sana don't I get enough from the others just be my friend" said Kagome. Sana nodded as she pulled Kagome inside. "Your going to love it here, since it's still early come on let's go to the market place" said Sana. Kagome smiled and nodded. "Sure"

They followed by a fleet of guards followed them to the market place where all sort of things were going on. "This place is so much different from home, you would never see this these dry lands back at home. "Kagome your near the desert, you should see all the beautiful horses" said Sana pulling Kagome towards the stables with a good ten feet difference in between their bodies. "Sana!" said Kagome as she collided with a body. She opened her eyes and the first thing she saw was a pair of stunning golden eyes, they were watching her too. "I'm sorry" she said. It was a man she couldn't see his face due to the fact he was all covered up, he stood and pulled her up with him. "I'm really sorry about that" she said. "Kagome!" said Sana as she pulled her along once more, She looked back at where he stood watching her, and then he was out of sight.

"Your highness are you all right?" asked a solider rushing towards him. "I'm fine, for gods sake she was just a girl" he said. "yes my lord" said the solider. He looked back towards where he collided with the girl, something about her. He sensed something but he couldn't put this finger on it. *Oh well* he thought, as he continued on his way. "We shall go to the stables we will need some good horses for tonight's trip" He said. "Yes my lord" they said before following him.

"Hey Sana do people here always dress so their face is covered?" asked Kagome. "Yes so the heat doesn't burn their skin, I forgot to put one on and I forgot to give you one" said Sana. Kagome sweat dropped. "Come look at these beautiful horses" she said as she pulled Kagome inside the stables, and just like she had said the horses where beautiful unlike anything she had ever seen. "They are wonderful" stated Kagome. "Why don't you try one?" asked Sana. Kagome nodded as she claimed a beautiful white one. "It's so gentle" said Kagome. "Yup that one is called Shiroi (white) for it's brilliant color" said Sana. "Oh" said Kagome as she walked around the space provided. Kagome smiled she liked this, she liked not having to pray in the evening and not worrying about things, but the guilt got to her too, here she was enjoying herself and Likie was going to die in a month. So deep in her though she didn't hear the gun shot fired, and the panic of the beast, but when the horse started to neigh and jerk around, Kagome felt herself fall of the horse and prepare for the fall, but it never came instead she felt herself wrapped up in someone's arms.

"Oh Sama-sama forgive me" she whispered. She opened her eyes and saw those golden eyes again. They were looking down at her intently. She saw that she was clutching at his robes. "I'm sorry" she whispered. He placed her down on the ground. "Ohmygod! Kagome I'm so sorry about that I didn't think that Shirioi would panic like that" said Sana. "What happened?" asked Kagome. "Someone fired a gun" said Sana. "Oh" said Kagome turning back to the man who was taming the horse. Something with in her was jumping it was alive with an emotion. "Kagome are you listening to me?" asked Sana. "Huh?" asked Kagome. "Stop dazing off, you have plenty of time for that, maybe you should get you home you look tired" said Sana. Kagome nodded as she took her last glance of the man that was taming the horse, he looked at her back, a small smile hidden behind the cloth covering his face.

The palace was live with festivities it was a celebration thrown by her uncle who obviously lived life so much differently then her father and her clan. It was her third night staying there, but all she found herself think of was those golden eyes, she wished she had seen his whole face but since that wasn't possible, she was pretty content and frustrated with the eyes. She stood on the balcony and sighed. "Finally freedom from one and into anther, just wonderful" she mumbled. "Kagome don't you want to dance?" asked Sana. "Actually Sana I will be retiring is that all right?" asked Kagome. Sana nodded. "Are you feeling ok?" asked Sana. "I feel restless but other then that I'm fine, I'll just sleep it off" said Kagome. She had a servant follow her, she found the servant girl to be very beautiful but she didn't say anything at all. She changed out of her gown to a simple nightgown that would keep her body warm during the night. "My lady please drink this it should help you sleep well" said the same servant girl. Kagome nodded as she took the mix. "It's completely strong sleeping herb" she said. The servant seemed surprised for a second before she nodded. "I thought I lady might want to sleep dreamlessly" said the servant. Kagome thought about the dreams she has been having since she meet that man with the golden eyes and decided that it wasn't a bad idea. "very well thank you" she said. The servant nodded and bowed.

She felt her head just shut down as she fell on to the bed. "Did you do the job right?" asked someone from the balcony at where the servant stood. "Yes I did it right!" she hissed. "Calm down Sango I didn't mean anything bad" said the man. "Naoya shut up!" she said. "The lord is here" he said. She nodded. "My lord" said Naoya bowing down. "Sango" said the man. "About time you showed up!" said Sango. "Damn wrench give me minute would you" he said. He walked in and almost stopped on his tracks when he noticed the girl on the bed. "Can't be" he said. "Can't be what?" asked Sango. "Nothing" he said picking up the girl on the bed. "Sango take a blanket it will be cold on our way back" He said. "yes of course" said Sango grabbing the sheets. He looked at the girl she was the same one he met at the market place.
