The sun was setting oh so slowly, the golden rays dancing enticingly on the surface of the rice fields below. She sat contently were he'd left her, playing with a lilly and humming to herself. She wasn't worried about being left alone. She knew he'd always come back for her.
Jaken was a ways off, pacing and mumbling as was his custom. She was hard pressed to understand why he worried so. She cast a glance at him. For some reason she found him amusing, though only to a point. After awhile, he just became annoying.
Shrugging, she turned back to the sunset, admiring the way the light danced on the flower petals. Pausing in her singing, she noticed how suddenly devoid of sound the world was. At first she couldn't put her finger on what was missing, that is until the imp spoke.
Wondering what had caused him to fall silent in the first place, she looked curiously over her shoulder. He'd moved away from Auh and Uhn, and was staring anxiously towards the forest. She turned further to see what he was looking at. Smiling when she saw Sesshomaru walking out from between the trees, she waved the flower in greeting before turning back to what she'd been doing.
She listened as the imp spoke, all high pitched and unintelligable to her ears. She knew what was going to happen next. After all, it happened all the time.
She couldn't help but smirk as she heard the imp shriek. It was strange music to her ears, a sign that all was well.
She waited patiently as his footsteps grew closer, until finnaly stopping as he came to stand next to her. Looking up at him, she caught his gaze and smiled toothly. He in turn gave her the slightest of smiles before turning back to the horizon to watch the sun set. After a moment of looking silently up at him, she did the same.
They stayed there like that, watching the sun set together, just as they had so many times before. It was, after all, their tradition.
