The Real Reason

‘It’s not right’ thought Kagome. ‘Inuyasha always goes after Kikyo. Why can’t it ever be me? Why can’t he love me?’
Flashback
It was late at night three days ago. Kagome woke up, looked around the campsite and saw that Inuyasha was nowhere to be found. It was then that she saw she noticed the soul collectors. ‘Not again,’ she thought. She followed the soul collectors just to find Inuyasha and Kikyo together again. She gasped and ran off to the well and jumped down and to her surprise Inuyasha did not try to stop her.
Present time
Inuyahsa’s POV
“I hate to hurt Kagome this way but I don’t know what else to do,“ he said to himself. “Her scent will drive me crazy if she is here at this time of the month. It kills me to do this, but I do not deserve a woman as wonderful as her. I just hope she never figures out that it is always during a certain time of the month that I go to see Kikyo.” “I just hope she never figures it out.” He was so deep in thought he did not here Kagome come up behind him.
“Figures what out!” yelled Kagome. “Figures out that you are just using me as a shard detector, as a replacement for Kikyo!”
‘Oh shit, she’s back and what’s worse is that her time is not over yet. Shit, shit, shit, what should I do?’ “Hi Kagome.”
“Hi nothing. Tell me what’s going on right now,” she said walking over to Inuyasha.
‘Oh shit she’s even closer now. She smells so good I don’t know If I can keep my hands to myself right now.’ “Feh, it’s nothing,” Inuyasha said, jumping into the tree.
“Inuyasha, SIT!!! You are going to tell me or I will keep SIT-ting you until you do!” Kagome yelled sitting on top of his chest.
“All Right!” Inuyasha yelled, “I’ll tell you!” “You want to know why I go seee Kikyo. You want to know why it’s always at a certain time!” Kagome gasped, she hadn’t even realized that. “You want to know why! It’s so that you go home for a while.”
“You want me to go home,” Kagome sniffed, trying to hide back tears. “But why?”
“Now don’t start crying until you let me explain,” Inuyasha said, then he took a deep breath and thought for a minute. ‘How do I tell her.’
“Well, I’m waiting.”
“Well you see, as a female, umm, you have certain times when you, umm, smell different. You see, umm right now, umm, you are in heat and you smell great.” He said the last part too softly for Kagome to hear.
“What?”
“I said you are in heat and you smell great!” he yelled. “If you stay here, I don’t know what I would do to you. That’s why I always go see Kikyo at this time of the month. I know you’ll go running off to that well of yours and stay away for a few days. Enough for the smell to go away so I won’t want you soooo bad!”
“What?” whispered Kagome so softly he almost did not hear her. She looked down for a minute. Inuyasha took her silence the wrong way.
‘I knew it,’ he thought. ‘I knew she would be repulsed.’ He turned his head away. Kagome just looked up as he turned his head.
“Please don’t look away,” she said.
“Why not,” he said. “I knew you would be repulsed by the idea”
“I am not repulsed,“ Kagome said happily. “Inuyasha, I never knew you felt like this.”
“Well I do.” Kagome leaned over and kissed him happily.
“I love you Inuyasha!”
“I love you too,” he said quetly.
Well, what did you think. It is my first fanfic, though I read them often. Should I make it more than a one-shot or just leave it like this. REVIEW!!
