Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha or the others. I don't own the song either, and that song is.... "Growing on Me"
A/N: I hope everyone enjoyed my last story, I am slowly trying to make tham longer. You don't realize how many times on that last chapter I had to argue with myself over stopping. I did it for ya'll! .... Or did I? DUN DUN DUNNN! ;D
The Morning
Inuyasha was, without a doubt, throughly shocked. He had nothing to say. So once again, he did the only thing he could think of doing, he nodded.-----"Ahh, I love baths. They're so relaxing and they just sooth all the muscles," She smiled as she dunked her head, reading herself for a good washing.
______________
Kagome pulled herself from her steaming little heaven only to be hit with a blast of cold air. She shivered and momentarily debated on just plopping back down into it's warm depths.
"No, I gotta get out... I don't want him comming in after me." She decided aloud.
She grabbed a towl and dashed down the hall and into her bedroom. She looked around cautiously but found nothing out of the ordinary.
Dressing quickly, Kagome stayed alert the whol time swearing to herself that if he walked in he was really going to get it. "Oh," she rembered. "I forgot, I was suppose to sit Inuyasha a hundred feet under. I'll guess I'll have to do it tomorrow because I really don't want a hole in my floor."
She sat down on the bed slowly and grabbed her bookbag. Books, books, and more books. How much homework did I have? Actually, how much did I FINISH?
She flipped through all of her papers and found, much to her relief, that she only had one unfinished paper. Math. Of course. Sighing she made her way over to her desk that was fit into the wall beside the window and droppd herself into the chair with another sigh.
As she worked she hummed. Soon the hum turned into a song and she couldn't help but sing the lyrics out loud.
"I can't get rid of you
I don't know what to do
I don't even know who is growing on who,
'Cos everywhere I go you're there
I Can't get you out of my hair
I Can't pretend that I don't care - it's not fair
I'm Being punished for all my offences
I wanna touch you but I'm afraid of the consequences-"
She stopped the instant she felt his breath on her neck and his voice in her ear. "I wanna touch you too." She could almost feel the smirk in his words.
Despite her will to stay calm and cool, she jumped. "What the hell? You can't just sneak up on people!"
He smiled and pulled her into his arms, knocking over the chair in his haste. "Ah, but if you hadn't been singing I wouldn't have come up here and then you wouldn't be where you are right now."
It wasn't her fault! She could sing whenever she wanted to, it WAS her house wasn't it? Her voice was flat as she forced herself not to let her anger show. "I'm tired, I'm going to go to bed."
As she moved to leave his arms she found that she couldn't move more than an inch! She frowned and tried to push against his chest. Letting out a growl in her frustration she forgot all about keeping her cool. "Let me go!"
He smiled and walked over to the bed himself. "Fine." Then he dropped her.
It actually WAS a long drop. Just how tall was he? 6 foot? 6 and a half? Kami!
She rolled over then paused. Looking over her shoulder she asked, "Were are you going to sleep?"
His grin grew, "Why, right next to my mate." It only took her a second and a half to understand the meaning of his words, but of course, by then it was to late. He had already, some how, pushed her closer to the wall, slipped under the cover, and spooned himself against Kagome's back.
She inhaled sharply when his hand snaked over her waist and snuck under her shirt. His cold, long fingers splayed themselves across her belly. He stuck his nose in the crook of her neck and allowed her alluring scent to wash over him.
She had attempted without sucess to remove herself from his grasp, but he refused to let go, so instead she just gave in. Sitting there for a few moment Kagome decided that now was a perfect time to ask about school.
She took a deep breath and exhaled quietly. "Hey, Inuyasha?"
For a moment she got no answer and she had almost believed he had gone to sleep, but he finally grunted, giving her some of his attention.
"Do you think I could go to school? Please? You can come to, you, well I think you are, still within the required age limit to go. And even if your not, they still have to allow you to go because of the, well the... Ugh, you know, umm the mark..."
His hot breath glided across the skin on her neck and she had to tear her attention away from the action."Tell me, why in all the hells would I do that? Let you go to a place that as your mom said, has boys that can't seem to stop asking you out? Even IF I did go, what would I get out of it? Or better yet, what would you give me in return?"
She hadn't expected having to barter. She twisted in his arms and hesitantly placed her hand on his chest, looking up at him from under her eye lashes. She absently drew small circles in his shirt while she spoke quietly, willing with all her might that he would say yes. "I don't know, what do you want?"
He smirked at her and couldn't supress the shivers running through his body because of her light touch. He nuzzled her neck and payed no mind to the fact that flinched. "Keh, I want to finish what I started."
She pulled away. What did he take her for? "Nope, sorry, try again. How about something like.. A dinner?" His chuckle vibrated through his chest.
"I think I like my idea much better." She turned in his arms again and pushed herself as far away from him as she could go and crossed her arms like a sulking child. He sighed and tried to pull her back but she shook her head and moved again.
If he had wanted to, he could've pinned her to the bed and forced her to look at him, but that wouldn't win him any points. He would have to... beg. Ugh, just the sound of the 'dog' word made him want to growl. He was a Dog Demon, not a Dog. Their was a difference.
She had made up her mind, when morning came, she was going to sit him and make a run for it. There was no way she was going to drop out of school just because some hanyou wanted her to bear his children.
She felt her muscles tense as he put his hand on her shoulder. "Come on Kagome, look at me." She shook her head in defience. "Fine," he rolled on his side facing away from her.
She just closed her eyes and forced her breathing to slow. She might as well get some sleep while she could.
--------------
Something, no, someone was poking her in the stomach. She groaned and swatted at the object. "Go away Sota, I want just a few more minutes."
He frowned. He wasn't Sota. So he poked her again. "C'mon wench, your Mom said it was time to get up, you have school" He said the word with so much distaste that it didn't take Kagome longer than two seconds to realize who it was.
She sat up quickly and stared dumfounded into Inuyasha's golden orbes. "You mean your going to let me go to school?" She asked.
He frowned but nodded anyway. He looked away but continued to watch her out of the corner of his eye. A smile slowly broke out across her face as she jumped up and pounced on Inuyasha.
"Thank you!" She jumped off and tore down the hall and into the bathroom. For some reason he felt warmth wash through his body at the sight of his mate's smiling face. If only he could get that face to show up more often.
----------
A flustered Kagome trotted down the steps looking left and right for a certain white haired demon that just happened to disapear as she was getting ready. But now here she was and she needed to know if he was going to be going with her.
"Inuyasha?" Kagome called and listened but got no reply. "Fine," she muttered. "Mom! I'm off! Bye, I'll see you when I get home!"
---------------
She flattened her hands over her dark blue hip huggers. The pants were tight at the waist but were bootcut at the bottom and her shirt was a black tank top. Her thin boots heels made a clicking sound as she walked calmly on the sidewalk.
She shifted her heavy bag that was starting to hurt her shoulder. She sighed. Inuyasha was following her, but why wouldn't he walk WITH her? Shaking her head she crossed the street. She was almost there now, she could see the top of the bricked building.
She knew that when she entered the school's campus that Inuyasha would have to travel on foot. The trees were spaced far apart and it would be impossible to jump from tree to tree without being seen by SOMEONE.
When she arrived at the gates she noticed that every person who went to the school seemed to be outside of the school.
Spotting her friends Rin, Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Kirara waving her down from the biggest tree on campus she jogged over to them and dropped to the ground.
Shippo hopped onto her shoulder Kagome could've sworn she heard a faint growl from above her but since no one else reacted, she said nothing.
Shippo stared at her and began to sniff, as did Kirara. Before she could react, her hair had been pulled aside to show the bit marks in her neck.
"Kagome!" Sango whispered. "You... You were..." Kagome could only nod.
"B-but how! WHO!" The life was slowly returning to Miroku's sleepy eyes as Sango questioned Kagome.
Before Kagome could answer she was pulled back into a warm, hard chest. "Me." She knew that gruff voice and that stream of silver, silky hair as it blew around her.
"And who are you my good demon?" Miroku asked as calmly as he could manage, but his twitching left eye gave him away. He knew what happened, and frankely, he was nervous. A demon's claim couldn't be removed once it had been set, not that the demon would want to anyway though.
Inuyasha scoffed. "Keh, I'm her mate, not that it was any of your buisness though," he paused. "Monk."
Kagome felt her back stiffen, she was about to make a sharp comment regarding the fact that he had claim her for a mate but Shippo's eyes told her not to. With much added force, she forced her mouth closed.
The arms around her waist tightened and Kagome stole a glance at her 'mate'. He looked pissed beyond words. She could hear the footsteps comming closer and as she turned around, she realized with jolt who it was. Hojo.
He smiled down at her then sent a confused look in Inuyasha's way. "Who are you?" His question was polite, she had to give him that.
"Inuyasha." He growled.
"Oh, nice to meet you Inuyasha. Hey, Kagome? Um, I was wondering, and I know it's not really a good time but," then his words all came out in one big rush. "My family is hosting a special dinner and I wanted to know if you would go as my, err, friend."
Kagome opened her mouth to poiltly reject the offer but Inuyasha beat her to it. Or, sorta.
Inuyasha's grip became so much more stonger and Kagome could barely breath, but she was wondering if it was out of fear or if she was really unable.
Once again Inuyasha gave Hojo a glare but this one was different. Kagome had never seen anything like this before. His eyes were a bloody red and instead of those beautiful amber colored eyes, his puples were now a turquiose. Dark blue jagged line slowly made themselves visable on his cheeks. His nails, which noticed painfully, had also grown into sharper claws. Kagome realized that his fangs had also grown and looked more menacing. He only said one word, but that one word was enough to send chills down her spine and made her want to run for cover.
"Mine." He snarled, his voice was clear and Kagome looked around to find that everyone in the courtyard had giving them their attention. It was then that Kagome took notice in her situation. She was half sitting and half being craddled on Inuyasha lap and her hands clung to the side of his firerat, or she thought that was what he had called it, so hard that her knuckles had turned a deathly looking white.
She felt the heat rush to her face and she looked over to her friends for help, but they looked just as scared as she felt. Or maybe it was a hesitation? They were smart. If there was anything to rember about a demon, was don't step between them and their mate. Ever.
Kagome slowly reached out and pat his clentched fists and felt relief when his hold loosened just a tiny bit. She sent a scolding glance at Hojo. "I am afraid that I will not be able to go with you."
Hojo just nodded but didn't move. Inuyasha was starting to get angry again. Didn't the fool get it? Kagome was his dammit!
Miroku slowly got to his feet and made sure that Inuyasha understood that he was going to remove Hojo from the scene.
Kagome let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. For good measures she continued to stroke Inuyasha's hand. When he had finally relaxed, she slowly tried to remove herself from his lap, but he tightened right back up again.
Just as she was about to remark, the bell rung clear and loud across the school yard. Saved by the bell!
"Where do you think your going?" He asked not releasing his grip.
"Um, to sign you up?" It was more like a question and not an answer, but he allowed it. Standing he placed her on her feet but hooked his arm around her waist. A sign of possesion. She shook her head and walked on with Inuyasha right beside her.
