Kagome woke up reluctantly the next morning. She felt terrible, with a pounding head, and a stomachache. She inwardly groaned, as she remembered that there was no time for being sick, because her friends were coming over today.
Dang, why me? I was actually gonna relax today. Oh well, I'll just take some Motrin, and try to act cheerful. After all, Sango was so excited about today, I can't just cancel on her.
So Kagome plastered her most cheerful smile on her face, and got up and dressed. She wasn't going to let anyone down today. She had been promising her friends for days that they could have a relaxing Saturday watching movies and talking. They hardly could find time to talk to each other at school, and the only ways that they could really contact one another was through IM, and the phone.
Since Kagome had plenty of time to burn before her friends would arrive, she decided to read some fanfiction on her computer. She wanted to see if her favorite author had updated. She loved his fan fictions; they made her feel as if she was with the main characters, and they were always original and creative.
She looked on the search engine for some of his work, and found a new fanfiction that he had written. As she read the first chapter she felt entranced. The story was funny, action-packed, and very descriptive. She was hooked by the first sentence.
Sometimes I wish that I had this same writing ability that dogears has, but everything I write is utter garbage.
Kagome was so into the story, that she didn't notice Sango sneak up on her. Sango then clapped her hands over Kagome's eyes, and yelled into her friend's ears “I'M HERE!”
“Sango! Dang, why do you have to yell right into my ear like that?!” Kagome's headache, that had disappeared after she had taken some painkillers, returned with full force.
“Are you okay Kag, you look tired.” Sango's face creased with worry, and she looked at Kagome with concern.
“I'm fine Sango, I just have a headache. I'm just gonna go and get some more Motrin, you just stay here in my room.” As soon as Kagome was out of her room, Sango launched herself at the computer on the desk. She looked at what had Kagome so interested, but Sango wasn't much of a reader, and decided to look at some of Kagome's e-mails.
The sixth e-mail down she found something that captured her attention. It was an e-mail from Koga, one of the most popular boys at GWHS. Sango opened it with wide eyes, and read the following words:
My dear Kagome,
I have become very close to you in class during our history project, and I often find myself admiring your graceful beauty. I would be very honored if you would see a movie sometime with me. Please contact me as soon as you can. I would like to tell you my true feelings in person.
With much affection,
Koga
Sango knew for a fact that Koga had dated lots of girls before, and he always had a ring of admirers around him. Why then would he want to go out with Kagome, one of the least popular girls in the entire school. Of course Kagome had worked with him on a three-week project not too long ago, but she hadn't offered any interest in him at all. But Sango also knew that if this was really Koga, he would do anything to get his way, so there was no way that Kagome could escape him. How old is this letter anyway? Sango looked at the date, and was surprised to see that it was written just yesterday. Maybe that was the real reason behind Kikyo lashing out at us yesterday. It's common knowledge that she has a major crush on Koga. If she heard about Koga's crush on Kagome, then she would be almost bloodthirsty. So why did she lash out at me?
Before Sango could ponder any further, the doorbell rang, and she was jolted from her thoughts.
“Sango, Miroku's here!” called Kagome, and with an excited shriek, Sango rushed from the bedroom.
