InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Screen Names ❯ Blood ( Chapter 15 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Disclaimer: I don't own Inu. Currently Kagome does. But I do own two InuYasha t-shirts (one with Inu on it, one with Naraku), three mangas (volumes 5, 10, and 15), all the InuYasha anime episodes (with subtitles, but who cares), two fan fiction filled notebooks, and two plushies (Sesshomaru and Kirara; Sesshy-chan is so kawaii!). Yeah, I'm obsessed, but who can deny my happiness.

Blood

Kagome felt as if someone had squeezed her heart until it became an oozing puddle on the floor.

If I don't stop hanging out with InuYasha, Koga's going to rape me. Right after he rearranges InuYasha's handsome face. I'm doomed. Would he really do something like that?

Kagome pictured Koga's heavy body on top of her, his nasty breath making her nauseous, with no InuYasha nearby to protect or comfort her. Kagome felt like crying, but she had cried herself dry. Instead, she rushed to the girl's bathroom, where she promptly emptied her stomach of her breakfast into the toilet. She looked at herself in the mirror. She was pale and shaking, and she now had a gross acidic taste in her mouth. She walked out of the bathroom, pausing at the drinking fountain to rinse out the taste.

Kagome walked slowly down the hallway. Her mind kept repeating the same phrase over and over again. I'm doomed. I'm doomed. I'm doomed. She felt drained of all her energy, and she just concentrated on putting one foot down at a time.

As Kagome walked slowly through the crowd of students, she heard a familiar voice.

“Oi, Kagome!” Kagome turned her head to see InuYasha wading through the mob of people. She smiled. It had barely been two weeks since she had met InuYasha, but the sight of him made her brighten up.

“Kagome what's the matter? You've been really quiet all day.” Kagome's faint smile disappeared.

“Is it something to do with this morning? Please tell me.” He placed a hand under her chin, and tilted her head upwards so she could look him in the eyes. Kagome looked at his face, filled with friendly concern. She felt something lodge in her throat. She felt sick and nauseous again, but at the same time happy that someone actually cared.

She leaned against the wall.

“I need to tell you something. Something very important. Just don't freak out, okay?” She cleared her throat, and told him everything. He listened with wide eyes, taking everything in. When her voice died out, he prompted her to finish, and let her sob dry tears on his shoulder when she came to the part about the threatening note.

When she was finished InuYasha looked like he was capable of murder. He began to growl, a sound that frightened Kagome. She didn't want any bloodshed; she just wanted everything to go away.

“That rotten bastard. He doesn't know when he's stepped over the line. I'm gonna beat that wimpy wolf's face in. Just leave it to me, Kagome.” A wicked grin alighted his face. “I'll wipe the street with his filthy remains.”

Kagome only sobbed louder.

“I don't want you to kill him!” InuYasha did a double take.

“What! After what that bastard threatened to do?! Are you nuts! He deserves it! Especially after making you cry like this! I don't like to see you cry.”

Kagome looked up at InuYasha's face. She knew that he would do anything to help her, even get thrown in jail. But how could she let him do that, just let him get in trouble, when it was all her fault anyway.

“There's a better way. We can report him to the authorities. We have the note as proof.”

InuYasha's face hardened.

“They ain't gonna do anything. Believe me, I should know.”

What happened? Kagome wondered. Why doesn't he trust the police.

“It was when I was seven. I had only just started school the previous year, and I had always been picked on. More then once I was cornered in the hallway so they could beat the pudding outta me. They called me inhuman, a disgrace to mankind. And I knew they were right. Miroku was in a different school at the time, so I was all alone. One time three of the biggest bullies faced off against me outside of school. We were at the park. This one policeman was there. He saw the kids beat me to a pulp, and ya know what he did. That son of a bitch laughed at me. But when I turned full demon, and started clawing them to pieces, he pulled me offa them, and shook me until I turned back to normal. I ran like hell was at my heels.”

Kagome hugged the poor guy. He acted like he was Mr. Macho all the time, but he really was just trying to put up a wall between him and the world. She was glad that she was one of the few he let it down for.

“Okay. You can beat him up. But don't let me watch. I hate seeing blood.” He smiled at her, and they walked out of the school together.

They had just gotten outside the school, when a high pitched voice reached their ears.

“Hmm, what have we here. Doggy-boy and Higurashi. Aww, how sweet.”

Kikyo looked at them with a smirk on her face.

“Hi Doggy-boy, did you miss my insults? `Cause I know it just makes you feel so special to have someone pay attention to you. Oh, by the way, did I tell you I want to be a photographer. Just take a look at my two favorite photos.” Kikyo reached into her backpack, and pulled out two photos, which she tossed to InuYasha.
InuYasha looked at the two photos. Kagome gazed at them as well. One of the photos was of her hugging InuYasha, and although that one wasn't too bad, it sure was embarrassing.

But the second one was of Kagome's kiss with Koga that very morning. Kagome felt her insides churn, and fear was clearly written on her face in the picture.

InuYasha began to growl, but this growl wasn't like his usual one. It was deeper, and more of a way to express to the unlucky victim that he was going to tear their organs from their body, and less of a way to express anger.

“You bitch!” His voice had changed suddenly. It was hoarser, ragged on the edges. He sounded like a feral animal.

His appearance began to change. His eyes became a crimson red, with blue pupils. Jagged purple stripes graced his face, and his two human ears disappeared, and were replaced with his two doggy ears. Two fangs poked out of his mouth, and claws as sharp as knifes replaced his normal finger nails.

“I've waited for quite a long time to get my claws into you. Hehehe, today is the day you breathe your last. And I shall feel blood under my claws once more.” He launched himself at Kikyo, his eyes flashing with glee.

A whole group of students soon surrounded them. There were cheers and booing all around. InuYasha became more enraged at the sounds, and backed Kikyo into the building. He clawed at her, and blood splattered.

Kikyo hadn't been that badly clawed. Although her right arm had four slashes, and blood poured from the wound, the cuts weren't that deep. InuYasha licked the blood from his claws and his face, and he shot Kikyo an evil grin.

“That was merely to prove to you that I am the superior here. My next blow shall be fatal. Prepare yourself.”

He raised his claws over his head, but before he could strike, Kagome tackled him. She held him back with all her might, looking slightly green at the sight of Kikyo's blood.

“Please, InuYasha, change back!” She held him tight around the waist. He shouted, and raged, and struggled to break her grip, but Kagome kept a firm hold on him.
“Sit! SIT!” Kagome shouted the subduing word until her throat was hoarse, but the rosary didn't respond.
He won't change back! C'mon InuYasha, control yourself! Please, all my priestess predecessors, give me your strength! I don't want him to kill!

But InuYasha didn't change, and his claws began to slash at her back. She resorted to desperate measures.
She leaned towards his face and kissed him.

All the girl students that had been watching the fight went “Aww!” as Kagome's lips touched his. His fangs bit against her poor, already bruised lips, but she didn't waver in her resolve. Slowly, she could feel him change back. The flailing arms stopped, and the slashing claws disappeared.

She finally broke the kiss, and looked up at a perfectly normal looking InuYasha. The only difference was his dog ears were still there.

She gently tweaked them, and smiled.
