"I told you this was a bad idea," Inuyasha grumbled.
After seeing the form of the mirror, Kagome had been too worried to sleep at night. Instead, she had tossed and turned around; making Inuyasha extremly irritated. He finally gave in after the third night, where he swore he was getting panda eye rings. Sitting in the hall while waiting for Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha had to agree that he was filthy rich. At the far end of the hall way was a glass cabinet containing all the weapons. The first one was, of course, Sesshoumaru's Tenseiga and Tokigin. The second row lays the fans which obviously belong to Kagura. The third row lays another unfamillar sword. Kagome shivered. What if Kagura tries to kill them too? The house was bright and not like Sesshoumaru's personality at all. Kagome had imagined the house to be kind of gloomy; since he is a gloomy person. Almost everywhere was filled with lamps and beautiful decorations like a ballroom. The sofa was made of leather and it looks so new too.
"I assumed you were looking for me?" Sesshoumaru came down from the stairs. He was wearing a tight sweater and jeans. Rolling up his sleeves and crossing his legs, Sesshoumaru folded his arms and raised and eye brow at Inuyasha.
Inuyasha stood up and turned around to glower at Sesshoumaru. "So you finally remembered us and came down?"
Sighing, Sesshoumaru took off his spectacles. "I had some work to do. Did you think that my job is to only sell cars? I had some youkai meeting too." He made of show of flicking his wrist and looking at his Rolex watch. "I suppose I do have some time for you. Sit." Strolling over, he sat down on the sofa beside the one Inuyasha was sitting on.
Kagome rolled her eyes. "We came here to tell you one thing - Naraku is alive."
Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes and diverted his attention to Kagome. "I assumed you're telling the truth? May I know how did you find out?"
"H-h-He sent a mirror to the shrine."
"And what does that mirror have to do with anything?"
"It's Kanna's mirror. Naraku's face - atleast, that's what I think, appeared in the mirror. He looked horrible with his flesh sunken in. His bones look like they could break anytime and he was so pale and sickly . . . " Kagome trailed off. She buried her face in her hands as if it was a terrible thing.
Sesshoumaru stood up. His face contorted into a frown as he placed his right index finger and thumb on his chin. Walking to and fro infront of Inuyasha, he seemed to be deep in thought.
Inuyasha's eyes followed him around as Sesshoumaru continued prancing. Finally, he couldn't stand it anymore. He stood up and pointed at him. "OI! CAN YOU FUCKING STOP IT? IT'S DAMN FUCKING IRRITATING!"
"Huh?" Sesshoumaru looked up as if he had just appeared right in front of Inuyasha and Kagome and didn't know what was going on. "Oh sorry. I was thinking about some other things." Face breaking into a grin, he looked at Inuyasha. "I have some good news for you."
"Spit it out." Inuyasha frowned, deciding whatever was good news to him would not be good news to himself at all. Ignoring Kagome's glower, he stood forward and stuck his hands into his pockets. "So?"
"I've been investigating your case for a couple of years. We've found someone that you might want to meet. Technically, both of you might want to meet her." His gaze fluttered over to Kagome once more as his gaze turned serious. "The miko is alive."
"Which miko?" Inuyasha asked. He had a distinct feeling he didn't want to know who it was at all.
"The one who sealed you to the Goshinboku, baka."
"Keh-"
Inuyasha's retort was cut of by Kagome's loud shriek. Inuyasha's ears flattened as he winced while Sesshoumaru remained expressionless. "Really? Where is she?!"
"She is a teacher who teaches archery. It was difficult tracking her down because she changed her name once a century."
"Which school does she teaches in?" Kagome asked. Somehow, the thought of Kikyo teaching people doesn't suit her very well.
"She has set up her own centre. Her current name is Daniyo. I guess she'll be changing it in no time. You can find her at this place." He took out a small notepad and a ballpoint pen. Biting off the cap, he started writing down the address. Handing it to Kagome, he stood back. "I trust you'll be looking for her?"
"Of course!" Kagome looked so happy that even Inuyasha couldn't manage to say anything else. "Thank you so much! Before we go, can we see Kagura and your children?"
"Speaking of children, do you have any working at a hotel?"
Sesshoumaru shot Inuyasha a look. "No. They are still young."
Kagome's eyes widened. "That means the girl we saw that time was one of Naraku's underhands!"
"He must be taking a long time trying to gather people." Sesshoumaru said thoughtfully.
"Oh! Inuyasha and Kagome! How nice to meet you!"
Both Inuyasha and Kagome turned their heads at that cheerful voice. "Kagura?" Kagome asked uncertainly.
"Of course!" Her eyes darted to the two sleeping children on the sofa. "These must be your children! Oh my goodness look at how cute they are! Can I touch them?"
"S-sure." Kagome smiled. Inuyasha growled as his children got 'harrassed' by Kagura. Ignoring the look Kagome shot him, he stuck folded his arms again and let out a loud 'Keh'.
"I'm sorry, Inuyasha." Kagura pouted.
Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes. "Ask Kichiro and Gurati to come down." He said to his wife without taking his eyes off Inuyasha.
"KICHIRO! GURATI!" Kagura shouted up the stairs.
"I distinctly remembered asking you to ask and not shout." Sesshoumaru reprimanded his wife.
"It's not polite to leave customers like that." She turned towards Kagome. "Would you people like anything to drink?"
"No thank you. We're leaving soon."
Two boys came jumping down the stairs. Both were carrying wooden swords and pretending to fight as if in a real battle. The older boy gripped his sword in the exact same style as Inuyasha and shouted "KAZE NO KIZU!" The younger one jumped back.
Inuyasha arched an eyebrow with an amused espression. Kagome was smiling. Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes again and stepped forward to intercept the 'battle'. It was as if they just realised they were in the middle of the audience. Both turned red and looked down. Suddenly, to Inuyasha's absolute horror, the older boy jumped up and heaved himself in the middle of Inuyasha's chest. Inuyasha's breath rushed out of him as he made a 'oof' sound.
"Kichiro, down." Sesshoumaru sounded serious. Even Kagura didn't dare interrupt.
"But Father . . . "
"You heard me. Now down." Sesshoumaru's voice was filled with determination and the young one hopped down and stood beside his brother.
"They simply idolise you, Inuyasha! Ever since Sesshoumaru told them about you, they began imitating you in every way they could have-" Kagura began excitedly.
"Not now, Kagura." Sesshoumaru said but he turned quite pink. Shaking his head, he pointed to the older son. This is Kichiro and the other one is Gurati. I'll leave them to you, Kagura. Miko, come with me."
Kagome started towards Sesshoumaru but was blocked by Inuyasha. Where the fuck do you think you're taking her?"
"I need to tell her somethings in private."
"Keh! If you have anything, say it right here."
"Uncle Inu'sha, can you play with me?" Kichiro tugged on Inuyasha's shirt and asked.
"Not now, pup." Once the words left his mouth, he regretted it. The kid's lip was trembling and was about to cry.
He wiped his tears away and sniffed. "Father said boys cannot cry." With that, he stomp away to Kagura's side.
"Inuyasha! You stay here and look after the kids and play with them. I'll be back. Nothing will happen to me. I promise."
Inuyasha didn't look like he was going to comply. After a long time, he sighed and went over to the sofa. Smiling, Kagome followed Sesshoumaru upstairs.
"What do you want to talk to me about?" Kagome asked.
"Sit."
Kagome did so. She looked up at him expectantly.
"I knew about Naraku's coming back." He sighed, folded his arms and stared out of the window with a faraway look on his face. "After all these years, I've seen and heard alot of things. Kagura changed alot since I brought her back. Alot of people did. I didn't cherish what I had. In the end, I lost everything." He turned around and Kagome was shocked to see his eyes watering. "There's one way you can defeat Naraku. It is very difficult. I cannot tell you the answers. You have to find them for yourself. I can only tell you - this battle, this disaster coming up is only for Inuyasha and you; including your children. The taijiya and the priest will not be involved. This thing . . . will be where you and Inuyasha are connected to. Naraku will use that as a weapon. He will destroy it if you're too late. Inuyasha will be gone because he does not belong here. He should have died about 300 years ago because of his stubborness. But you brought him here. If you do not protect what you cherish, you will lose everything."
Kagome digested that in silence. She then looked at him in a sense of deep respect though her shocked look still remained there. She stood up very slowly as she replayed the conversation in her brain over and over again. After a long time, Kagome thanked him and ran down the stairs, back to the hall where Inuyasha was telling the kids about their adventures with Kagura listening. Inuyasha looked up to see Kagome staring at him sadly. "Done? What did that bastard say to you?"
"Nothing."
Inuyasha knew it was a lie but decided it was no use pressing her anyway. Picking up the already woken Suzuki, he waited for her. Kagome stepped over to carry Inokuma. They bid goodbye and went off. On the way home, Kagome was unusually quiet.
`What place can it be?`
`Where do you think?`
`How would I know, duh?`
`Where do you think you're connected anyway?`
`The babies?`
`I don't know.`
Kagome frowned as she tried to find other things that connect her and Inuyasha. It couldn't be the hidden well because it connected ALL of them and Sesshoumaru had specifically specified it only included the two of them. She would have to find out later then. Now is the time to sleep. . .
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"This is it then?" Kagome look up at the signboard.Inuyasha shrugged. "Think so."
Pushing open the door, Kagome looked and open her mouth in shocked. Sitting behind the table was Kikyou. . .
"Yes may I . . . " Kikyou trailed off. "Inuyasha? Kagome-sama?"
Kagome's eyes filled with tears joy as she glanced at Kikyou and then at Inuyasha. "I'll leave you two alone." Kagome started to walk away.
Inuyasha grabbed Kagome's arm. "Stay." His eyes were still focused on Kikyou's. "500 years, Kikyou."
"I thought you were dead!"
"What?!"
"I thought Kagome and you died 300 years ago."
Kagome winced and sighed. So she knew too . . . Maybe she shouldn't have come here in the first place at all.
Inuyasha didn't miss it. "Did you know it?"
"I didn't want you to be worried."
Inuyasha turned to Kikyou. "Do you know that Naraku has revived?"
Kikyou's eyes flared wide. "What?!"
"Daniyo sen-sei! I'm sorry to be late for the appointment. Mother wanted me to finish my homework first."
Three heads turned towards the voice. "It's alright, Tsubasi. We'll just have to punish you with a more difficult round then, I suppose."
"Please? I'm sorry I won't do it again!"
Kikyou sighed. "Alright. Get in with your gear and wait for me there-"
"AHHH! Why are there TWO Daniyo sen-seis?" The girl stared in shock at Kagome, then at Kikyou.
Kikyou smiled. "She's my sister. Now get in there before I change my mind."
"Oops! I'm sorry." With that she rushed into another room.
"I apologise but I got to go. I assume you are living at the shrine? I'll visit you ok? Bye!" Kikyo put on a brown vest, waved a goodbye and went into the room.
Kagome sighed. In the end, she was left with only more questions than answers.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Kagome buried her head in her hands and heaved a loud sigh. She had been sighing alot these few days. Inuyasha had been pestering her to tell him what else Sesshoumaru had told her. She sank herself lower into the bath-tub. Everything is getting more and more complicated. With each infomation she had gathered up, the more confused she got. She must save her family. Even if that means she would have to die. She started singing her favourite song as she tapped her feet in the water:I will not make the same mistakes that you did
I will not let myself
Cause my heart so much misery
I will not break the way you did,
You fell so hard
I've learned the hard way
To never let it get that far
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid
I lose my way And it's not too long before you point it out
I cannot cry
Because you know that's weakness in your eyes
I'm forced to fake
A smile, a laugh everyday of my life
My heart can't possibly break
When it wasn't even whole to start with
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid
I watched you die
I heard you cry every night in your sleep
I was so young
You should have known better than to lean on me
You never thought of anyone else
You just saw your pain
And now I cry in the middle of the night
For the same damn thing
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you
I don't know how to let anyone else in
Because of you
I'm ashamed of my life because it's empty
Because of you
I am afraid
Because of you
Because of you
"Why am I singing this song?" Kagome asked herself.I will not let myself
Cause my heart so much misery
I will not break the way you did,

`Because HE might be dying.`
`Who's he?`
`Don't know.`
Kagome got out of the water and wrapped a towel around her body. Shaking her head as she forgot to bring in her clothes, she peeked out the door. Coast clear. She ran all the way up the stairs to bump in Inuyasha. She almost fell backward at the impact. Inuyasha grabbed her by her hand and pulled her up. Kagome stared at him as she licked her lips, cheeks flushed. Suddenly she thought of it. Pushing Inuyasha aside as he mumbled some word she decided she was better off not hearing, she pulled on some clean clothes and ran all the way down; not stopping until she reached the Goshinboku . . .
