Chapter 3

*** Naraku's Castle ***

"We searched the village like you said to my Lord,"a servant said to the king of Eastern Lands,"but we did not find the girl you described."
"What do you mean you didn't find her!" King Naraku screamed at the unfortunate servent, "That was the last village in the kingdome! She has to be there!"
"Ummm My Lord there is one village we did not check. The old slayer village on the outskirts of the kingdome."
"That village is still around! I thought it was wiped out years ago when the Western lands had the battle with the wolf tribe that was trying to take over."
"I do not think so my Lord because it was just out of the line of fire and the people knew how to protect themselves in case you have forgotten." The servant pointed out.
"What do you mean ' in case I have forgotten' I know what happens in my kingdome! How dare you, a lowly servant, think you know more then me!"
"No! My Lord that's not what I meant at all! I..." The servant never finished his sentance because at that moment Naraku lashed out and killed him.
"Now as I was about to say, before my unrulely servant interupted, I should go check the slayer village. She must be there."Naraku said to himself "I know just how to find her."


*** Slayer Village***

"Your Highness! What an unexpected surprise that you would visit our humble village!" Sango's mother stutered when she saw who was at the door.
"Yes, yes" Naraku muttered destractedly "I was passing through when I realized how late it was and thought I might rest for the night at one of these lovely houses."
"Of course, I'll get my girls room ready for you, if you think my home is worthy for you to stay the night."
"You have have daughters? I would love to meet them. Where arer they?" Since this was the last village Naraku had to look for the girl in he might as well get in all the looking he could.
"They just went outside to say good-bye to their friend I'll go get them!" With that she ran out of the room to round up her Sango, Kagome and Miroku.

Let's see, I have to have a good excuse for taking the girl, if this is she. I know I'll tell that woman that I was looking for a preistess to help me with the resent demon attackes on the kingdome. So I won't have to bother with the others if I don't want them.

"Greetings Lord Naraku!" Exicted vocies woke Naraku out of his thoughts. He looked up and was surpised to see the girl he was looking for. He knew she must be here but he never expected to find her this easy. She looked just like the last time he saw her. Of course she was older now it was little more then twelve years since he saw her last.

Now to get her to come with me. Good thing I'm such a wonderful actor. Ha ha ha! I knew she was a preistess now I have proof. It's all in her aura. How easy!

"Hello!" Naraku said with false warmness in his voice. "Would you honor me with your names please."

Kagome steped into the house with Sango and Miroku behind her and knelt in front of Naraku. "My name is Kagome Your Highness and this is my friend Miroku, my sister Sango, and my mother Sakura. We are honored to have you in our home. Is there anything I can get you, a drink or food or some cake from our party today."
"No, no that's fine. I don't need anything but a place to sleep. Your mother offered me your room for the night. Tha's all I need." Naraku said still with the fake cheeriness in his voice. "If you don't mind though I would like to talk with you, because I want to more about the people who live in my kingdome in case there are any concerns I have not heard yet."
"We have nothing to complain about My Lord. It is a very lovely kingdome, the Eastern Lands." Kagome said being as proper as possible. "In fact my sister and I just had a lovely birthday party today."
"Oh really?" Naraku answered "How old are you today?"
"I am sixteen today and Kagome is fifteen." Sango said.

Perfect! She's just the right age.

They talked like that for another half an hour when Naraku decided it was time to tell them about how he needed more people to help fight the demons from the Western Lands.

Well I guess it's time to split up this happy family. Now girl you evaded me for twelve years time to face your fate!

"Sadly not all is as well in the rest of the kingdome as it is here. There have been an increaseing amount of demon attacks and many of the preistess that serve at the castle are... not with us anymore." Naraku said his cheerfulness gone into deep sadness and remorse. He truely was a good actor."The reason I have been touring my kingdome is to search for more preistesses to come to the castle to help me fend off at least some of the attacks and show Sesshomaru we will not bend under pressure. I don't know if you heard the rumores but he wants to add the Eastern Lands to his kingdome."
"Oh!" Kagome let out a little yelp. "I didn't know. I heard that Seshomaru seemed cold but was a just ruler and understood that the Eastern Lands were his alies. What could have happened to make him attack us like that!"
"What I think my dear is Sesshomaru got tired of being even with us and wanted more power and the easiest way to get it is to take advantage of his friendship with us. Naturaly when I realized what he was doing I stoped him and this is his revenge I guess."
"That's horible!" Sango exclaimed "How many preistesses did you get for the defence?"
"None yet Sango. But I have just started I'm sure to find more! Actually I think I found one in this village."
"Ah! Who?" Sakura asked
"Your daughter, Kagome."
"ME!" Kagome yelled wide eyed. she looked like she was going to faint.
"Yes, my dear, you. If you are willing I will get you a room in the castle and lessons from a very experined preistess. All you have to do is come with me."
"I have to come to help with the attackes?"
"Only if you want."
"Of course I do!" Kagome said. Suddenly a thought dawned on her. "Your Highness you said I would be the only one to come to help you right?"
"Sadly, yes."
"Well then My Lord I have a wonderful idea! We all could come with you, Sango Miroku and I!"
"I'm terrible sorry my dear Kagome but I don't think I have any reason to take them with us, I know you will miss then very much but you can come back here once the attackes stop." Naraku said in his most condoling voice.
"Forgive me but you misunderstand. I thought they could come with us because Sango has been studying to be a demon slayer and is better then most of the slayers here. And Miroku is a monk. Who better to fight demons then us?"

Damn her! That makes too much sense to deny. But her friends would realize what happened to her if they arre there. Aaarrrrgh I guess I'll just have to deal with it then.

"That's a great idea, Kagome! I would be glad to have them come with us but what if Miroku isn't allowed to come I mean it is up to his parents."
"Of course, My Lord if you will excuse me I must go get premisson."
"You are excused Miroku. Be here tomorrow at noon with the answer because that is when we leave. Sakura do I have your premission to take both your daughters with me. I would understand if you wished to keep one daghter here to help you."
"No My Lord you may take them I understand the kingdome's needs are more important then mine." Sakura said
"Thank you Sakura. That is most generous."

The next day at noon Miroku was there with his parents bleesings. They said it would do him good to get out of such a small village and she more of the Eastern Lands. Once he was loaded down with provisions and advise he started off down the path to Kagome's and Sango's house.

There was a huge crowd in front of the house. Word must have spread over night that the king was in the village because there was no way for Miroku to get through to the door.
"Miroku! Miroku over here!" Kagome and Sango were calling. Miroku couldn't even see them. Then Naraku's powerful voice thundered across the crowd "Let the boy through I need to speak with him." Like magic the crowd parted into a path so Miroku could get by. He ran down the path, afriad the path would close. When he got there the door open just enough to let him in.
"Well Miroku what is the decision?" Naraku asked secretly hoping the answer was no because he knew Miroku would protect the girls especially Sango.
"I can come!" Miroku shouted triumpthantly."If the offer still stands that is My Lord."
"Are you ready then. We are leaveing now."
"Yes Your Higness I'm ready what about you two? Sango, Kagome you cool?"
"Yes we'er cool and ready too." Sango said with a giggle.
"Umm, My Lord would you mind if I brought my cat Kirara with us would you?"
"No, that would be fine."
"Oh thank you Your Highness!"
" If thats all let us go. The kingdome needs us as soon as possible."

Once they were on the road things calmed down considerablely. Naraku was in the lead giving the three friends a chance to talk about what had happehed so far.
"I can't believe this!" Kagome said "I never thought I would be inside castle!" Kagome said.
"I know I'm so excited I think I'm gonna burst."
"Really now ladies can't you act civilized it's just a castle we are going to share with the king. It's no big deal." Miroku said with snoby voice. All three of them looked at each other and burst out laughing.

At the next village they took a break to get something to eat. Kagome Sango and Miroku had never seen such luxurius food. They realized how Naraku looked at it like it was medeoker. That just made the trio more excited to get to the palace, if only to taste the food. After they ate they bought horses to make the going easier and faster. Kagome, Sango and Miroku had never riden horses and they made Kirara nervous but nevertheless they tryed and actually enjoyed it after they got used to the bumpy riding.

It was almost midnight when everyone decided it was time to stop. They were in the middle of the forest, so they knew they were near the middle of the Eastern Lands.
"Now Miroku, Sango, you two go get water in case we get thirsty in the night and so we don't have to get it in the morning." Naraku ordered.
"King Naraku do you happen to know were a stream or river is so we could get the water?" Miroku asked.
"I think I heard a stream a little while back. Head north when you see that creepy looking tree." Kagome butted in.
"Creepy looking tree?" Miroku asked.
"Oh! I know the one you mean! It's real creepy and scarey." Sango said.
"Oh, that's real descriptive." Miroku said sarcasticly.
"Yeah!" Kagome said, happy that at least Sango knew what she meant.
"Okay is that enough to go on?" Naraku asked, a little snappishly for just being asked a question, Kagome thought.
"Yes My Lord, we'er going." Miroku and Sango said at the same time.
"Would you like Kagome to come with us Lord Naraku?" Sango asked timidly, she realized he was in a bad mood. She wasn't sure why but thought she should get Kagome away from Naraku.
"No! Just go get the water before the sun comes up!" Naraku yelled. With that Sango and Miroku went back along the path looking for a stream.

After awhile of Naraku stareing at her, Kagome was feeling very uncomfortable. She finally asked "Lord Naraku is there something you would like me to do? I'm sorry if I have forgotten."
"No,no my dear Kagome you have not forgotten anything but I can feel you are tired. I will prepare us a shelter. you can just rest against a tree for a while."Naraku said with a smile that seemed sweet but scared Kagome half to death.
"My Lord I should be preparing a shelter for you! You do not need to do that for me!"
"But my dear you are very tired,as I said I can tell, so go to sleep. If not for yourself then for the kingdome. Imagine how devistated the people would be if they saw I not only came back with only one preistess but one the already looks drained." Naraku said in a soft soothing,calming voice. "Now go to sleep I will watch over you." Naraku was extemely close to Kagome but Kagome didn't seem to mind because suddenly she was so unimaginablely and unexplicably tired. So Kagome fell into a deep,deep sleep with Naraku watching and waiting.

Hi again :) Sorry this chapter took so long but I couldn't think of anything to type. In fact you got this chapter cuz I had a weird ass dream that was perfect for this chapter. But since that kinda chaged somethings in the story I might not get chapters out as much as I like. By the way I was thinking of starting another fic with my best friend like a co-author thing. I don't know when though but soon so look out for it. I'll tell you when we post the first chapter (and the title once we figure that out too) K thanks for listening to me go onand on.
