Chapter 23-Feud Over Kikyo's Honor

Inuyasha was awed and stunned at what insults Kayoko had just given Kikyo, but most of all that she even knew who Kikyo was, she wasn't there with him fifty years ago, how could she have known?

Akeela-She certainly doesn't sound very pleasant or trustworthy. And by “was” do you mean she's dead?

Kayoko-She died, but was resurrected by a witch from a body of clay by a part of Kagome's soul that was stolen from her by the witch.

Inuyasha-Shut up Kayoko! You know nothing of what happened!

Kayoko turned her head slowly to look at Inuyasha very seriously, he now regretted saying that. He couldn't control his words; Kayoko looked like she was ready to chop off his head for such disrespect.

Kayoko-Then how do I know that she was resurrected, that Naraku was the one who betrayed her but she believed it was you at first, that you've done nothing but stand there while she's tried to murder Kagome. You would've sliced her in half with Tetsaigua were she not the very person you used to love!

Inuyasha-That's not true, you only hate her because she protected the Shikon No Tama that bears Midoriko's soul. You don't really hate Kikyo!

Kayoko-YES I DO! SHE'S A KANIVING LITTLE WITCH WHO SHOULD JUST LEAVE US ALONE AND DIE!

Inuyasha know grew silent, and turned his head to the ground.

Inuyasha-If I must defend Kikyo's honor, than I will gladly kill you for your respect.

Kayoko and Akeela gasped at Inuyasha's remarks, only to later have Kayoko laughing menacing at Inuyasha who kept his serious face on.

Kayoko-You truly think that even the mighty Tetsusaigua can stop me? FAT CHANCE! Do not dare to ever try and say that Kikyo was a valuable person to the world, she's only messed up the future even more by staying alive. SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE!

Inuyasha-Enough I will fight you Kayoko, if need be.

He unsheathed his sword, as Kayoko called up her two swords of Fire and Ice, black handles with a black diamond in each with the blades silver and red/blue.

They stepped out of Kaede's hut, facing each other, while Kagome, Shippo, Sango and Miroku came to see them with shocked expressions to see the two angry at each other. Before a word could be spoken though, a blue whirlwind came closer in the distance. Kagome, Shippo, Sango and Miroku turned to see Koga appear on the scene while Kayoko and Inuyasha were still staring each other straight in the eye. `I don't want to fight you Inuyasha, if only Nianna wasn't so stubborn enough to fight poor Takuro. What a fool to deceive him only to end up hurting not only him, but herself!' Kayoko contemplated if following in history's footsteps was right, or if it was right to change the future in stead of making it repeat itself. Koga stared at Kayoko with stunned silence until he glanced over at Inuyasha who glared back at him.

Koga-What do you think you're doing fighting a wolf Mutt-Face?!

Inuyasha-She insulted Kikyo, if Kikyo were here, she'd do the same!

Suddenly a figure from the shadow's walked on the scene from the forest; her scent was cloaked but now the sound of her footsteps slowly walking over to the group. Inuyasha turned his head to lay his eyes upon Kikyo's figure staring back at him with watery eyes.

Kikyo-Do you truly mean that you'd risk your life to just defend my honor Inuyasha?

Inuyasha stepped closer to her with shaking honey eyes as he replied with extending his hand towards hers.

Inuyasha-Of course, like I said… I never stopped thinking about you even for a second.

Kikyo drew her hand away and turned her head to look towards Kayoko then Kagome.

Kikyo-I'm nothing but clay now Inuyasha. Kayoko helped me to realize that, and Kagome is living flesh. I want you to be happy with something real, not me…something that's nothing but rotting bones and dirt, I don't even have a soul to call my own anymore. I release you of your love Inuyasha, spend your life with reality not a dead fantasy.

She turned her head back down and then up with a smile and crying eyes.

Kikyo-Your love for me will never be forgotten, and thank you for your help Kayoko.
