Chapter 12: To Life and Back Again
Inuyasha lay with Kagome, they had been laying outside on the grass for almost two hours. Neither wanting to ruin the beautiful serenity that swept over them. Alas, the weather didn't seem to care about this and slowly the night cooled, and the clouds picked up, sprinkles released, and finally it poured.
"I should have sensed that coming." Inuyasha smiled. He put his sweater on Kagome and she thanked him as they walked, but mostly ran, to Kagome's apartment. Once inside Kagome shook her hair, spraying Inuyasha, he did the same though he had more hair and it caused Kagome to scream in a giddy sort of way.
"Have I told you lately I loved you?" she smiled and he leaned down to kiss her.
"I love you too wench. Now more than ever, if that is possible." he kissed her again.
"Mm, baka."
They continued to kiss with undying passion and Inuyasha felt up her thigh, her short skirt rising to be considerably shorter. He picked her up and put her on the counter. Knocking many boxes, and other unimportant items off in the process. Kagome giggled at his feistiness as he crawled on top of her. He kissed her lips, down her jaw, to her neck. Kagome allowed him to do as he wanted.
Inuyasha slid a hand up her skirt feeling her warmth through her panties. She moaned to his touch, he captured the moan in his mouth. He broke the kiss long enough to pull her panties off from under her skirt. He slid a finger into her, followed by two, then three. Kagome's hips bucked against his fingers. She did the same with his boxers, discarding them across the room. She looked over his masculine form. She kissed him once more before moving down his body to his manhood.
Kagome began to slowly torture him, blowing quick bursts of hot air around his tip and down his length. He shuddered at the feeling. Kagome set herself back down on the bed as the piece of clothing was off her and thrown carelessly with the rest of the useless clothing. "Great. I'm going to take a shower and get dressed." Kagome kiss him on the cheek and skipped down the hall and into her bedroom.
Inuyasha wandered around the apartment for a timed twenty minutes. (During which he managed to wander through the bedroom picking up his clothing that was carelessly discarded.) He then sat down on the couch acting as though he wasn't bored for another ten minutes while Kagome brushed her hair and made her self 'presentable'.
"Inuyasha. I thought of something in the shower."
"Hai, what?"
"My mom," Kagome bit her bottom lip, "she doesn't know about. . . err, us."
"What do you mean? She knows we are together."
"But she doesn't know we are mated." Kagome looked timid standing in the door frame.
"Hey, don't worry. She can't be kept in the dark forever." Inuyasha hugged Kagome closely, "Don't worry if you don't want to tell her we don't have to. Or I can tell her if you want."
"Are you sure? I want her to know, but to her, I am still a little girl."
"Don't worry. I'll leave out the fact that I took your virginity when you were sixteen." his lighthearted take on the situation caused Kagome to become more nervous. "Don't worry." he repeated.
"Okay then." she sighed deeply, "Ready?" Inuyasha nodded, and followed Kagome out the door.

"Kagome?" her mother walked in from the kitchen where she had been reading the Sunday paper.

"I have some really exciting news actually." Kagome smiled happily, "I remember everything. About my past, well, the past." Inuyasha smiled behind her back and Mrs. Higarashi smiled just as widely as the (in her eye's) children.
"There is more to remembering her past too. Something that needs to be shared." Inuyasha interjected.
"Oh, what is that?" Mrs. Higarashi asked. Kagome felt butterflies in her stomach but she was determined to be a 'big girl' about this.
"Inuyasha and I have," she paused thinking for a moment. . . *'Mating' sounds just as bad as 'have had sex'. We aren't really engaged or anything though so I can't say that. oo0o why did I agree to this?*
"Mated, Mrs. H. We have mated." Inuyasha finished for her and she was partly relieved.
"Well. Children. Why didn't you tell me? Mating is," she didn't want to state what it was, "Well, you know. That is, exciting." her smile had faded slightly at the shock at first but grew back in a matter of seconds. After all, her daughter was nineteen now and could do whatever she pleased.
"Hai, but Mom, if we are going to tell you everything, you should know, we've been mated for three years." Mrs. Higarashi's eye's grew wide as she calculated in her mind that her daughter had mated with a demon when she was seventeen.
"Glad to see he waited for you then." she tried to remain calm about the situation, she wasn't one to 'freak' out when a situation became uncomfortable.
"Thank you so much mom." Kagome let go of Inuyasha's hand and hugged her mother. "I thought you were going to freak out or something, though I don't know why, you love Yash. Just, oh, thank you for being so understanding."
"Of course sweetheart." Inuyasha smiled at Mrs. Higarashi but received what was undoubtedly the death glare. He gulped slightly and tried to back away from the mother and his mate.
"I am going to go say 'hi' to Grandpa. Is he doing better?"
"No, if anything worse. He is fading fast." Mrs. Higarashi felt tears well up in her eye's.
"I'll be back in a few minutes. Want to come up Inuyasha?" Mrs. Higarashi gave him a look and he wanted so much to leave her presence, but the look stated different.
"No, I think you need to see him on your own." Kagome nodded and walked up the stairs.
"We need to speak." Inuyasha quivered again. *Sure I could take on a hundred demons at a time without breaking a sweat. But women, man are they frightening* .

"Grandpa?" Kagome stood beside the bed as her Grandfather's eye's opened. "Hi. How are you feeling today?"
"Not well dear. Not well." Kagome felt tears but she continued her speech, her voice never faltering.
"I remember everything. Everything about my past. It feels so nice to remember again."
"I am glad," his breathing began to shallow as he tried to speak. "Inuyasha is your mate eh?" Kagome marveled at how he knew that. "He is a nice boy, even if he is a demon. His spirit isn't evil." Kagome smiled at her grandfathers words.
"You should rest. You'll be better in no time."
"You shouldn't lie Kagome. I'm dying and I know it. But I had to see my Granddaughter before I passed. Souta came by a few days ago, his girlfriend is evil, I don't trust her. But I can't stop him. You found the key then?"
"To unlocking my memories. Yes, it was the-"
"The jewel." he finished.
"How did you know?"
"I know more than you might think. I am old, but I am wise. Kikyou," he stopped to take a deep breath, "her work is not done. Be warned. Inuyasha is in dange-" he began coughing and Kagome ran to get him a glass of water. "Thank you dear. Get your mother and Inuyasha. It is time."
§¤*~ Meanwhile ~*§¤*~
"Inuyasha, why didn't you tell me?! Would it have killed you to say 'oh by the way I slept with your daughter, have a nice day?'!" Mrs. Higarashi began furiously stirring her tea.
"I am sorry, Kagome wanted to tell you herself. Then she lost her memories and well, here we are." Inuyasha wanted to stick his proverbial tale between his legs and run.
"There were two years in there when you could have told me."
"I know, I am sorry."
"Don't worry. It's actually very exciting. Mating, doesn't that mean that you are together forever now?"
"Hai, basically." Inuyasha replied. Mrs. Higarashi clapped her hands together happily.
"Oh we have to plan a wedding, I can clean up the shrine and you can get married there. Oh Souta will have to come back from Kyoto. . . "
"Mom! Yash! Grandpa. . ." she took a deep breath, "It's time."

"Sweetie," Mrs. Higarashi sat beside her father's bed, holding his hand. "Take care of the young ones, even if the demon is older then both of us, they are still young."

"I love you, and I could not be happier with the life I lived. You two will be happy. But remember, the danger you are in." he pointed to Inuyasha who looked back slightly confused. His eye's drifted closed and the slow beeping monitoring his heart became a long steady, unwavering beep. Kagome crashed to her knees crying. Mrs. Higarashi kissed her father's hand and she too cried.
Awww. . . *sniffle* I didn't like writing that ending. . . but look LEMON! ^-^ yay! It's a shorter one than usual, but I've seen shorter so ya win some ya loose some! anyway, chapter thirteen on the way. . . ya know upon later reflection, this could never have been a one shot haha! ^_-
