20: August
The thunder outside clapped loudly in the still morning. Inuyasha had been up for only a few minutes this morning before the thunder rang through the air and lightning lit the sky. He walked to the window to gaze out at the falling rain. It fell in furious mounds, as though it were deliberately trying to harm the world. He was in his hanyou form and his enhanced senses were picking up the danger of the storm. Thunderstorms scared him, ever since he was a little kid. He felt childish being afraid of light, and rain, but he couldn't help it. A loud clap of thunder caused him to jump backwards, away from the window.
He thought of a few days ago, when there had been another storm, and that is when he heard his brother talking of a plan. Then, a day later, he heard him discussing an opposite plan with Nyoko at dinner. The storm had woken him up then too. He ran over the conversations in his mind, trying to see if he could help in anyway.
On the night of the storm, three days ago he walked into the living room instead of going back to bed. No one was awake yet and he decided to turn right back around and try getting some more sleep. Sesshomaru's voice caused him to stop and listen.
"If I can somehow get Kagome and Nyoko alone. But how? Inuyasha won't let me take Kagome without him knowing every speck and detail. I can't take them to a lake and lock them up or drown them that is too obvious. I must do it in public where someone else could be at fault. Where? Grr. This is so annoying. Why couldn't that bitch do it?" Sesshomaru seemed to be talking out loud to himself. Inuyasha didn't have any idea what he was talking about but he knew it involved his fiance and that didn't make him happy. Just as he was about to question Sesshomaru a loud shriek from his room signaled Kagome was in trouble.
"Kagome!" he ran into the bedroom to see Kagome sitting up laughing to herself. "What's going on? What happened?" he asked, generally concerned.
"The thunder scared me out of my wits. Gomen. Didn't mean to wake you." she stopped laughing and decided to go for an apologetic smile.
"It's okay. I was already awake. I thought you were dying or something." he hugged her closely. She didn't know why he was so worried, but she didn't care.
"Gomen." she didn't know what else to say.
§¤*~
"Nyoko, hey, glad you could come." Sesshomaru led Nyoko into his apartment and offered her tea.
"Nyoko," he said after a few moments of silence. "I need to talk to you about someone."
"What is wrong Sess?" she looked very concerned and Sess really loved how she was so sweet to everyone and always worried about every little thing.
"Kikyou . . . is back." he hadn't told her this before because he hadn't seen a need. It was never truly his concern. But now, it was. Now, it involved him doing things that he didn't want to do.
"Back? That is impossible."
"No, it isn't. She has a mission for me."
"What is it?" Nyoko didn't know if she bought into this.
"I don't know how to say this -"

"Inuyasha!" Kagome was getting angry. All day he had been following her around like she would disappear if he wasn't glued to her.
"Kagome!"he mocked her anger.
"Inuyasha!!!" she growled and Inuyasha laughed. In the past (the way past) he might have been scared of her, but she no longer had control on him.
"What? You can't control me." he stuck his tongue out at her and she growled again.
"OSUWARI!" Inuyasha crashed to the ground, causing the foundation to shake, but luckily nothing broke. Kagome smiled happily to herself and walked into the other room.
"WHAT?!" Inuyasha stood up. He didn't understand. Five hundred years and the rosary decided to still work? What a jip.
"What do you want for lunch baby?" Kagome smiled sweetly from the kitchen.
"You are such a -"
"Wonderful, magnificent, perfect, angelic girlfriend?" Kagome interrupted, batting her eyelashes dramatically.
"I was going for wench. But that works too." he kissed her forehead and sat on the counter.
They had been unpacking boxes all morning and the pair were very tired. It was nearing two in the afternoon and they were just able to clear enough space to make sandwiches. Though, the bathroom was entirely unpacked and the bedroom was coming along nicely. The only rooms that were really in a disarray were the living room and kitchen.
"Ya know, we'd be done by now if you didn't have so much shit." Inuyasha commented.
"Bite me" Kagome shot back.
"Love to." Inuyasha smiled lecherously.
"Perv." Kagome rolled her eyes.
"Bitch."
"Asshole."
"Slut."
"Bastard."
"Whore."
"Arrogant Baka."
"Wench."
"Jerk."
"I love you."
"I love you too." Inuyasha kissed Kagome and she smiled in return. "Do you want turkey or ham?"
"Turkey." Inuyasha answered. Kagome busied herself with preparing the food. The first thing that had been installed was a refrigerator so that they could at least eat in their new house. "We don't have any lettuce." Kagome noted. She was bent in front of the refrigerator, looking in the bottom drawers to make sure Inuyasha hadn't put it away and neglected to specify where.
"That's okay." he stood behind her, holding on to her hips. She jumped slightly, thinking he was still across the room.
"You just love scaring me don't you?" she asked.
"Hai, pretty much." he smiled devilishly.
He turned her around and kissed her, pouring all of his passion into the tantalizing action. Kagome barely had time to recover when Inuyasha had picked her up and laid her on the couch (which the movers placed carelessly in the front hallway). He kissed along her neck and she leaned back allowing him access. He threw his pants off and she rubbed against him, silently pleading with him. The day was warm and his shirt had already been discarded long before they even started unpacking. Kagome drew careless designs along his muscles as he fumbled with the button on her shorts.
"Hey guys, need help?" Kouga walked in through the front door, which was haphazardly left open. The couch was facing the stairs so Kouga couldn't see onto the couch. "Hello?" he called.
Kagome caught her breath first, very angry at the interruption, but pleasant just the same "Hey Kouga." she called from her position on the couch, trying desperately to button and zip her shorts. Inuyasha growled and sat up.
"Oh there you are." Kouga seemed oblivious. Then Kagome sat up and something inside him seemed to click. "Oh dang. Should I come back later?"
"It's a bit late for that." Inuyasha's voice was frustrated and Kouga smiled slightly. He hadn't meant to interrupt anything but since he did it was amusing.
"Gomen." he said.
"Don't worry about it Kouga. I was actually just going to make lunch. You want?" Kagome smiled sweetly.
"Sure." he replied.
"You can help Inuyasha arrange the living room while I make us some sandwiches." Kagome wiggled out from under Inuyasha, who was still straddling her. "Ham or turkey?"
"Turkey." Kagome smiled and began walking to the kitchen. She looked down to see Inuyasha's pants on the floor. She picked them up and tossed them to him, he caught them with one hand and she ducked into the kitchen.
"I'm really sorry man. I would have knocked but the door was open." Kouga was trying not to laugh at the situation. Inuyasha put his pants on and grumbled something about baka friends with bad timing.
"Well come on then, lets arrange the living room."
The rest of the afternoon went pretty well. Kagome put away most of the items while Kouga and Inuyasha arranged the different rooms. It also took the pair of them about two hours to put together a computer desk and the master bed. Nightfall was upon them and it was becoming cold. Kagome had thrown on a pair of pants and one of Inuyasha's sweaters that she found in one of the many boxes of his stuff. Inuyasha had also thrown on a sweater and the three (including Kouga) were sitting in the living room admiring what they had done.
"Did you guys want to go out for dinner?" Kagome asked.
"Sure. Mutt's treat?" Kouga asked.
"Hai." Kagome replied for Inuyasha.
"Hai, sure I'll pay guys. While we're at it why don't I just sell my soul to ya too?" Inuyasha sarcastically replied.
"Okay. Now is that a down payment, half now half later, or am I gonna get the whole thing at once?" Kagome smiled at the hanyou, she knew he wasn't really mad.
"Feh."

"Nyoko. I need your help. I don't know how to get rid of Kikyou without getting myself killed. I" for once in his life, Sesshomaru was at a loss for words.
"I'll help you Sesshomaru." Nyoko hugged him close to her, "Don't worry."
Somewhere during there conversation they had decided to go to dinner. Sesshomaru didn't know if he wanted to risk Nyoko's life by asking her to help, but it was either that or he knew she would die. (By his hand or Kikyou's). Nyoko pulled away but held his hands in hers. She smiled reassuringly and he felt much better about the situation.
Kagome, Inuyasha, and Kouga, sat next to the pair in the booth. There was a half wall, with decorative plants on it, separating the two tables. Neither party knew that the other party was there, until Inuyasha heard his brother's voice. He hushed Kouga, who was talking about how Ayume was pregnant and he was so excited.
"What is it mutt?"
"Shh." Inuyasha said impatiently.
"I can't kill her Nyoko. I don't know what to do. If only I weren't so attached to the Mutt and the Miko this would be so much easier. Oh but it would kill the Kit wouldn't it." Sesshomaru looked down at the table, trying to figure out something.
"Well you said she is going back to hell in three days right?" Sesshomaru nodded, but to the other party it was silence, "Well then wait it out."
"She is going to take me with her when she goes, unless I do this."
"Not if she can't find you." Nyoko smiled devilishly, but again Inuyasha's party couldn't see this. "I can help you. Trust me."
"I do trust you. Just please, help me kill Kikyou."
"Kikyou?!" Inuyasha stood up and looked over the wall that separated the table. He saw his brother holding hands with Nyoko. Inuyasha was rather dense and hadn't realized what they were talking about. Then the pieces began to click and he felt slightly awkward for standing up and prying into the conversation.
"Inuyasha?" Sesshomaru looked up to his brother. Then Kagome and Kouga peeked their heads over the wall.
"Hey guys." Kagome smiled sweetly. Kouga nodded.
"Hey." Nyoko said, "I don't think we've met. I'm Nyoko, you must be Inuyasha and the Miko. I'm sorry I don't know your name."
"Kagome," Kagome held her hand out.
"Lovely to meet you."
"You as well."
"Oh great, we're all friends." Inuyasha huffed. "What is going on?"
"Kikyou, well, she gave me my arm and -"
"Oh I meant to ask you about that Yash. Guess I forgot." Kagome interrupted.
Sesshomaru continued as though an interruption hadn't occurred, "she wants me to pay her back for it, with the lives of Nyoko and Kagome." he explained.
"You aren't taking my Kagome." Inuyasha said protectively.
"Duh." Sesshomaru rolled his eyes. "I asked Nyoko if she would help me to kill Kikyou, instead of me killing her."
"And of course I would love to help." Nyoko said brightly.
"You see? Nothing to worry about."
"So she'll finally go back to hell?" Kagome asked. Nyoko nodded and Sesshomaru decided to look slightly skeptical.
"You had the clam roll?" a waitress asked. Inuyasha turned around to see the waitress looking very confused, apparently she had been standing there for a while.
"Uh, he did." Inuyasha pointed to Kouga and looked back to his brother, "We'll talk later." he sat down and Kagome sat down too. (Besides it was awkward standing over him in a booth). Kouga had sat down already and began eating his food.
The waitress placed the rest of the food down and walked off, still looking confused.
End Flashback ~
Kagome lay in bed, thinking of the sounds outside the window. She couldn't help but be a little freaked out, not only was it the first time she had slept in the new house, but there was a thunderstorm that seemed to be sitting on top of her house. She looked over to the window to see Inuyasha pacing the floor. She knew he was worried about the plan for tomorrow, but there was no other way around it. Kikyou wouldn't be stopped. She decided to let him know she was awake, in case he wanted to talk. She sat up slowly, not wanting to leave the warmth of the bed.
Inuyasha looked over to see a silhouette and nearly jumped out of his skin. "Jesus Kagome! Don't do that!" he was panting slightly and walked over to sit on the bed.
"Gomen. I wanted to let you know I was awake, in case you wanted to talk." Kagome put her hand on top of his. He grasped her hand softly and kissed it.
"I'm just worried."
"I know. It's a risky plan but there seems to be no other way. In case" Kagome felt tears in her eyes and she tried not to cry, "In case you don't come back . . . I love you." she threw her arms around him and allowed herself to cry.
"It's okay Kagome. I'll come back. I love you so much." he hugged her back, letting her cry, though he hated that she did. Finally, after an hour or two, the storm seemed to dull into the background of the night and Kagome fell asleep in his arms. He laid her down and hugged her close to him. He wouldn't let her go, he wouldn't let this be the end. Not ever.

"Souta." Kikyou . . . Caryn . . . said from the door way. She had a suitcase in her hand and looked prepared to leave.
"Going somewhere Hun?" Souta asked.
"Yes." Caryn pretended to seem heartbroken, "I can no longer be with you. I have someone else I am in love with." Souta didn't know what to say, so he decided on looking thoroughly miserable. He had known Caryn for a while, what possessed her to all of a sudden not want to be with him.
"Caryn I-" he was cut of by Kikyou
"Souta, listen, do you remember when your grandfather died, and I met Inuyasha?" Souta nodded, "I fell in love with him" all over again "I can't be with out him." not anymore "So please, forgive me. Find someone who will love you back." With that Caryn opened the apartment door and disappeared out of sight.
Souta couldn't handle this. He thought Caryn was everything important in the world, she was the only girl who seemed to understand him and knew everything about him. He had never had many friends, and she was almost perfect. He had to follow her, persuade her somehow. Then, it hit him like a ton of bricks, she said she loved Inuyasha. But Kagome is with Inuyasha, she can't have him anyway. I have to stop her. I have to get her back. That is all that matters. To Tokyo!
§¤*~
Kagome woke up, feeling more tired than she did before she fell asleep. She didn't even remember falling asleep again, she only remembered crying because of Inuyasha and his impeccable stupidity and kindness. She didn't want today to be here, she didn't want the sun to shine through the window, because it was not sunny in her mind. However, the sun didn't shine through the window, the weather reflected her mood, and the rain still fell in determined drops. She looked to the clock, it was almost ten. She wanted to get up, to clean or unpack boxes, anything to get her mind off what was to come today. When she tried to move however, she got a strong arm around her waist and a low grunt from the hanyou sleeping next to her. She rolled over and decided that maybe sleeping in wouldn't be so bad. After all I might never wake up next to him again.
Inuyasha sensed her worry and didn't know how to calm her. What had to be done, had to be done. This was the only way. If there were another way, it would have been found by now. Inuyasha had to go along with the plan, he couldn't back down now, not when two lives were depending on him. One being the most important life in the world. Kagomes. He felt anger welling inside him at Kikyou. How dare she try and take him back. Was she that severely unbalanced when he was 'in love' with her? If she was, he didn't know how he didn't see it. Maybe being dead does things to you. He reasoned. I should have known something was wrong with her when she wanted me to be a human. Sure demons weren't 'acceptable' but Kagome never cared. She would have loved me for what I was. Not just for my human - Inuyasha sat up sharply, something having dawned on him, Oh damn. I'm going to be human tonight. That isn't good.

"Shippo." Chizzabella whined with a playful smile.
"Chizzy." Shippo kissed her softly.
He had no idea that in his adopted father's new house, he was worrying about a plan to take down Kikyou, that could go terribly awry. He didn't know that Sesshomaru was sitting up in the living room with Nyoko, working out the finer details of said plan. He didn't know that Kagome was crying herself to sleep, worrying about her mates safety while he was playing with his girlfriend. No one had told him any of this, thinking it better to keep him out of these horrible matters.
The wind shifted and he sensed something was wrong. He knew that there was something he was missing. He sat up from the bed and looked around the darkened room.
"What's wrong?" Chizzabella asked.
Shippo was quiet for a moment before he spoke, "The air is wrong. Something bad is going to happen. I have to get to Kagome." he grabbed his clothes off the floor, throwing them carelessly on, and ran out of Chizzabella's apartment.
"Kagome!?" she questioned. But he was gone.
§¤*~ Longest A/N in history ^-^
I decided to do this chapter, for the most part, in flashback form, I don't know why, it just worked for me. I originally hadn't planned to do it that way but I got to the part of the second thunderstorm and just thought, 'hey that should have been a flashback and now he can be pacing and thinking about it.' so that is what I did. Hope it wasn't annoying (sometimes flashbacks can be. Especially when I write them ^_~)
Also, I decided to explain what happened between Souta and Kikyou so that everyone knows what happened! ~_~ Also, I wanted to explain where Shippo was because he should know about these things. He basically is always with Chizzabella. That is all for now ^_^
Another quick - kind of important - note. My dates might not line up *nervous giggle* we are going to smile and nod and pretend I'm not a moron okay? *collective group nod* good! ^-^
Ahh, another chapter. Not really long I know. But what can I say, I've been trying. I think the next chapter might be the last (Do you want an epilogue?)*Tears* I love this story. I love Drug Lords more, but this one is fun. I definitely like it more than Cabin. Man that story sucked. Haha, yes I hated that story, it didn't turn out right at all. I have to fix that, but I'm lazy. Maybe this summer, which is in like two weeks *EXTREMELY HAPPY, HAPPY DANCE* he he! Although I have to go to work then. Waiting tables for snooty tourists. FUN *sarcasm* *sigh* though we do get some hot British boys every now and again. I love the British! ^_^ I never realized how much I could blab until I started reading my authors notes.
Oh guess what? I'm 17! Yay, my birthday was the 25th. Isn't that exciting. I know it took me a while to get this chapter up since the 25th was like two weeks ago. *sigh* I was going to tell you all in my last A/N in chapter 19 but I blabbed enough in that one, don't you think? I do! Haha! Oh yes update to Les Miserables I am in ^-^ only as a chorus member, but at least I don't have to sing a solo *shudder* ^_^ and Julia is Eponine. . . yay
Any who. I love you guys and once again thanks for reading my stories! Oh yeah and I don't own Kagome, Kouga, Sess, Shippo, Souta, Kikyou, but I do own Inuyasha! mwahaha! Well, in my mind I do *innocent giggle* okay bye for now! ~Anubis~

To Tokyo!

~Anubis~
