InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Story of Two Sisters ❯ Family ( Chapter 1 )

The sounds of two swords clashing rang out under a mid day sun. A beautiful panther demon girl stood at one end of the training arena. Her long black hair whip behind her in the wind, as her green eyes focused on her opponent on the other end of the ring. She pushed back the black panther pelt that covered her shoulders. She was dressed in a very tight low cut black top trimmed in brown. She also wore a short black skirt made with chain mail that left very little to the imagination. And upon her head she wore a silver crown with the crest of her people engraved in the center of it.
Her opponent, still reeling from the last blow, was pulling herself back up off the ground. Her deep blue eyes peered ruthlessly from under her dark brown almost black hair with two distinguishing red streaks along her face towards the woman standing proudly before her. `Today is the day I put this bitch in her place!' She thought as anger burned through her veins. She repositioned herself in battle stance and yelled, “What are you waiting for?!”
The black haired woman ran at full speed raising her sword into the air. She jumped up and came down hard with her sword. As the other girl leapt to the side and came up from behind thrusting her sword forward to impale her opponent. The black headed girl in turn spun herself around blocking the attack. She brought her sword back up and began ferociously swinging again and again until she got the better of the girl with red streaks in her hair. With the hilt of her sword tightly clinched in her fist she delivered a punch to her stomach and then used her elbow to deliver a blow to her chin. The attack sent the girl to the ground and she slid back several feet. She struggled to an upright sitting position on the ground trying to catch her breathe holding back stinging tears from the pain.
A tall dark haired man had been watching from a balcony above them. “Elandra that is enough for today.” He said sternly.
The black headed girl looked up and replied, “Yes father.” She looked down at the younger girl and reached out her hand. “Here little sister let me help you.”
“I don't need your help.” She hissed as she rose to her feet pushing her older sister's hand aside.
“Akira I was just trying to help.” Elandra scolded her.
Akira returned her sword to its sheath at her side as she walked away from her older sister. She was disappointed in her self once again for letting her older sister get the better of her. She always won. While she was walking and still stewing with anger she failed to notice her father approaching her.
As he approached his youngest daughter he placed his hand on her shoulder. “You shouldn't be so angry with her.” He said in a calm voice.
“I know father. But I feel like I should be her equal in battle, not the lesser opponent.” She replied as she stopped walking and sat on a bench in the long hall.
He sat down beside her. “You are her equal. But you have a while before you reach your potential in battle. Keep in mind that she is older than you and has been practicing decades longer than you.”
“I know this speech well father. You have given it to me time and time again. Because she is my older sister she has had more practice. And she will one day take your place as leader of the black panther clan.” Akira said releasing a sigh. “But father...”
“What is that kitten?” he said playfully. Kitten had been a nick name for her that her mother gave her before she died.
“Sometimes I think the reason she is stronger than me is because she is a full demon and I am not.” she asked looking up at her father.
He peered back into her eyes, “Whether or not you are a full demon is irrelevant. Your strength, your power will come from inside you. Your skill as a warrior will be determined by you and nothing else.”
Akira stared at the stone floor for a moment in doubt of her father's words. Before she could say anything else their conversation was cut short as a voice rang out from down the hallway,
“Master Pansa!” a male voice called before he could answer. A tall slender dark haired man was walking quickly towards them. It was Shimamoyo, the advisor.
“Yes Shimamoyo, what is it?” he replied.
“You have a visitor.” He answered.
“Tell them to wait in the thrown room.” Pansa ordered.
“But master I think it is someone you will want to see now.” Shimamoyo said with a worried look.
Pansa returned his eyes to his daughter, “We will continue this discussion later.”
He rose from his seat as Akira watched her father and his advisor walk toward the thrown room.
Akira had gotten use to her fathers' short lived conversation. He was always so busy. Her sister came walking proudly down the hallway. She glanced at her father leaving with the advisor.
“What is that all about?” she asked her younger sister.
“I don't know.” Akira shrugged. “Someone's here to see father.”
“Ahh, I bet it's got something to do with the treaty.” Elandra replied.
“Treaty?” Akira looked confused.
“Father had been working on a treaty with the rival tiger clan from the western island. He's not going to be around forever you know. He just wants to make sure everything is taken care of before his time is over.” Elandra said looking down at her sister.
“Why? Our warriors could take their out any day!” Akira replied. “Those high and mighty, over confident bastards.” Akira clinched her fist.
Elandra understood her sister's anger, though she did not agree with it. Rumor had it that her mother met her end because the leader of the tiger clan wanted her for himself, but her heart belonged to Akira's father.
“Akira you shouldn't hold on to that forever. After all it's just a rumor; no one really knows who was responsible for your mother's death.” Elandra said. “Come on let's prepare for the hunt tomorrow.”
