Over the next several days Akira stood by her older sister's side and help her manage the affairs concerning their land. Shimamoyo of coarse was there to offer his assistance to the two sisters as well. Although the death of their father plagued their minds often neither of them ever spoke of it. It took several weeks before a since of normalcy came to be for the sisters.
A tall white haired man entered the thrown room with no announcement from the guards. He walked arrogantly to stand before the sisters. He was dressed in fine silk and wore a golden crown upon his head. His brown eyes were cold and almost seemed black. Both sisters could sense he was a very old and very powerful demon. He looked familiar to Elandra, though she could not place his name at first.
“This is Lord Taiga, emperor of the tiger clan from the western isle.” Shimamoyo spoke clearly.
Akira narrowed her eyes at the man in a look that could have burned a hole right through him Elandra rose to her feet and bowed to the man. “And to what do we owe this honor?”
“I am here to revise the agreement of the treaty between our land and yours. Since the unfortunate death of your father, I feel we should rework them.” Taiga spoke in a deep voice.
“Hai.” Elandra said. “Shimamoyo will you retrieve that scroll for me.”
Shimamoyo was already digging through stacks of papers on his desk. “Here it is.” He said as he carried it over to her.
Akira rose from her chair and left the room. She was not going to have anything to do with these treaties. It would be all the same for her if they wiped their race off the earth. Taiga watched the younger sister as she left an evil grin upon his lips. `Once she discovers her roll in this treaty, she won't be so hasty.' He thought to himself.
After several hours of wondering through the mansion Akira figured the old man would probably be gone by now. She walked softly back into the thrown room to try and keep her presence hidden incase he was still there. As she peered around the doorway she heard his voice.
“Your father had already agreed to this and I will not change this arrangement.” He said sternly. “It is the only way to insure peace between the clans.”
“My sister will never let this happen.” Elandra argued. “She will never marry your son.”
Akira's heart dropped to her feet. `My father betroved me to the prince of the tiger clan?!'
“This was one of the most important articles of the treaty. If you refuse then the treaty is forfeit!” The older man warned her.
The panther clan was not a weak clan, but Elandra's father had taught her that war was always a last resort. There was no need to put the lives of thousands of humans and demons on the line all to save her sister from doing something that would make her unhappy. After all her sister would remain royalty and she would be a leader among their people.
“Please give me time to talk it over with my sister.” Elandra bargained.
“I will give you three days. If you send word that your sister will not wed my son, be prepared for a war unlike any you have ever seen.” He warned the elder sister. He turned and angrily stormed from the mansion and set out to return to his home land.
“Akira you can come out now. He is gone.” Elandra said sitting back down in her thrown.
“What are you going to tell him?” She asked her older sister.
Elandra dazed off for a moment and replied without looking at her sister. “I have to do what is best for our people.”
“You cannot ask this of me.” Akira argued.
“Akira…” her sister turned to her. “I cannot go to war over such a matter. The treaty has already been agreed to by our father. If I break this agreement then hundreds of our people will die and we are all still reeling from our loss.”
Akira dropped her head and stared at the floor. Here her sister was asking her to spend the rest of her life with the same demon clan who was responsible for the death of her mother. But she did not want the panther clan to go to war no more than her Elandra did.
Later that night after everyone had went to bed Akira stayed awake sitting at a table in her chamber and wrote her sister a letter by candle light.

My Dearest Sister,
I cannot do what you ask of me. If they seek out vengeance for the action I am taking when I finish this letter inform their leader I take full responsibility and not to hold it against my people. If they come after me they will have only a dead body to return to their prince. You have been my sister, my best friend, and the closest thing to a mother I will ever know. I love you for that and I thank you for it. Please forgive me,
Your sister,
Akira
She left the note on her pillow and began creeping through the mansion until she finally came to the exterior wall. She took one last look back at the window to her sisters' room and then in a great leap, jumped over the wall. As fast as her legs could carrier her she ran through the forest of the island until she reached the bay. Here she snuck into the cargo hold of the out going ships. She didn't care where it would take her as long as it was far from here.
