Chapter 9

The Costume Ball Part 2

"What are your intentions towards my daughter....?" Mrs. Higurashi asks him, with a gentle smile. Nervous and stuttering, because he had never really had to deal with someone as forthright, he tries his best to answer.

"To love her...."

Satisfied to a degree, she is about to ask something else, when Kagome, comes up behind him and saves him from her.

"Hi Momma.....Inuyasha." She smiles as her arms snake around his waist. "I want him to listen to something that the DJ agreed to play shortly Momma."

"All right...Inuyasha we are still not finished talking..." Mrs. Higurashi replies looking at the hanyou, who gulps visibly.

"Yes Mrs." Inuyasha starts to reply but is cut off as she stops him.

"Call me Momma." The elder woman replies. She in turn continues to watch as Kagome, steps out onto the dance floor, pulling the hanyou behind her and starts teaching Inuyasha some basic steps. Laughing a little bit at first, a couple of Kagome's friends and their dates approach the young couple. They work together to teach the hanyou some basic moves in dancing. After about twenty minutes, Inuyasha is soon moving like he has done it all his life.

Another of the chaperones approach and look at the young couple amongst the teenagers...

"Stange..."

"What is Mr. Takashi?"

"Your daughter and that boy...an angel and a demon costume?"

"Well why not...it suits them both. Complete opposites they are, but at the same time they are so much alike..." She replies. Meanwhile Mr. Takashi just stares, for every so often costume or not, he swears, the ears twitch as if they were real....in the meantime, he catches another couple getting a little to friendly out of the corner of his eye.

"All right knock it off you to...this is a place to bring children not to conceive them!"

In the meantime, the DJ finishes the set and looking toward the young woman in white, he plays the song that she wanted the young man with her to here.

"Inuyasha...."

"Hmmm?" He looks at her and smiles, as she lifts up and kisses him softly.

"Dance and listen..." She says with the hint of a smile and the music begins to play.

Couldn't look me in the eye

He apologizes

He didn't make enough to take me out tonight

"Kagome?" He whispers as they move to the music. Her body pressed against his. Looking up into his confused amber eyes, she smiles softly as she places a finger to his lips, to which he can't help but nip a little.

"Just listen..."

I beg him not to worry

I don't need a world of riches

Hearing the words, of the song as he looks down upon the young woman in his arms, he holds her tight. Somehow she knew that is one thing that he feared. Looking towards the woman, who was her mother, he nods to her and looks at Kagome with a passion. Seemingly she understands....

Looking at her gentle gaze, and the eyes filled with warmth, he understands her a little bit more now. She truly doesn't care that he is a hanyou. She likes him for himself. Pressing his lips down upon hers as she lifts up to meet him, he kisses her with such passion, that the parents start heading toward them to break it up.

Yuka, Eri, and Ayume along with their dates, move fast to intercept for the fact that their friend has found someone who loves her as much as they do...they will happily run interference to give them more time together.

His lips are pure emotion

He smiles because he knows

Looking at him, her eyes half lidded with need and desire, he moves her down in a slow dip and then back up. Her classmates are giving them a wide berth as they simply watch the beauty of the perfectly matched couple. The girls are looking at their boyfriends with questions of why. For as the men look on in envy, and not because of Kagome, but because of Inuyasha's animalistic grace, that they are trying so hard to achieve, for their girls, they begin to study as so they can try and imitate.

He answers all my wishes

Looking at her with more than just love in his eyes, Inuyasha watches as Kagome comes closer to his body. He feels the stirrings of arousal and she brushes against his body with her own. Holding her around her waist tight, he turns as he lifts her up and her legs go around his waist. The wings starting to flutter as somehow a wind appears, and she appears to fly into his arms, in the eyes of many. The chaperones stop and watch as Mrs. Higurashi smiles.

"On second thought, Inuyasha I believe your love is all Kagome asks for...."

"Aren't they beautiful together?" Yuka whispers to Eri, who nods her head. They watch as their friend and her boyfriend, move, each one seemingly contradicting yet remaining in harmony. Her kind gentle passion, and his animalistic need, blending as their hearts and souls seem to merge in front of everyone.

His strength and her delicacy, are so obvious and yet devious. The three girls remember, those times that the two fought, that is from Kagome's viewpoint, and they see that even though he seems arrogant and rude, whenever Kagome is there....he is.....he is perfection.

He heals me, he touches me down to my soul

My hearts beating out of control

I just need a little time with you

"Time is all you need, my Kagome..." Inuyasha whispers huskily, as they move. Oblivious to those who watch their dance, Kagome looks up into his amber eyes.

"Yes...Time to love and to be loved by you..."

"Eternity...."

Kagome smiles softly and presses her lips to his in a kiss, that is long and deep. Their hearts and souls merging becoming one....

The song nearing its end, they other students, hold on to one another and watch he twirls her out, but brings her back to him. Picking her up one last time, this time her hands upon his shoulders as her feet dangle, she reaches for the stars. Then as if by magic, a star shoots over the sky sending sparkles of crystal over the party with its warm light.

"For you Inuyasha...for you....make a wish...."

As the last note plays, Inuyasha closes his eyes, and smiles.

"Well what did you wish for?"

"He can't tell you honey...." Mrs. Higurashi says as she approaches.

"You can't?" Kagome asks him as she turns to look. He shakes his head and smiles.

"No...for then it wouldn't come true..."

Frowning a little bit, he whispers something in her ear that causes her to shiver not only in pleasure, but in embarrassment.

"Stop that..."

"Why...."

"MY mother is watching us...."

"No she isn't...." He replies as his arms snakes around and he starts to nuzzle her neck. Gently guiding her without her realizing it, into the shadows as the dance resumes, she can't help, but respond to his touch.

"Here Inuyasha?"

"No one's watching...." He chuckles...his eyes telling a different story as he gazes at her with need and desire.

"But!"

Claiming her lips in a demanding kiss, all other thoughts go out the window as the shadows softly cover them from prying eyes.
