~Chapter 1~

~Mystery Woman~

He ran through the forest. He was a flash of sapphire and silver. Nothing but a blur as he moved effortlessly through the trees. Hanyous had skills such as these. To move through the forest nothing more than dash of color. He suddenly paused and seemed to stop as if he was listening, smelling. His dog-like ears perched atop his head twisted like radars straining for a sound. He could be heard sniffing for a strange odor, something that was foreign to him. He was a creature of beauty and majesty. His silver hair reached down to his waist and contrasted so vibrantly against his blue haori and hakama. He was searching, seeking something out when a much more familiar, and unwanted scent accosted him.

"Whatcha huntin' for Hayashi?" asked the tall, dark haired boy who emerged from behind the trees.

"Ain't none of your damn business Megumi. I'm tracking something now leave me alone about it." Hayashi replied, annoyed his hunting was being interrupted by his best friend.

"Why are ya getting so defensive about it. Normally I have to ask you a few more questions before you sound so irritated."

"Keh! I just don't know what it is yet."

"It?" asked Megumi curiously.

Hayashi made the face that typically meant he would be releasing no further information. "Fine have it your way, I need to get back and train some more before Mom skins me alive," and with a shrug and a wave Megumi returned the way he came from.

Shit thought Hayashi, I lost the scent. I may as well follow Megumi home, especially if he wasn't supposed to have left, Aunt Sango really will skin him alive. With that, Hayashi bound through the woods after Megumi.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Megumi was training to be a youkai exterminator, just like his mother Sango had been. After the final battle with Naraku, Sango kept her younger brother Kohaku's armor to give to her first born son. Megumi now wore his uncle's armor with pride and trained with his siblings everyday on the art of extermination. He was even of age now and sometimes went with his father to help. However, when he had seen his best friend who was a brother to him take off like the hounds of hell were after him, his curiousity got the better of him. He wasn't stupid. He knew something was going on that his parents and his aunt and uncle weren't talking to him about. He just didn't know what. All he did know is that something was coming and everyone had been on edge about it for a week or so now. That's why when Hayashi had taken off like that he wondered if he had discovered what the ominous "it" was and followed. Now his feet lead him back to the village that his parents and their companions had started. He lived with his mother and father, Sango and Miroku and his four other siblings in one hut while Kagome, the "miko of legend" and Inuyasha, protector of the forest, lived in another. Shippou, the little kitsune that grew up, lived with his mate Rin in the third hut that made up the "village."
Whew, that was close, thought Megumi, Mom's nowhere to be found. I still want to know what it was the Hayashi smelled. There is something freaking everyone out around here and I'm gonna get to the bottom of it.
"MEGUMI!!! Where have you been?"
Megumi winced. The voice of his sister carried over to him again. "Ya wanna come train with us?" He looked over to where he could see his sister Aiko and his two younger brothers, Ranmataru and Houko training in their exterminator gear.
"No thanks. Hey Aiko, where's Mom and Dad at?"
"Over at Aunt Kagome's and Uncle Yasha's, they went over there right after lunch and took Ritome with them," she shouted back at him and went back to training.
He shuddered, Ritome was his youngest sister. She was a terror from the way everyone in their little village spoiled her. Not only was she the baby of the mishmashed family but she had to be a girl at that. Aiko was ok, atleast she could hold her own when they all sparred. Her and Hiraikotsu were like one entity. But Ritomi was spoiled as hell and could get away with anything and knew it at the young age of 6.
He decided he may as well go over and see his parents. Maybe he could eavesdrop and pick up some new information. Kagome was always having some new "feeling" about the great threat that could end life as they all knew it. She was always going on about how the she could feel something coming in the wind but was never able to identify it. But she seemed worried, and when she was worried, so was everyone else. Which is probably why he and the rest of the kids picked up on the problem. They couldn't remember a time when Kagome seemed upset or unhappy about anything. Even when she was angry with Inuyasha she was more funny to onlookers than anything else.
Maybe he could listen in under pretences of hanging out with Hayashi and Ryoku, the younger hanyou brother, and decided to walk over there. What his piercing violet eyes saw took him completely off guard. Everyone was standing outside of Kagome and Inuyasha's hut and staring into the forest. That was when Megumi felt the chill and the strange gust of wind that had brought it here. It didn't feel evil and he sensed no youki coming from the direction of the forest, it just felt like...emptiness. Like a great huge void was descending upon them. He saw Inuyasha there standing defensively in front of his mate, all alert with a slight growl coming from his throat and Tetsusaiga drawn. Kagome appeared to be feeling out the area, trying to discern the source of this bizarre wind. He saw his mother and father there clutching Ritome standing back beside Inuyasha and Kagome; he could tell from the concentrated look on their faces that they too were trying to find the source. Ryoku was there standing beside Shippou who had Rin shielded from the forest as well. Megumi didn't understand what was going on. What was coming their way?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hayashi was once again whizzing through the forest. He loved the feel of wind whipping through his hair. But where had the damn scent gone? It wasn't like anything he's ever tracked before. It smelled human enough, female enough...but something just wasn't right about it. It was like this mystery woman was only half there. But that's not possible. Well whoever she was, she smelled awfully good to me. Why did I want to go meet her so bad? Besides what was I gonna say, 'Hello there I smelled you on my way through the forest and decided to drop down and say hi?' Sounds almost as bad as one of Megumi's pickup lines. Keh! What's wrong with me though? And after Megumi had to stop me, where did she go? She couldn't have just disappeared in thin air could she? Too many fuckin' questions. Hayashi quickly jumped into the branches of Goshinboku to make an attempt to figure out what the hell his problem was. He was just starting to doze off when he heard an angel sing...

"Win dain a lotica

En val tu ri

Si lo ta

Fin dein a loluca

En dragu a sei lain

Vi fa-ru les shutai am

En riga-lint"

It was the most beautiful voice he had ever heard. Was this the maiden he was tracking in the woods? Oh how enchanting her voice was. She was walking towards him as a creature of beauty and majesty, causing his senses to light up like no one had ever been able to, she was an angel, a beam of light, and he could smell her and the scent of heavenly flowers and he could smell that she...WANTED him. The scent of her arousal hit him hard as she moved gracefully towards him, was so close now he could feel her breath and she lifted her face; he could see her luscious full lips move up to touch his and...

"OOF!! Dammitsonofafuckingbitch!" Hayashi rubbed his bruised bottom and his bruised pride and picked himself up off the forest floor underneath the tree that HAD been his perch. He scowled darkly up at the tree that had OBVIOUSLY kicked him out. He was half-youkai, like he would ever fall out of a tree. "Keh!" He said to no one in particular. Of course no one else was there to laugh at him. Or so he thought.

"Win dain a lotica

En val tu ri

Si lo ta

Fin dein a loluca

En dragu a sei lain

Vi fa-ru les shutai am

En riga-lint"

He turned around sharply. The singing hadn't been just a dream! He strained every sense he possessed, readied every fiber of his being to leap after the goddess who was singing this beautiful song. His glorious maiden did exist! Now he just had to find her.

"Win chent a lotica

En val turi

Silota

Fin dein a loluca

Si katigura neuver

Floreria for chesti

Si entina"

But something was funny, he could hear her singing, but where was she? He couldn't see her...couldn't smell her right now. All he could do was hear her, and the sound of her voice seemed to come from the clearing in the forest that he and his family lived. He pushed hard off the ground and tore through the trees becoming once more the blur of sapphire and silver. His hair was like a banner behind him and his sleeves whipped in the wind. He ran as fast as he could dodging the branches of the trees. He could see the light breaking through the trees. The clearing was coming and he was finally going to find the source of this incredible voice. With his amazing youkai ability he stopped suddenly when he saw his father and the rest of the people he called family look like they were prepared for a battle and they were on the defence. Hayashi didn't understand, SHE was coming, she wasn't going to attack them, why did his father have Tetsusaiga drawn? Why was he growling like that? Why was his Aunt Sango and Uncle Miroku looking so afraid? Then he stopped caring. He heard her voice as she continued her song in a language he didn't understand nor did he care to.

"Lalala

Fontina Blu Cent

De cravi esca letisimo

Lalala

De quantian

La finde reve"

He looked down the path through the woods that lead to the neighboring village, he could smell her heavenly scent now, oh how enchanting it was. He didn't care that he looked ridiculously blissful in time of a so-called crisis. He didn't care that his father was glaring at him or his mother was staring at him like he had some kind of problem. He didn't even care that his younger brother Ryoku was looking at him like he was disgusting for the trail of drool that was coming out of his mouth. He didn't have to think right now. All that mattered was that she came. Everyone except Hayashi tensed up as they saw a figure, a shadow walking along the path in the forest.

"En vai tu ri

Si lo ta

Fin dein a loluca

En dragu a sei lain

Vi fa-ru les shutai am

En riga-lint

Win dain a lotica"

She sang as she walked, coming closer and closer to the clearing and the people that looked like they would rip off her head as soon as she emerged. A few more steps, and she walked out into the light.
