When the Wing Goddess had turned around and disappeared into the mist of the forest, Hayashi was determined to find her and talk to her. He wanted so badly to solve the mystery of this woman who had captivated his senses so. She was just a little bit ahead of him and he knew he could catch up to her quickly with his youkai abilities. He saw her walking down the path in the fog. She must have sensed him because she turned and looked directly at him. He dropped down from the tree he had been flying through and into the clearing. His breath caught in his throat as she looked directly at him. He stared at her. 'She's different from before. What's wrong with her, she looks so sad now,' he thought.
He looked up suddenly as he smelled a foreign scent. It wasn't another youkai, but he didn't quite know what it was. It smelled like the first time he had smelled his maiden, but this didn't have the intoxicating lavender feminism to it.
His hair whipped out behind him as the wind picked up suddenly, like a storm was moving in. He continued to gaze at her, now sure that sadness was filling her eyes instead of the intense emptiness. The wind continued to gust and then, she was gone. Even as he watched her disappear he heard her distressed sigh caressing him like a farewell from the girl he didn't even know yet.
Night had fallen upon the little village that our past heroes had made for themselves. It may have been dark inside the huts, but it was not dark in the minds of the people inside. Everyone laid in their futons, worrying, waiting, and wondering what tomorrow was going to bring. And no one was exactly sure how they felt about it either. Some tossed and turned, trying to put their minds at ease until the morn and to get sleep while they could, while others clutched those who lay beside them just a little bit tighter. They all struggled for find peace for their racing thoughts.
But of all those having trouble the sleep, the one with the most problems was undoubtedly Kagome.
'I'm so afraid to get my hopes up,' thought Kagome, 'But I do want to see Mama again. Its been so long. I want to see the shrine, and how grown up Sota is. I want to show them my family and finally let them to meet Sango, Miroku, and their kids. Even little Shippo is all grown up with a mate and a kit on the way.' She sighed. She rolled over. She felt her heart racing. The suspence was unbearable. She didn't want to wait anymore. She didn't want to lay there and keep questioning the possibility of seeing her family and the possibility of being let down. But finally, for all of them slept came, though they received very little of it.
Inuyasha awoke while it was still dark outside. He could almost smell the sunrise and figured it was about an hour away. "Oi wench! Get up!" He shook Kagome.
"What time is it?!" She shot out of bed like he had electrocuted her. Panic began to creep in her voice, "What time is it Inuyasha?! You are such a baka, why didn't you wake me up earlier?" She took off into the kitchen area of the hut and from the sound of it, was starting a fire and some breakfast.
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. He knew that he was gonna lose one way or the other today. 'Damned if I do, damned if I don't.'
He stood up off the futon and pulled on his fire-rat haori and tucked it into his hakama. He grabbed Tetsusaiga from its resting place up against the wall and stuck it into the sash at his waist. If he had to see that hollow bitch today he was gonna be prepared. He didn't trust her, he didn't have a reason to one way or the other yet, but he figured he should go with his gut and say something wasn't right about her. This so called "Wing Goddess" gave him just as many creeps as the dead Kikyou gave Kagura.
"BOYS GET UP! FOR THE LAST TIME GET YOUR BUTTS OUT HERE!!!!!!" Inuyasha winced and lay his ears flat against his head. What a morning this was gonna be.
He walked into the kitchen just as Kagome was walking into the room that the hanyou brothers shared. He thanked Kami that the glint he saw in her eyes wasn't directed towards him for once.
"I SAID UP! UP UP UP!!!!" Kagome grabbed the blankets off both her sons bodies. Neither of them moved. 'Of course, my sons take after Inuyasha in EVERY SINGLE way possible, but when it comes to trying to wake them up, they are like me.' "I swear boys that if you do not get up now I will make each of you a kotodama necklace like your father's and let Ritome pick the word of subjugation!"
The boys ears were definitely twitching at this point. "I mean it! I'm sure Ritome would LOVE to walk around making dog-eared craters out of both of you!" threatened Kagome.
"Geeze Mom, its not even sunrise and you are already threatening Ritome on us?" grumbled the ruffled looking Ryoku.
He and the half-conscious looking Hayashi got up and got dressed. They met their disgruntled looking father in the kitchen who handed each of them a bowl of breakfast.
While the boys all ate Kagome sat chewing on her tongue, tapping her foot and sighing. HEAVILY sighing. She left the room and came back. Left the room and came back.
"MOM!" two voices shouted.
"WHAT?" she yelled back.
"Calm down Kagome," Inuyasha requested.
She sat back down and started tapping her foot. The boys all glanced at each other.
There was a pause, followed by three very heavy, highly stressed sighs.
Inuyasha and the boys headed outside to see everyone else around outside and waiting on them. "C'mon Kagome! Everyone's already here!"
"I know dog-boy." She snapped at him as she walked past. Inuyasha sighed, this whole "gift" was really playing on his and Kagome's nerves. And he didn't like it.
He walked up to his mate and tried to touch her elbow to get her attention. "What?" she snapped at him again.
"I hope this works," he whispered to her. The look on her face softened as his few words said so much to her. "I hope so too," she replied.
The tension of the group was mounting as the well and Sora came into few. She again had that hollow look on her face.
Megumi muttered to his best friend, "I hope this works."
Hayashi gave a glance at his mother and the optimistic look on her face. "I hope so too."
Kagome walked to up to Sora, who was holding a wooden staff in her hand with a silver crescent moon on top and a blue jewel, the size of the Shikon no Tama resting on it.
Inuyasha working very hard not to growl as his mate approached the dead looking girl.
"Hello Kagome," The hollow voice said, "I am prepared to open the well for you when the sun's rays meet it. You have until sundown or you may choose to stay in that time but you will never be able to return here again. I have for you this necklace, to remind you to return. You will feel it vibrate when I call to you." Sora handed her a silver necklace with a huge diamond flower. It was ornately crafted with what looked like wings behind the flower.
Kagome just nodded to her. "Please said back everyone," the Wing Goddess requested.
"Time to find out," muttered Megumi to Hayashi. When he got no reply he looked over at the older hanyou brother and saw that his friend was apparently in a trance. The kind only the presence of a woman can summon. His jaw was slack and his eyes glazed over. Megumi rolled his eyes.
His friend snapped to, "Huh? What?"
Megumi never got a chance to reply, the sun was rising and Sora had raised her arms and begun to sing her song once more. Everyone could feel the power radiating off of her.

From the well, there was a soft pink light.
