“How long have you been watching?” he asked, after stopping the head banging and taking some deep breaths to calm himself.

“Since the “why do you tease this Sesshoumaru” part,” Hizumeha said with a smile on his face.

“Oh god.”

“Why her, brother?” InuYasha growled, unhappy that he was sleeping with the enemy. “Of all the lovers to have in the world, you pick her?”

“She picked me actually.” He took his hand from her mouth and she sat up, fixing her kimono over her and pulling her hair back over her ears. He sat up too, deciding to make the best of the situation. He pulled her into his arm protectively. “I have no complaints.”

“No. I'd say not,” the umayoukai said, taking a few steps in a circle and rubbing his face. “She's certainly attractive.”

“She's Naraku's pawn.” InuYasha said, tapping his foot impatiently, clearly unhappy with the situation. “Don't you think that is pretty stupid?”

“Well, no.” Sesshoumaru said, pulling her face into a kiss as she started crying. “She has warned me on several occasions about Naraku's plans. She is my counter spy.” With a single finger he hushed her lips and gave her the look of “let me handle this.”

“Oh I see...so you are fucking the enemy so you can figure out where Naruku is,” the horse demon said, still pacing in circles.

“Leave us now,” Sesshoumaru commanded, pulling her back into his body so that her head rested on his shoulder. “Surely you are satisfied.”

Hizumeha shrugged and walked off back to the camp, but InuYasha stayed. “I'm not satisfied. This makes no sense. You don't need her. Get rid of her. Kill her.”

“Brother. Do not pass judgment on my decisions. We shall talk of this later.”

InuYasha drew his sword and laid it to the back of her neck. “We will talk of this now. She is the enemy.”

Sesshoumaru sighed. Hizumeha was outside of hearing range now and he might as well explain it to his brother. Fighting him sword to sword wouldn't solve anything now and the boy needed some sort of truth to be satisfied. “The moment we kill Naraku, she will die with him. Killing her now only gives her the peace she wants. You would be doing her a favor.” The hanyou pursed his lips and looked at him with a scowl. “Don't you understand? She wants to die. Remove your sword.”

InuYasha sheathed his sword and sat down not far from them. He watched Kagura relax and nestle deeper into his brother's arm while he drew his legs up to cross them under her and hold her almost like a child. They were a strange sight. Nothing like him and his wife together. He coddled Kagura where as Akanesuji he sparred with. He was not as happy, his face more sad and melancholy. Obviously he cared for the thing in his arms and would regret her passing. He waited for him to explain some more.

Sesshoumaru began rubbing her head as he spoke. “Kagura is my lover. This is true. I know she hasn't long for this world as compared to you and I and I wish to make her last days happy. Is there something wrong with that?”

“I guess not.” he acquiesced.

“She could never be my second wife, though the thought has crossed my mind. I have yet to figure out a way to free her from Naraku.”

Kagura bolted up at these words, looking Sesshoumaru's face over. He would not look at her, but she kissed his cheek anyway. Those words meant more to her than any ever spoken. She held him tight.

“Tomorrow, I will have to bring her to unconsciousness and leave her and it kills me to do it. Naraku will be watching her battle us in Kanna's mirror. How do you think I feel having to do this, InuYasha?”

He did not answer.

“And when she finds some way to drag herself back home, Naraku will rape her with his greasy black tentacles. How do you think I feel knowing this, brother?”

The hanyou still would say anything. He only closed his eyes and bowed his head.

“And when she is ordered once again to come kill me, this whole process will repeat itself. Do you not think I have wanted to kill her myself and put her out of this misery?”

“I am sorry,” the hanyou said, pulling his chin to his chest, his bangs covering his face. “I do not envy you.”

Kagura started to cry softly into Sesshoumaru's chest and he looked up at the sky to judge the time. “Soon the light will come, and she and I will be enemies again. Leave us now, so that I may say my good byes to her.” InuYasha stood and walked out of the camp with yet another apology passing from his lips.

“Did you mean those things?” she asked him, looking into his golden eyes, her own filled with tears.

“I do not lie.”

Kagura's hand started shaking and she took his face into her hands and kissed him lovingly. “I would be your wife. I would be your concubine. I would follow you to the ends of the earth. Anything to be with you.”

“Do not say these things. I do not wish my heart to break when you die.”

“I pray you kill me in the morning. I never knew care, and I was given it. I had never known heart break, and I know it now too.” Kagura stood and wandered away. A tear ran down his lordship's face, an unexpected sign of emotion he rarely allowed to happen. He was thankful for the darkness that hid it.
