InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Ties that Bind... ❯ Awakening Spirit ( Chapter 7 )
[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Wow...I just want to apologize to all of you--I've become the type of writer that irks me most, I fear. I just haven't been able to sit down and write until now--my brain just refused to function in that way...*sweatdrops, cringing* and for that you have my most abject apologies. Also, this chapter is frightfully short, however you have my word that, on weekends at least, I'll be doing my best to update it, as well as post up some new stories that I've been hatching in my twisted little brain.
Of course, Sesshoumaru is still cowering after my retaliation for his...threats the last time. *cackles, an evil grin on her face*
Sesshoumaru: *snorts* woman, do you really think they will believe THAT?
Me: HEY! It could happen--after all, you're simply a man...I am WOMAN...HEAR ME ROAR!
Sesshoumaru: *rolls his eyes* you, woman, are what is more commonly referred to as a nutcase.
Me: MWAHAHAHAHA! You see? My corruptive powers are working upon him as we speak--just think, soon he might even end up able to RESPOND...
Is cut off abruptly.
Sesshoumaru: *smirking* bitch, I am most willing to respond...to certain situations *wraps his tail around her, pinning her arms to her sides*
Me: Oooooh...is that a promise?
Sesshoumaru: *quirks an eyebrow* do you doubt what I, Sesshoumaru, are telling you?
Me: Maybe...care to prove me wrong? *snerks*
because I'm suffering from a complete cranial shutdown, I'm going to leave that where it is--MWAHAHAHAHA! How the mighty have fallen, eh? I now wish to claim Sesshoumaru as MINE...although all copyrights and other related trademarks of Inu-Yasha and co belong solely to the goddess, Rumiko Takahashi. *bows her head* now ON WITH THE STORY XD
7--Awakening Spirit
She woke up slowly, her brain feeling as though it had been thrown into a fire and then stomped upon. Groaning, her eyes fluttered open, to be met by a glowing pair of eyes the color of molten gold. Remembering the events of the evening before, Kagome's eyes widened, and she went to scoot away, her heart beating frantically in her chest.
Holding her close to his body despite her fearful protestations, Inu-Yasha leaned close to her ear, mumbling what seemed like an endless stream of comforting noises, mixed in with heartfelt apologies at what she'd had to endure since their argument.
For some odd reason, she couldn't stop crying, the tears leaving silvery tracks down her cheeks as they flowed unchecked from her intense blue eyes. Why do I still have to be so damned...weak? She thought to herself, hating the tears that continued to stream down her flushed cheeks, even as she lay slumped against the hanyou's solid chest, drawing some degree of comfort from his warmth.
Resting his head lightly against her own, Inu-Yasha could feel his heart breaking at her gut-wrenching sobs, feeling more inadequate than he could ever remember feeling in his life, as her tears continued to soak the front of his haori (hope that's right...o.O)
Lifting her chin slightly with his hand, Inu-Yasha pressed his lips gently to hers, his breath fanning softly upon her face as he tilted his head slightly to the side to more fully caress her mouth with his own, content to remain as they were until she had calmed down. He moved his mouth to lovingly caress her entire visage with his lips, and occasionally his tongue, memorizing every inch of her features.
Slowly, Kagome's tears abated, and she allowed herself to partake of the comfort so freely offered by his embrace, sighing softly as she finally wrapped her own arms around him tightly. After a moment of comfortable silence, she pulled back a bit, and looked up at him with limpid eyes. "Why?" was all that she said, breaking the silence. Not even needing to ask what she was referring to, Inu-Yasha leaned back, lying on his back and pulling gently at her arm so that she lay halfway across his chest.
"Kagome," he began, closing his yees for a moment. "In some ways, I am a demon." he stated, meeting his questioning gaze with his own unflinching one. "The day you freed me from that damned tree and we started travelling together, you became mine--my responsibility, my woman, I suppose you could say. When I felt my brother's mark on you...I was unable to stop myself from replacing it with my own--and for that...I can only apologize..." he trailed off, looking as though he half-expected her to refuse to ever speak to him again, or to punish him in some other similar way.
