Chapter Twenty-five

She knew this day would come. She and her other two siblings had been waiting for what seemed like an eternity before it came. She had prepared herself, emotionally for this day but it hurt just as much as it did the first time; it felt no different. Now they were all alone, with no one to care for them except one person and that one person was too far away. The only way to reach this person was by letter.

With tears streaming down her face and shaking fingers she took her two siblings to her bedroom, got a quill and paper and began to write the letter. As she wrote the letter memories of the first tiime this happened resurfaced and her hands trembled even more. She hoped the letter would get there in time or else there was no hope.

Once finished with the letter, she told her two siblings to remain at home and she went to find a messenger. Once she found one she gave the messenger the name of the town and what part of Japan it was in. She paid him and sent him on his way.

When she returned home her tow siblings were still crying. She hugged them and said: "Don't worry, Raine will come back home."

*oOo*

Raine, Yosuke and Romy were having lunch and as usual Romy was giving her that suspicious look. Honestly, what had Raine done to her? She didn't know but she was getting tired of her mother-in-law's attitude towards her. She tried to ignore the malicious woman but Romay always made sure Raine noticed her. Annoying pest she was.

Ayumi entered the dining area and bowed before going to Raine and handing over a letter. Raine put down her chopsticks and opened the letter. It was from her sister, the one immediately after her and from the water stains on the papaer she could tell she had been crying when she wrote it and that it wasn't good news.

The letter told of her father and his illness, an illness similar to the one that had claimed ehr mother's life. When she read this she gasped and covered her mouth with her hadn in shock and dismay. Her sister was asking her to return home and help her care for tehir father during his last days.

"Who is it from?" Romy asked with a slight grin on her face.

"Excuse me." Raine said ignoring Romy's question and leaving the dining hall to go to her bedroom.

Once in her room she wrote a letter to Thor, telling him that she was returning home for a few days and called Jiro to deliver it. Then she took the trunk she used when she left home and started packing.

Yosuke became concerned when Raine left suddenly and decided to check up on her. Ever since he had found her in the garden alone some nights ago she had seemed different. No different good, different bad. She seemed sad. Had he made a mistake in marrying her? Their marriage hadn't deen what he expected, what he'd hoped it would be. But he loved her so marrying her was what he wanted to do. But did she want to marry him? He hoped so.

"Raine what are you doing?" Yosuke asked when he saw his wife packing.

"I have to go home; my father is sick and dying." She answered.

"I'm going with you." Yosuek said taking out his own trunk and packing.

Raine stopped. "What? Oh right." foe a second she forgot that Yosuke was her husband and would as a result have to go with her. Quite frankly the first thing she had thought of when she read the letter was informing Thor of her absence.

"I'll get a wagon." He said.

"No. That will take too long, Jiro can fly us." Raine said.

Yosuke looked at Raine in disbelief.

"Jiro can fly?" He asked.

Raine nodded.

"Don't you think two trunks wil be too heavy for him to carry?" Yosuke asked.

Well he did have a point. Raine started looking for something lighter to carry her things in.

*oOo*

Thor was taking a walk in the gardens surrounding his home, feeling alot better since that emotional session with his mother which, thankfully, he wasn't getting teased about. Now just about his entire family knew he was in love with a human and that she was carrying his child. He didn't get the response he expected however.

He thought they would be disappointed in him, especially because she was married but they seemed to understand. Shiaka and Mika were excited about the baby and couldn't wait to see it. Malique just really wanted to see Raine to find out if she was easy or not, which Thor had to keep reminding him she wasn't. Sesshomaru trusted his son and knew he would do the right thing.

Jiro's scent travelled on the wind and drifted into Thor's nostrils. He looked up and soon enough his favourite pet landed in front of him, still at maximum size and gave Thor Raine's letter. The first thing that came to his mind was to follow her on her trip and make sure she was okay.

Just then Shiaka and Mokuba came into the garden.

"Shiaka tell okaasan and chichiue that I will be gone for a while." He said.

Shiaka smiled and nodded.

Thor folded Raine's letter and put it in his sleeve before climbing on Jiro's back and flying to Raine.

*oOo*

Raine packed the last of her clothes and tied a rope around the bad. Yosuke had offered to do her packing for her but she decided to do it herself. After all she was pregnant not handicapped. She took a deep breath and sat down to rest. This baby was taking more alot more energy out of her than she thought. She rubbed her belly and looked out through the window.

She still had no clue who the father was. Finding out who the father was would mean hurting one of them and that was something she didn't want, but had to do. The only way she could know was to wait until she gave birth and see if the baby was hanyou or human. It was the only way she could know.

"You okay." Yosuke asked sitting next to her. She smiled and nodded.

She heard Jiro roar outside and knew he had returned. She picked up her bag, but Yosuke opted to carry it for her. She slid open their bedroom door and saw Romy standing in front of her with her hand positioned to knock.

"Oh, you're leaving? What may I ask is so urgent?" She said.

"My father is sick and needs me with him. Now if you'll excuse me." Raine said walking around Romy.

Romy turned around to fasce Raine. "Myoko asked me to tell you that the tea you asked fro to help with your morning sickness is ready and since you're leaving I think it best you take some." She said.

"You're absolutley right mother. I'll be right back Raine." Yosuke said putting down their bags and going to Myoko fro the tea.

"Romy looked Raine up and down.

"You're getting bigger and bigger everyday. A little too big if you ask me." She said.

"Why, isn't a pregnant woman supposed to get big?" Raine asked.

"Don't get smart with me. I know your secret; I know that child doesn't belong to my son I just don't hvae any proof. But when I do I will make sure my son hates you." Romy said.

Raine was about to comment when Yosuke came back with a large bottle of the tea Myoko had made. He helped Raine get onto Jiro and then got on behind her.

"Have a nice trip." Romy said as they felw away.

When they were out of sight an evil grin formed on her face. She would prove that Raine cheated even if it was the last thing she did on this earth. Now to search their room.
