All right. That was the first chapter. Onto the second.
The Vampire Angel
Chapter 1: the kidnapping
The year was 1994. Thirteen years ago. A little boy, 6 years old, had been missing for 2 weeks. But this wasn't just any boy. He was a hanyou. No one really bothered with him because of what he is. That's how it started.
*************
A woman came to my door one night. Her name was Izayoi. She was a mess when she found me. She was soaking from being out in the rain and her mascara was running.
“Oh please help me Kagome.” She frantically asks.
“No one will help. They think `oh, he's just a hanyou, what's the point'. I just want my son back. Please help me get my son back.” She starts breaking out into uncontrollable sobs. I usher her into my house.
“Do you have anything of his that I could use to find him or the kidnapper?” I ask.
“Yes” she pulls out a shirt with his scent and the kidnapper's over it. I haven't smelt that for 49 years. I know who took her son.
“I'll do all I can” I assure her. “Oh, thank you” she cries and hugs me for dear life.
*************
I know who it was the second I smelt that shirt. I just needed to find him again. It wasn't easy let me tell you. I had the scent fresh in my mind again so I just needed to go around town to find it.
Then in another week I found it and started tracking it down.
I found them in an abandoned warehouse. Then I made my presence known.
“Naraku” I say to him. My ex-husband.
“Ah, Kagome. I knew you'd come.”
“Why do this? Why take this boy away from his mother? Why disappear for all these years?”
“Why? To win you back of course.”
“What?” As if I would ever be with him again.
“You know we can't have children, us vampires. We could be one happy family,” he says as he strokes the head of the terrified boy.
“I don't think so. Just give the boy back to me and I won't have to kill you.”
“No, I'm going to keep him.”
“Fine then, but leave the boy out of this.” He smirks.
“As you wish.” He releases the boy and he runs over to me. I'm about to leave when…
“I'm not giving him up so easily.” He says. I push the boy out of the way and charge Naraku, my wings out my eyes bright blue. His eyes a dark red. I take out my sword and plan to run it through him. He catches it and breaks it. I take out my dagger. He knocks it out of my hand. Now we're on the same terms.
We fight with our bare hands, our nails longer. He sneaks some kisses in, not without me getting in some scratches. There's a high ceiling and I fly up and swoop down. I crash him into the floor of the warehouse. There's fire surrounding us.
Now he's off guard. I have him pinned. I find my dagger close by and plunge it through his heart. He cries out in pain.
“Goodbye.” I growl. I give him a goodbye kiss. It's a deep kiss before the life leaves him. A kiss filled with pain, hate, and a love that doesn't exist anymore.
I have to make sure he won't come back and the only way to do that is to set him on fire. That's the for sure way to kill a vampire. The boy is petrified. I hold out my hand to him.
“I won't hurt you. Come on” I say to him. He slowly comes over. I take him in my arms and we walk out the door. I lock it. No way for Naraku to escape. I'm not letting him live any longer.
The flames become bigger. Naraku gets up at looks at me through the glass with a look of longing and pain. The flames engulf him and he yells out in agony. Then there's nothing left.
I take the boy home. He's fallen asleep in my arms.
***********
I give the hanyou back to his mother the next day. She's so happy she has him back she's crying tears of joy. They've been hugging for a good ten minutes in my doorway.
“Oh, Inuyasha.” She keeps saying.
“I love you, Mom,” says Inuyasha. Then Izayoi talks to me.
“How can I ever repay you?”
“You don't have to. I'm glad I could help”
“Oh thank you so much” she says and then hugs me.
************
Now. It's 2007. I've been keeping an eye on Inuyasha for thirteen years. Making sure no one will do anything to him again. We don't ever have a face-to- face confrontation. He hasn't seen me since I saved him. But I still protect him. And I plan to until his life ends.
His mother never suspected how I don't age. She went blind shortly after and then died in a few years. It's been a hard life for him. To grow up without a father. To be kidnapped by a vampire at six years old. Then to have his mother die at the age of 11. To have a cold brother who could care less about him.
I may seem like a stalker, but I just want him to be safe. And his life is screwed up enough. It's best if he doesn't meet me anyway.
