InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Weaver of Fate ❯ Chapter 2
Chapter 2:
“Why her InuYasha?” Miroku asked dropping the formalities once they left the gray building commonly called the Farm. The black haired teen looked at the wild prince.
“She makes people scared. If I can get her trained to be a bodyguard, nobody will care if I take a mate. They’ll think she is.” InuYasha smiled briefly. The sun shone briefly through the clouds making his silver hair shine. Miroku grinned.
“Though Sango won’t be happy.” Miroku said naming his favorite person in the king’s household.
“I’m sure she won’t mind.” InuYasha had a secret smile play across his face.
“Hmph!” Miroku said as the door to InuYasha’s carriage opened. InuYasha held the door waiting for his friend to step in. He then went in after signaling the servants to go. The door closed as the two black horses in red livery surged forward on their powerful hindquarters. The rocking motion of the cart jostled both prince and servant.
“So still trying to get your father to let you sleep in the forest?” Miroku asked lounging on the comfortable seats.
“Nah gave that up. Instead I ‘camp’ out sometimes. He and mother don’t really mind. They’re more focused on Sesshomaru.” InuYasha said the last through clenched teeth. The Crown Prince was a stony man whose calm silence infuriated everybody. He and InuYasha hated each other to a point they tried to kill each other once. InuYasha had bit his brother. He was only 10 and Sesshomaru 17 and Sesshomaru had tied him to a rock and attempted to throw him into the lake. Sesshomaru was punished for that crime.
“Hey why are we going the back way?” Miroku asked pushing the curtain aside. Outside the castle loomed its white marble walls reflecting the occasional sunbeams poking through the heavy clouds.
“Less people who want me or it dead.” InuYasha hissed the word it. The carriage came to a rolling stop in front of the entrance to the Matsu Wing. The whole side of the castle designated the Matsu Wing belonged to InuYasha and if he ever decided to have a family theirs also. The wing had it’s own kitchen, 30 bedrooms, grand ballroom, bathhouse, stables, garden, servant quarters, training rooms, dining hall and aviary filled with magnificent hawks and falcons.
“You really hate him.” Miroku said as he pulled the carriage door open and stepped out his hand held out for his majesty.
“Yes I do” InuYasha replied under his breath. He ignored the hand and entered the Wing that belonged to him. He strode the long stone corridor filled with tapestries of forest scenes, statues of noble dogs as most of the castle was decorated in and the long runner carpet was red and silver, InuYasha’s house colors. InuYasha turned the corner heading for the grand staircase. He climbed the marble stairs and turned to the large pine doors that opened to his rooms. The doors panels held a legend of a Miko and a hanyou that had brought this kingdom forth from darkness. The Miko held a small pink orb shining in the paint. Pushing the doors open InuYasha stepped into the room beyond and into the sitting area of his room.
When Miroku shut the door behind him InuYasha began ripping off the formal clothes he wore. Throwing on his red haori and hakama InuYasha ran to the balcony over looking the large garden of pine trees. InuYasha looked longingly at the secluded forest but only sat on the railing.
“InuYasha, what’s the matter?” Miroku asked his friend as InuYasha’s forehead became wrinkled in deep thought.
“It’s just that girl she seemed so abused compared to all the others I seen. Her eyes held a look like a cornered animal. I think something happened to her.” InuYasha said his bangs shadowing his eyes. “Will you summon Koga to me?” InuYasha looked up his amber eyes glowing from reflected light.
“Yeah hold on.” he turned and disappeared into the castle. InuYasha looked into the forest and toward the tree in the center that towered them all. The sounds of light footsteps behind him caused InuYasha to turn and look at the wolf demon.
“You used to be a slaver, right?” he asked Koga.
“Yeah up till 10 years ago, brought in a little girl. She held this picture to her chest wouldn’t let go. Had a look in her eyes like she was a corned animal. Acted like she was submissive. I heard from a buddy of mine that she’s turned into a trouble maker. Bit a guard.” Koga said as he bowed low to his superior.
“Thanks that is all.” InuYasha said waving his hand. The wolf walked away and Miroku took his place. Miroku kept silent allowing the hanyou prince his thoughts.
***Kagome***
She awakened to being chained by her arms and legs in a small tight box with holes. She opened her mouth only to realize there was a gag in it. She growled in her throat and struggled against the chains. She silently screamed in pain when the cut around her neck was forced open by the collar around her neck. The box, she noticed was moving and now it had stopped. The door to the steel containment box slid open and two ox demons pulled the dazed girl out by the chains. She was too dizzy to scream or kick and the demons were glad. They carried her by the chains, her body hanging between the two. They reached a pool of water and dunked the submissive girl in. after a few dunks most of the blood was off and they carried her to a different cage. They tossed her into it and locked the door. Soon after while she was pulling something out of the rags she wore the cart began moving away from her prison. She focused on the faded, water-stained picture and clung to her consciousness. Behind the bars the light faded as the sun set beyond the mountains of the Lost Souls.
