It didn't take Inuyasha and Kouga horribly long to figure out that, not only were their kids gone, but they seemed to be gone together. Being that not only was he male, and he was an overprotective father, Inuyasha had to find some way to take out his fear and frustration. So, naturally, he picked Kouga.

“What did your son do with my daughter?” he shouted, and Kouga's blue eyes flashed. “Oy! Who's to say that your daughter isn't responsible for all of this?!”

Inuyasha smirked and out of habit, his arms crossed smugly over his chest. “So you're suggesting that your son got kidnapped by my little girl?”

Shock was written clearly on the wolf's face, but quickly he regained his composure and smirked. “Hey, any daughter of Kagome's has to be strong. Maybe later I'll swing by to say hello to her.”

Kouga, of course, was only trying to provoke his rival. He had long since forgotten his feelings Kagome and was truly head over heels in love with his mate and best friend, Ayame. Kagome, to him, was his “pack-sister.”

A vein ticked on Inuyasha's forehead and his blood boiled. “You'll not lay a hand on my mate OR my pups!!”

The ookami's hands lifted in silent surrender. “Easy, mutt-face, I was only messing with you. I have my own pack to take care of. For now we have to forget our differences and find Keitaro and Izayoi.”

Inuyasha looked dumbfounded for a moment, but nodded. “Yes.”

Kouga turned to run off, but then looked back at him and smirked. “But as soon as they're safe… you're going down.”

Inuyasha grinned, golden eyes flashing. “Bring it on, stinking wolf.”

In an unspoken truce, Inuyasha and Kouga headed off together to search for their children.

“Fwoah…”

Izayoi peered over rather large rock, golden eyes wide as she stared at the sight before her. Keitaro beside her was equally stunned. The wolf prince's long brown tail flicked unconsciously, brushing against Izayoi as she kneeled out of sight.

With a yelp, she fell backwards, landing on her bottom. Heart pounding, she glared at him and he merely chuckled sheepishly. “Sorry, it gets in the way sometimes.”

The young woman glared at him for a moment, but then let loose a few chuckles of her own, before standing. “Well I think that's about enough evidence. Azumi's here. Let's go in.”

Keitaro nodded once, in agreement. “Of course.”

Azumi wiped small beads of perspiration from her forehead and sighed, resting her weapon vertically on the ground, sticking it in the dirt so it stood tall beside her. Violet eyes opened and she cast a glance towards her mother, whom was smiling at her, her identical weapon resting on her shoulder.

“Good job, Azumi.” She praised, smoothing her dark auburn hair. “We'll train some more tomorrow, okay?” With that, her ever-fit mother turned and headed into one of the nearby huts.

The young woman nodded and sighed, sitting down, her training outfit appearing tight but allowed plenty of mobility. That was a particularly hard session. She mused to herself, her breathing slowing. Must be because I'm still worn out from that dragon.

Using her weapon for support, Azumi stood, and was about to follow her mother, when a small “mew” caught her attention and she looked down, smiling.

“Hey, Kirara.” She greeted happily, as the two-tail leaped onto her shoulder and purred contentedly. Azumi giggled and petted the neko-youkai on the head.

“Azumi?”

The young girl turned and smiled at her father, whom was back from collecting herbs. “Yes, father?” she called as he approached her, a basket of greenery balanced expertly in his arms.

“I suppose you and your mother are finished then?”

Azumi nodded happily as her father kissed her brow and stepped back a bit. “She's probably waiting for those herbs.” His daughter pointed out, gesturing towards his baggage. He chuckled and nodded towards her. “You're right.”

He turned towards the now dimly-lit hut and approached it. Noticing Azumi wasn't following, he turned. “You coming?”

The girl had been staring at the dying rays of the sun, but turned to him and nodded. “Yes, in a minute.”

Her father seemed satisfied with her answer and without another word, disappeared after her mother.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Azumi sank to her knees and unwrapped the black and orange glove surrounding her right hand. Sure there was an identical one around her left, but this one was important. She never took it off, nor did she take off the beautifully painted beads surrounding it. A bracelet, everyone else thought. If they only knew…

Azumi gritted her teeth and shook her head. No, she shouldn't think of such things. She didn't want her family to worry. Her father had helped defeat Naraku, and the curse had been lifted. He didn't have to be afraid for his heirs or himself anymore. She just couldn't tell him.

Violet eyes fluttering shut, Azumi allowed her mind to wander to that fateful day….

“That was easy enough, eh, Kirara?” Azumi giggled as she walked beside her companion, the small two-tail that had only moments before been largely transformed in battle. It was Azumi's first official mission by herself - getting rid of a rat youkai plaguing a nearby village. She was only thirteen, and her mother believed her to be ready for small solo missions. She couldn't be happier! She was so ecstatic about her triumph, that she didn't pay attention to where she was going and soon bumped into something…. Or rather, someone.

“Oh, excuse me, I-“

Red eyes glared down upon her and Azumi gasped, taking a few steps back, her hand resting on the holt of her kantana. “W-what…?”

“You have interfered!” the thing yelled, and to Azumi'ssurprise, a woman'svoice rang so clearly through the forest.

Azumi propelled herself backwards as Kirara beside her transformed. But the woman, who seemed to move with the wind, soon approached her and grabbed her by the throat. Azumi struggled slightly but was nearly frozen in fear. She hadn't been trained enough! She wasn't ready for this!”

The outline of a middle-aged woman came into focus and a sadistic smile appeared on her lips. “You are the heir of the monk and the tayjia.”

Azumi's eyes grew wide. Mom and Dad!But she said nothing as the woman chuckled.

“True they may have helped free me from Naraku, but my heart died along with him. Now I cannot feel anything!”

Insanity flashed in her eyes and Azumi's heartbeat increased tenfold.“I know!” the woman declared. “I'll make you pay for their mistakes!”

Dropping the young teenager, the sorceress grabbed her right and shouted something Azumi couldn't understand. There was a bright flash of light, and the next thing she knew, it felt like her hand was being ripped in half.

She blacked out.

Azumi flexed her concealed hand, brow furrowed. She was the only one, female at that, currently alive that carried the dreaded Wind Tunnel curse. No one knew about it, not even her mother.

And now it is my responsibility to destroy Kagura. If I don't, then…

She clenched her fist tightly, gritting her teeth. I will meet the same fateful end as my grandfather and great-grandfather. I won't let that happen. Kagura, I'll defeat you! I swear, one day I'll-

“Sis!!”

Azumi's head shot up and she turned towards the hut to see her twin brother, Meyatsu, named for their father's grandfather, standing in the doorway. “Dinnertime! You coming?”

“Uhh… Yeah!” she called, wrapping her hand quickly and standing up. “I'll be there soon!”

She could see his silhouette nod and he disappeared back into the hut. Sighing, she stowed her weapon in the storeroom and headed towards the hut, the evening stars appearing above her.

I'll avenge you, Grandfather. Somehow.
