Chapter 1: The World That Changed. (Sekai o Kawatta)
Have you had that feeling that something was a little off despite having such a wonderful day? Something odd or strange… something that makes you think that you forgot something that probably isn't what it is? Or something that makes you worry that there's probably something wrong but there isn't? Higurashi Kagome felt just that. Something was clearly tugging at the hems of her skirt, irritating, but at the same time makes her worry…a lot.
“The hell!? You weren't even here for a week and you're going back!?” the han'you's loud voice reached her ears but fell short to catch her attention; she was so deep in thought. It was just two days ago that she told them that she needs to go back to her time, giving them a very vague explanation as to why the sudden return. Although Sango and Miroku both understood her, owing to her unusual behavior for the days she was there, Inuyasha, of course, protested, but didn't have a choice as she yelled `Suwari! (Sit!). She felt something was really wrong to make her worry this much... `I hope that this is nothing and they're alright' her thoughts dwell on the three; no make it four people she left behind, `Please be alright…'
“Oi! Kagome!” Inuyasha's voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
“What!?” she yelled back.
“We're here” Sango pointed at the well in front of them.
“Oh…” she whispered in embarrassment.
“You haven't been yourself lately. Is there something wrong?” the houshi(monk) asked her for them.
“Nothing…it's nothing really…” her voice failed to hide her feelings. Her friends gave her odd looks, disbelieving what she had just said.
“You sure you're alright?” Sango asked her again.
“Hai…” she responded rather meekly.
“It's Inuyasha's fault! He doesn't pay much attention to Kagome!” Shippo blurted out pointing an accusing finger at Inuyasha.
“Why you little—!” Just as a he was about to pounce o the young kitsune, he stopped in his tracks as he heard a soft chuckle from Kagome at their antics. `What the hell!? What's wrong with her!?' He thought as he went about sniffing Kagome.
“What are you doing?” the miko asked him, a vein starting to pop out of her head.
“Someone has to make sure you come back” the dog demon stated.
“Wha—?”
“I'm going with you!” Inuyasha declared and before she could even complain he had already jumped in before her.
“Inuyasha!” she yelled, running after him.
“(sigh) What do you want to do?” Miroku edged closer to Sango.
“Well…”
Modern day Japan??
“Inuyasha!” she called after him as she got out of the Bone Eater's well.
“Wha…?” she was at a loss for words for the sight that greeted her. Her eyes started to hurt little by little as she looked around…and at that moment she felt her heart and mind stop. It was an awful sight… something she never thought of seeing or going home to.
From where she was standing near the well, she could see everything. The well house seems to be gone, burned to the ground. Where her house and the shrine lay, only black and scorched ruins remained. Unconsciously, her feet started to guide her towards the Goshinboku. Her heart sank, her legs wavered in shock and her whole body trembled as the carcasses of her mother and grandfather hung lifelessly on the tree, their entire bodies burned beyond recognition. Their faces…their faces were the only part that was never burned, as if a sickening reminder of whom they were.
“Kagome!!” Inuyasha yelled out her name, but her mind has already shut everything out as she continued to stare at the bodies. Neither tear nor sound escaped from her body, seemingly trapped in time.
“Kagome!!” Inuyasha called her again but failed. By the time he to the other side of the well, everything was already burned. He was stunned to find their bodies hanging on the tree, but the first thought that came to his mind was to prevent Kagome from coming here, but failed as a gaint golden worm like creature attacked him out from out of nowhere.
“Kuso!(Shit!) he cursed as several more worms spurted of the ground just as he has killed one. `Nani?A demon?' He felt an unusually large aura begin to get closer.
A gigantic demon emerged out of nowhere. It appeared to be one gigantic head, it had no eyes, its hairs were made out of human limbs that sprouted from his back, it had one gigantic mouth and its tongue, made out of strewn corpses, had faces on them screaming like mad.
“What the!?” he uttered in disgust. He was so distracted by its appearance he did not notice that several more grotesque looking demons had started emerging out of nowhere, one of which has his tail like a scorpion already lunging for Inuyasha's back.
“RRGGGHH!!” he heard a demon scream behind him. He saw what looked like a giant dog biting the demon's tail.
“Oi! Dog-boy!! Grab Kagome and run!” a woman screamed at him as she pierced her giant spear into the demon's belly.
“Who the hell are you!?” he exclaimed at the sudden intrusion.
“It's Yuka! Now hurry up and take her!” she yelled as she blocked a demon's hand with her spear. `One of Kagome's friends!?' his eye's widened.
“Kagome!” he looked for her but she wasn't where she was earlier. He looked in the direction of the house and found her walking towards it. “Kagome!” he called out as he sprinted towards her.
`Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? I don't get it, why!?' her thoughts repeated these questions repeatedly in an unending chant.
Cling, cling.
She heard the faint sound of a bell in a distance. She couldn't understand it…it's as if that was the only sound she hears, everything else lies in silence.
Cling, cling.
As if on instinct and seemingly like a puppet, her feet started moving on there own. Seemingly lifeless, she started walking to an uncertain destination following the sound of a bell.
Cling, cling.
The bell's faint sounds slowly leading her to the remains of her home. Unconsciously, her head shot up looking straight into the eyes of a boy she doesn't know but seemed very familiar. He seemed to be the same age as her and is very handsome. His raven colored hair stopped just below his ears and fashioned into a very a masculine and rough way. He has perfectly tanned skin and appeared to be as tall as Inuyasha. He was wearing a black tee shirt and white cargo pants. The word `REAL' was on his shirt.
He smiled and extended his right arm as to invite her to a dance.
“俺ã®å§« (Ore no Hime = My Princess.)” His words triggered something within her. It consumed her soul as her feet continued to move forward. Her eyed became blank as with her mind.
“Kagome!” Inuyasha called her name and grabbed her with both his hands stopping her.
“You! Who the hell are you!?” he screamed in anger.
“Inuyasha! Quick! Just grab her and follow me!” Yuka beckoned him to follow her. Using his strength he lifted Kagome up to his shoulder and followed Yuka, trusting her for the time being.
As soon as they disappeared from view a gigantic eye, the size of a human being, opened up near the boy.
“Kieta…(They're gone)” he whispered seemingly conversing with the eye whose gaze was fixated on him.
“MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM” a strange sound echoed.
“Sou darou? Shikatanai…( Is that right? It can't be helped…)” he responded to the sound.
“MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM” the same sound echoed.
“Wakatte yo! Demo…neechan…kaetta (I get it! But…sis…she's back)” he smirked.
“MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM”
“Kore wa…tanoshii yo ne? (This is…a fun world, isn't it?)” he smiled.
