The worth of a friend

Chapter 17

 

Sat in an abandoned hut somewhere in a deep forest Naraku's heart was sat waiting, withering under his fur pelt as his small body underwent a change, with little Kanna standing by and watching closely. Minutes later a larger body, though still young looking, emerged from the fur, still naked as the day he was created. Looking lilac eyes with the emotionless doll in front of him the kid smirked and flexed his arms.

 

“So Kanna, what do you think to my new body now, eh?”

 

Looking blankly back at him the girl didn't answer but watched on as he rummaged through a pile of clothes that they had stolen nearby. Looking behind her at the setting sun through the open door Kanna didn't let anything show as she wondered where he sister Kagura was now, and if she could find them.

 

“She and those bastards will never find us Kanna.” He broke in, then continued on when he had the girl's full attention. “I, Hakudoshi, can read every single thought that passes through that supposed blank head of yours Kanna. You belong to me now girl, and the only way to be rid of me is to die, but I know you do not wish that.”

 

Showing the first sign of emotion since she was born Kanna's eyes widened slightly in fear as she watched the now clothed Hakudoshi step towards her, one of his larger hands reaching out to brush her cheek.

 

“And if that wretched wench of a sister of yours does happen to find you, I will kill her too.” Hakudoshi murmured softly, before striding past her to the outside. “Come Kanna, let us go and explore.”

 

Following obediently without another word Kanna was crying inside for her sibling, wishing that she would come and rescue her from this nightmare quickly and soon.

Pulling themselves out of the well back in the feudal era Kagome and Hoshiko groaned and dropped to their knees, their large packs falling behind them as they rested.

 

“I think mama went a little over the top in spoiling us, don't you think?” Kagome thought aloud, rubbing her very full belly from the breakfast the older woman had cooked that morning.

 

Leaning back against the well Hoshiko chuckled as she felt the others quickly heading their way. “Definitely. I think Sess will have to carry me for the remainder of the day.”

 

“That can be arranged my mate.”

 

Both looking up at the baritone voice they saw that mentioned taiyoukai was standing there before them, his younger brother a mere few steps behind him while the rest of the pack were still nowhere in sight. Smiling at her mate Hoshiko managed to roll to her feet before going to embrace him and giving him a deep kiss.

 

Once they were all back together again outside Keade's hut the two sisters busied themselves with setting out the lunch that mama had packed them. Smiling at the others when they started to tuck in they passed the time asking questions about where to head next.

 

“We'll head in the direction Kagura went. It shouldn't take her long to find us.” Inuyasha commented after finishing his meal with a loud sigh. All nodding in agreement they soon found that the food was gone and were quickly back on the road again.

 

Hours later walking down a well used road they all had to shield their eyes and faces as the once calm wind suddenly picked up around them, and when the dust settled they found that the kazi was amongst their presence again.

 

“Yo!” Kagura greeted lightly as she looked them all over before continuing on. “I have come across some rumours of two strange children passing through villages and causing havoc. They even match the descriptions of Kanna and the baby, though by the sound of it he's suddenly hit a growth spurt.”

 

“Lead the way then Kagura.” Sesshoumaru growled lowly, leading the rest of the pack after her as they headed in a northwest direction. Seeing how close they all were to the border of his own lands the taiyoukai couldn't hide the displeased scowl as he discreetly sniffed the surrounding area.

 

I have not walked my lands in many days now. The others will be fine for a day while I leave them.

 

“This Sesshoumaru has business to attend too in the Western lands. I will be gone no longer than a day.”

 

“We will be gone no longer than a day.” Hoshiko amended as she quickly saw what her mate was up too. Seeing the questioning raised brow on his stoic face she just raised one of her own and wiggled it slightly.

 

Seeing where her thoughts were going Sesshoumaru inwardly sighed and chuckled, wondering if her pregnancy had anything to do with her lusting after him nearly every day that passed.

 

She is insatiable.

 

Bidding goodbye for now to the others and making sure Rin would be ok the two mates quickly set off, flying over the bordering trees on Sesshoumaru's youkai cloud.

 

As if knowing what they were going to get up too the two remaining couples exchanged knowing looks and snickered under the breaths, only Inuyasha making a comment as they continued to follow the kazi onwards.

 

“Yeah, we all know what kind of business he has to see too.”

Held tightly within the arms of her mate Hoshiko smiled to herself and looked down and around at the passing ground beneath their feet while Sesshoumaru sailed over surveying his lands. The only sounds that broke the silence were the surrounding wildlife and the few contented sighs she emitted when he would let his hands wander as he held her.

 

“Are we going to land soon?” Hoshiko asked after a very long time.

 

Looking at the position of the sun in the sky Sesshoumaru could see that it was approaching midday, and so without a word he directed them to a meadow that had just entered his vision. Sniffing and listening for any threats and finding none, the taiyoukai released his mate then watched her silently as she surveyed the thick grass and flowers that surrounded them for miles around.

 

“Wow, this place is cool Sesshoumaru.” Hoshiko gushed happily. Twirling around and giggling to herself the pink haired woman swiftly dropped to the ground, where she sat and looked at her mate expectantly.

 

Smirking at her antics Sesshoumaru pulled out Tenseiga first and slammed it into the ground, his blue energy exploding around them with a soft boom, covering a large area with a barrier. With a quick tug to the yellow and blue sash around his waist he let that and the remaining sheath and sword to drop to the ground at his feet.

 

Watching Sesshoumaru disrobe in front of her with wide, heated eyes Hoshiko gulped and licked her lips slowly, her eyes following the movements of his clawed hands as they made quick work of the ties that held his armour together. With a dull thud the black and grey mass joined his weapons on the ground. Toeing off her shoes Hoshiko lent back on her elbows, her slightly bent knees slowly bowing open then drifting close again, making her red skirt slip further down her thighs and giving her lover a peek at the little black thong she had slipped into on a whim when she changed this morning.

 

“Something wrong Sess?” She asked when she saw that he had yet to move from his current position, and his gaze was not locked with hers.

 

Growling lowly at his bitches teasing Sesshoumaru slowly stalked towards her, dropping to his knees in front of hers and stopping their motions with his hands. Growling again he roughly yanked them apart, his breath catching in his throat when his suspicions were confirmed from the little peek earlier. Hearing her increased breathing and heart rate, but ignoring it for now, Sesshoumaru slid his hands down her upper thighs, pushing them wider apart and exposing the juncture where that little piece of black, silky cloth which barely covered her core.

 

“Mate…” Sesshoumaru managed to growl out, and would have said more if he hadn't made the mistake of looking directly at her. Seeing her eyes and face blazing with lust for him wasn't what had silenced him, but the fact that she had somehow removed her top without his knowledge to reveal the matching black silk and lace corset top, which cupped her breasts and pushed them up, giving the effect that they were about to spill from the bindings.

 

“Do you like Sess?” Hoshiko purred, one sock covered leg running up and down his side. “I got this present just for you. Aren't you going to open it?”

 

Running his hands lightly over the strange bindings covering half of her chest Sesshoumaru silently admitted that the futuristic undergarment stirred his blood quicker than anything else she had worn for him in the past. Looking for a way to open up his `present' without tearing it to shreds he quickly gave up and dived his hands into her cleavage, easily pulling them free from their holdings and for his hungry eyes to see. Groaning at the sight of the ripe mounds shaking in front of him with the motions of his mates rapid breathing Sesshoumaru dived in again, latching his eager mouth to one already hard nipple, while the other squeezed and rolled the other.

 

Crying out at the treatment Hoshiko laid back of the soft grass and let her mate have his way, her hands busying themselves with yanking his haori and under kimono from his hakama's and pushing them off his shoulders and down his arms to the elbows.

 

To far gone Sesshoumaru just flung the offending garment from his body as his hungry mouth switched breasts, his hands easily removing the thong by sliding it down her legs, though he left her skirt on for now. Nipping lightly at her flushed skin Sesshoumaru made his way down to her cunt, which was already dripping profusely and flushed a dark pink with her building passion. Nuzzling her curls on her mound the taiyoukai spread her lower lips with one hand, while the other plunged three fingers into her heat.

 

Arching up off of the ground at the sudden move Hoshiko cried out in bliss, her hands fisting his silver hair to hold him where he was. Tensing at the first flick of his tongue on her pearl she let out a shuddering breath when the motion continued then started to hump his face when that devilish appendage increased in speed and force.

 

“SESS-HOU-MARU!” Hoshiko suddenly screamed when her first orgasm suddenly shot through her un-expectantly, leaving her dazed and slack in her mates grasp.

 

Peeking wickedly up over her heaving body Sesshoumaru chuckled darkly at the glazed look on her face, and pushing himself up over her prone form the taiyoukai growled and licked her cum from his lips.

 

“Do not fall asleep now mate, I am far from finished with you.”

Camped out under the stars that same night the rest of the Inu taichi were all silently sat around the fire, the only exception being the two youngsters who were already asleep curled up against Ah-Un's belly, with Jaken sat not too far from them.

 

Sat on a branch over looking the group Kagura sighed sadly as she watched the two couples below snuggle up to their loves and could here them talking softly amongst themselves. Feeling the ache in her heart for her little sister again the wind witch looked up at the stars she could see through the treetops, wishing and hoping that Kanna was ok.

 

I'm coming for you little one. Do not loose faith.

 

Leaning back against the tree Kagura slowly nodded off into a light doze with the sounds of the rest of the pack murmuring in her pointed ears.

After checking in of his castle early morning the next day Sesshoumaru and Hoshiko were back in the air again, happy and content as they closed in on where the others were. Passing the ground where the Inu taichi had set up camp they swiftly came upon them an hour up the road heading in the same direction as before with Kagura leading still.

 

“Keh, so did you take care of business Sesshoumaru?” Inuyasha quipped with a smirk, then grunted softly from the sharp jab in the side from Kagome.

 

Instantly catching on to what his younger sibling was on about the taiyoukai smirked back smugly while the tip of his tail twitched at the memory of just what he and his mate had got up to.

 

“Indeed little brother, indeed.” Was all he replied with before he left Hoshiko's side as the other females of the group approached her and took up the lead of the group again.

 

Together again the group marched on, reaching their destination a few hours before midday. They all could see the remaining destruction even from the outskirts of the village they were being led to by Kagura. Deciding they didn't want to cause anymore fear with the still frightened villages only Miroku and Sango ventured in, and returned over thirty minutes later with what little information they could gather.

 

“It's just like Kagura told us.” Miroku started as he and Sango sat on a fallen tree. “Two adolescences around ten years of age happened upon the village two days ago, one albino girl and a white haired purple eyed boy. They say the boy was the leader, ordering the girl to do things like destroying homes and harming livestock.”

 

“That bastard.” Kagura growled softly under her breath, her fear for her sisters safety growing bigger as she realised again even though she was free Kanna was not.

 

“The villages said they saw the two headed up the road, the same direction we're going. There's some more villages up that way too.” Sango added after awhile.

 

“Mount your rides.” Was all Sesshoumaru said before he grabbed his mate and took to the air.

 

With the others not too far behind them they travelled the rest of the day that way in silence, the Inu's scanning the passing ground below for any signs of the two wayward children. But deep down they both knew that they would not be so bold and travel out in the open, as they had to know that they were being followed.

 

Soon enough just as night was falling the mixed group came upon the next village, and were surprised that it was still bustling and untouched. Landing out of sight of the villages the rest of the group headed in, leaving Rin and Shippo with Jaken and Ah-Un in the woods for the time being. Seeing that they would not be needed Sesshoumaru and Hoshiko stayed in the woods too, thinking that if the kids did show up then they could cover the others backs.

Looking around them as they villages went about their business Inuyasha and Kagome chanced a small smile at each other and kept on walking at the back of the group, Miroku and Sango having took the lead as they scouted the village for anything amiss. Finding themselves approaching the headman's home they were about to turn and go back to the others when a piercing scream from inside stilled them in their tracks. Without looking at each other the group rushed up the wooden steps and burst through the front door, their hanyou friend taking up the lead as he smelt the fresh scent of spilt human blood. Crashing through another shoji they all stopped dead in their tracks when the scene in front of them registered in their heads.

 

There stood over the unconscious form of a young girl was the boy of the group, his cold wicked purple eyes flickering over the group before him before locking gazes with Inuyasha.

 

“Well, well, look what the cat dragged in.” Hakudoshi smirked as he heard Kanna say she had sucked up the girls fathers soul like he'd asked.

 

Good going Kanna. Go and wait in the forest, I will be along shortly.

 

“Who the fuck are you?” Inuyasha growled menacingly, one hand tightening on the hilt of his sword while the other clenched into a tight fist at his side.

 

“I guess you already know what I am, thanks to that wind bitch, though I don't sense her anywhere near here. No matter. I am Hakudoshi, and even though I once carried Naraku's evil heart I am anything but like him.”

 

“What do you mean by once?” Miroku suddenly queered, having a feeling that their victory over Naraku was not all their doing.

 

“What do you think Monk.” Hakudoshi snorted back. “You think you actually killed that bastard. Ha! Naraku was so sure of himself that he didn't even realise that I was slowly severing the ties that bound us together, keeping that false body of his indestructible. When the last tie was gone I expelled his disgusting heart and destroyed it.”

 

“Then what do you want Hakudoshi. I sense no jewel shards on you.” Kagome asked from her position behind her mate who growled at the mention of the shards.

 

“I am not as foolish as that simpleton.” Hakudoshi retorted, one bare foot nudging the still unconscious girl at his feet. “I do not seek power from that bauble.”

 

While they continued to question the creepy kid and unknown to him Sesshoumaru had found Kanna wandering in the woods. With his mate and Kagura following behind him they quickly caught up to the girl, the taiyoukai's powers masking the girl from Hakudoshi, giving Kagura chance to grab the relieved child and soar into the sky. Safely on her sisters feather Kanna released all the souls she had stolen over the past few days and watched with a small happy smile as they flew away to their hosts.

 

Feeling something amiss Hakudoshi snarled at the others, preparing to make a hasty retreat, but didn't get further than a few backward steps before Inuyasha lunged at him with Tetsusaiga drawn. Seeing that he was too far away from the girl on the floor to use as leverage Hakudoshi dived for a nearby window, crashing through the wooden slats and missing the slice for his head. Rolling to his feet outside the demon child saw his chance a distance away by a well and raced towards her just as the hanyou behind him crashed through the rest of the window he had fled threw. The sudden commotion got the attention of the rest of the villages who had not heard the initial scream and dragged they children inside huts while the men of the village grabbed useable weapons to defend themselves with.

 

Knocking the mother aside as she ran to grab the small girl by the well Hakudoshi pulled her towards him, holding the shaken and struggling girl in front of his body with an arm around her throat.

 

“Be still wench, or I'll snap your neck like a twig!” Hakudoshi growled lowly in warning as he watched the rest of the gang assemble before him.

 

“Let the girl go Hakudoshi.” Inuyasha snarled as he levelled his sword at the boy, who's eyes had darkened to a near black purple while his near white hair faded to black.

 

Ignoring the hanyou's order Hakudoshi snarled, baring his now pointed teeth in a sinister grin. He suddenly yowled in pain though when the girl in his grasp sank her own teeth into his arm until she drew blood. Feeling no need for her now he flung her aside roughly and into the waiting arms of her mother, who no sooner grabbed her than ran off.

 

Flinging his head back in an enraged howl the rest of the brave villages ran for cover while the Inu taichi back away slightly when the air around Hakudoshi suddenly whipped up around him, and black lightning started to crackle angrily around his pulsing form.

 

“ENOUGH OF THIS GAME! YOU WILL ALL DIE NOW!” Hakudoshi suddenly bellowed before his small body burst apart at the seams, revealing a fierce black dragon that looked more beast than human, and stood no taller than the huts around them.

 

“Huh…what he hell!” Inuyasha barked in surprise, expecting something fiercer and nearly yelped in fright when it showed its speed by suddenly lunging at him. Dodging and diving the swiping talons the hanyou slashed back with his sword, driving the dragon away and giving his friends room to move and plot their own attacks.

 

With a flap of his wings Hakudoshi propelled himself into the air, making Inuyasha cover his face with a sleeve of his haori as he was pelted with dirt and stones from the back draft it caused. Too high up for the hanyou to reach him the dragon opened its mouth, which started to glow an eerie purple as he started gathering energy for his next attack. Before he could spit it at the unsuspecting hanyou and his friends a white blur streaked in front of him, smacking his bottom jaw into the top one. With a bellow of immense pain as the sudden blow stopped his attack and made it explode violently inside his mouth Hakudoshi knew without looking that Sesshoumaru was hovering before him, and before he could shake his head to clear it of the numbing pain he suddenly felt something very sharp and cold slice across his throat. Loosing the power to hold his dragon form Hakudoshi felt himself shift and shrink back to his humanoid form, which as soon as it touched the ground he was on his knees, holding the deep gash in his throat. Opening his mouth to spit out some scathing comment about the two Inu's all that came out was his black blood, which was slowly forming a large puddle around him.

 

“This foolishness ends now Hakudoshi.” Sesshoumaru informed him with his poker face while he flicked off the remaining blood from Tokijin's blade. With his younger brother at his side their swords sliced through Hakudoshi's flesh, spilling more of his blood as they hacked away his body piece by piece. When he lay there in many bloody bits Sesshoumaru extended his claws and in an act of overkill he destroyed the remains with his acrid poison, until all that was left was a smouldering and chard patch of earth.

 

Sheathing their swords they all looked up at the revived headman suddenly came out with his awake and shaken daughter under one arm. Stopping a way's from the group they all ignored the villages as they slowly emerged from the hiding places when they felt the danger had passed.

 

“Thank you for coming to our aid.” The headman began shakily, then continued on with a more steady voice. “If you had not come when you did I shudder to think what that beast would have done to my little girl. You may all stay here for how long you wish as my thanks and gratitude.”

 

While the others stayed in the village to rest up Sesshoumaru went back to Hoshiko who was still with his ward and kit with Jaken and Ah-Un nearby as well. Entering the clearing they were all sat in he cocked a brow at the sleeping Jaken before his ward and mate came up and hugged him. Patting Rin on the head he watched her retake her seat next to the kit before joining his mate sitting at the base of a tree.

 

While the others stayed the night at the village inn Sesshoumaru and his group slept outdoors in the warm night air.
