Chapter 2
~*~*~*~*~*~*~4 years later*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
A now 17 year old Kagome walked to school with her head down. She hated going to school right after a beating, but couldn't do anything about it. At school she was made fun of because of the way she acted. She was always quiet and didn't have any friends, when she wasn't wearing a uniform, she wore baggy pants and shirts, (hand me downs from her drunken father), and never let anyone see her face. Now it wasn't that she was ugly, actually far from it. Her mother always said she was a beautiful child, and so did her friends when she had some. Just thinking about what her mother told her made her cry. That one horrible day exactly four years ago this Saturday, change her life forever. After the funeral Tishio and Kagome moved to the suburban part of Tokyo, by her school. They lived across the street from a shrine, and had very little neighbors.
Tishio beat up on Kagome now more then ever, but there wasn't as much physical abuse as there was verbal and emotional abuse. It was disgusting the way he treated her and made her feel. He made her feel like a worth-less slut. He even sometimes convinced her that she was the cause of her mother's death. Even though she'd remember that it was he who killed her she couldn't help but realize if it wasn't for her mothers will to protect her and get her away from Tishio then maybe her mom might have still been alive.
Since the day that her mom died she vowed she would never forget her, no matter what, and that she'd go to her gravesite every year, and she'd manage to keep that promise every year without getting caught by her father some how. The distance from her new home and her mother's grave site was not as far as many expected. It was approximately a 30 minute drive/bus drive and a 3 hour walk. Usually she didn't have enough money to ride so she walked, 'it is nice get away from father every once in awhile.' she told her-self as she got the school building.
"These trips down memory lane have got to stop, I'm going to wind-up crying in school and I don't wan that." She told her-self, while entering the school.
"Oh, look its crazy Kagome, and she's talking to her-self. Gee, I thought she was mute." a popular jock said out-loud, making sure she heard. If any one actually got a good look at her face at any given time, they probably wouldn't tease her, but no one ever saw how pretty she was or knew of her terrible home life. Only the fact that in a year she would leave that hell-hole of a house kept her going every day, but even that was getting weak, and un-reliable. Sure she could tell someone but first she would have to face the wrath of her dad, and then second, being the school out-cast made it likely that the other students and some hostile teachers think that she was making it up or wouldn't care, or even if that was not true she still didn't want to face her father, so she kept quiet.
Walking to first period, head down, due to the still red, and puffy cheek from that morning's punch for forgetting to put the right amount of sugar in Tishio's coffee, she was yet again pushed, hard into a locker. Wincing from the harsh contact the locker metal had with her shoulder, (bruised shoulder), she hurried to class before the bell rung. Being late, would mean unwanted attention from her class-mates, and teacher.
As she sat down in her seat the bell rung, causing her teacher to clear his throat to bring the class to his attention. As Kagome lifted her head a little, and peeking through her bangs, another caution for unwanted attention, saw a sight that surprised her, new students. One girl, very pretty, one cute boy with black hair and violet eyes, and one very hot boy with silver hair, and strikingly beautiful golden-amber eyes. Kagome's eyes widened, she never saw a boy this cute, man, she never even looked at boys that way. She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she missed the whole greeting process,
"Higurashi, would you mind giving me an explanation as to why you did not greet Sango Horaiku, Miroku Hoshi, and Inuyasha Hiragana, our three new students?" the teacher asked while pointing to the tree teens by mention of name.
"No, I'm sorry Totousia-sensai, I do not," she said barely above a whisper, so softly that everyone, save Inuyasha, could hardly hear her.
"Oh, is that so, well since you didn't greet them you have the task of taking them on a tour of the school, and be their guide for a week. If I'm correct they have the same schedule as you, so there should be no problem with classes. The four of you are dismissed." The teacher told the new students and Kagome. This, Kagome decided, was not going to be a day where she can stay quiet and not be bothered, in short it was not going to be a good day!
