Chapter 4 :

The end of Naraku and decision

 

 

 

Everyone have their eyes locked on Kouga and Ayame. They seem to be really shocked. The two wolfs exchange glances before the young prince decides to start to speak after take a profound breath :

 

- We are really sorry to be late Lord Sesshomaru

 

And they take place around the table too. The others don't even blink, they are still shocked from the « spectacle » they just see between the wolfs and the Miko.

Kouga don't say anything else and look at every people sit at the table. After look at the face they do, he cannot help a smirk. At that, the others come back from the shock (and really noisely)

 

- What was that all about prince Kouga ?!?

 

- You look and you speak at her like if she was at our level, this fiftly human!

 

- A human as your mate ?! Don't are you ashamed to even one second trought of that ?

 

- Why your two stupid men called her sister ?

 

- From where do you know that Miko ?

 

- Were you there during the fight against Naraku ?

 

- It's enought ! yell Sesshomaru, massing his temples

 

Kouga look at him like to ask if he can speak, because even if he is really impulsive normally he is not suicidal to make the Lord of the castle more mad than he is already. Feeling his glance on him, Sesshomaru just nodded quietly his head without even look at anyone. Kouga take that for an indication to explain the situation to the others Lords and Ladys

 

- so… To start, I know her more or less in the same way than Lord Sesshomaru : because she travelled with mutt… I mean InuYasha. Ginka and Hakkaku call Kagome sister since the day she help to save my tribe from the paradise birds.

I called her my woman because yes I wanted her for my mate, after this day. Even if she is human, she is a really powerful miko and she could see the shards…now she is again the guardian of the whole Shikon no Tama. I think you have felt the jewel, haven't you ?

 

- Yes we can fell a power close to the power of the Shikon but she don't have the jewel around her neck and I'm sure she doesn't have any pocket on this indescent and ridiculous clothes of hers !

 

Kouga smirk and open his mouth to answer but before he can say a thing

 

- The jewel is inside her body

 

With a gasps, every glances turn towards Lord Sesshomaru who just speak.

 

- What do you mean it is in her ??

 

- May be, says Kouga, … don't ask me why but when the fight end and the Shikon completed again, the jewel inter itself in her body…and from what I heard from hers companions, it was in her before to be reduce in shards. But you have to ask her for more explainations. I'm sure she will answer your questions.

And yes I was there during that fight, the last fight against Naraku…like Lord Sesshomaru, his brother and all that « gang » who was with Kagome.

 

- Was ? ask the pregnant youkai

 

- Hai …mmhm… InuYasha died during the fight, giving his life to save his brother (frowl of everyone) and from what I have heard, the others fell in an ambush apparently when they went back to the slayers' village, one week after.

 

- But how that half-breed ended with this Miko ?

 

- I don't really know the story but their group was really one of the most unbelievable : one hanyou, two youkais, a demon slayer, a houshi and a miko. But I'm sure it was because of Kagome that they were together to combine their force against a common enemy

 

- That doesn't change anything, it's a useless fiftly and weak human

 

- That's not true ! yells Ayame

So you don't know that's her and only her who is responsable of the destruction of this evil Naraku

 

- What really happened during this fight ?

 

Kouga stay silent for some seconds like reflecting if yes or no he will answer and explain what happened and finally take the decision and turn his head towards the end of the table

 

- Lord Sesshomaru, can I relate it or do you prefer to do it yourself ?

At that he watch the others : when you will have hear the story, you will understand why it is surely a don of the god that she come here only for help us.

 

- Like we need her help !

 

- So you don't understand that if she wanted that she could have kill everyone here before that you have the time to do anything. The power that she have in her now is unbelievable but I'm afraid that if she can't control it soon it will be dangerous for her too. But like I know her, this fact will not prevent her to try to help.

 

He says that with something like regrets in his voice in the end of his sentence. He is really anxious for her safety. For everyone whom was present during their conversation, it was really clear that he didn't want and somewhere do want the little Miko only because of her power like he said but because of something more…personal. You can see it when he looks at her. His eyes softed everytime he raise his glance on her. You can see it by the way he speak at her and even now you can see his eyes show emotions everytimes he speaks her name.

 

- take your time to reflect before reject her help only because she is human. She is really different from the others like you can see… Do you know a lot of human and worse human with miko powers who protect and bring up a little youkai like if it is hers own blood. Her heart is so pure that it is dangerous for herself…to see the good in anyone, concluded Ayame quietly

 

Every youkai in the room listen attentively and for one of the Ladys, it's start to become difficult to contain her curiosity

 

- Can you relate what happened during the fight ? If it is ok with you Lord Sesshomaru.

 

She don't receive an answer but the wolf prince take it for a yes and start :

 

- ok I will relate what I see but you have to know that I wasn't here when the fight begin and I will speak about only the end of the fight…of what you have to know…

The fight against Naraku last for a moment already and all the fighters start to feel the tiredness and they are injured. Even Kagome who stay out of the center of the battle to protect Shippo and Rin, close to Ah-Un have bruises and an injury on one arm.

 

Sesshomaru fight directly with Naraku. His previously pure white clothes are bloody and it is difficult to say which part is his own blood and which part from the youkais he already killed.

 

Close from where he stand, InuYasha and Kouga fight with three offsprings of Naraku. They seem to be really tired. You can see that InuYasha have a lot of injuries everywhere on his body and a really important one on his chest. He seems to have some difficulties to even breath because of it but that can't stop him to fight…he already fight and win battles with injuries worse than this one. What really makes him angry is that these offsprings are only here to prevent them to fight against Naraku too. Yes that really make him angry…he want to be the one who will kill Naraku and he is not incline to let his brother do it. Another tiny part of him is a little anxious for his brother…he seems to be badly injuried too and he fight alone…no one have the right to kill or injure his brother beside himself.

 

On the other side, you can see Sango and Miroku fight against an army of lower youkais. The battle last for a long moment and they start to have difficulties to stay on their feet. Miroku have a lot of bruises everywhere on his body. Some parts of his clothes which was previously purple and blue are dark crissom. He has a serious injury on his left arm and because of that have difficulties to still use his staff. His blood run freely from this profound injury but also from one on his chest and back. He can't use his Kasaana for two reasons : the risk that if he open his Kasaana now he will never be able to close it, it will absobe him and all his friends around him in it and the second reason is these fucking bees all around the place !

Sango have a long and profound injury on one of hers thighs. She try to do not put her weigh on this leg because she knows that if she do that she will fall on the soil. She have more and more difficulties to use her Hiraikotsu. Beside some bruises she have a triple injury make by claws in her back. Her slayer clothes are really badly rip up.

 

- So it is all that the Lord of the Western Lands can afford…pathetic

 

After that, Naraku throw a lot of tantacles torwards Sesshomaru. He barely dodge everyones of them. At this moment, he fell someone beside him…a youkai trying to kill him when he doesn't look that make him really angry. What he doesn't know that it was a trap… when he turn around to defend himself against this youkai…

 

- the fight end here for you Lord Sesshomaru

 

With that, a tentacle go right toward his heart and it is too late for him to dodge this one. But at the moment of the fatal blow…he doesn't feel anything…it is not Sesshomaru but InuYasha who is pinned by the tentacle which pierce his chest and back.

 

Yes, at the moment he see that his brother will be blow without anytime to protect himself, InuYasha killed the last youkai before him and jump in front of his brother.

 

For the first time, you can see all Sesshomaru's face show emotions : surprise

 

- InuYasha !!!! yells Kagome and run toward him. She catch him before he touch the soil

 

- Inuyasha…

 

- Ka…gome

 

- Ssh…save your force we have to transport you to Kaede. You will see everything will be ok. She says, crying, her voice quavering

 

- No Kagome…

 

Some blood start to fall from his mouth. At that, Kagome yells

 

- No !!! you don't have the right to die like that…don't die on me…you have to live

Please Inuyasha… don't leave me

She cries.

 

- Don't cry, you know…you know that I don't like it…I have some…thing… to say to you. Kagome I…(he hiss in pain)…L…Love you. I'm sorry of all the pain I cause to you because of Kikyo and…

 

She puts fingers on his mounth

 

- you don't have to excuse yourself… it is the past…. InuYasha … I love you too

 

- Thank you Kagome (with a smile) to have been at my side all the time until now even when I didn't want

 

- Don't leave me !

 

- No, I will always be with you

 

He raize his glance towards the person just behind her. A little smile appear on his lips because of the shocking face of his brother just before the impassible mask put on again

 

- I will say hello for you to Father

 

He watch again Kagome

 

- Kagome (and in a breath) bye

 

He close his eyes and stop to breath

 

- No !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

She colapse on him crying, crying…

At this moment, they hear someone burst out laughing

 

- Ahahah….it is so touching ! it make me almost shed a tear… almost. Answer me, Lord Sesshomaru, how it is to see your half-breed brother give his life for you ? hn ?? Strange isn't it ? You tried to kill him almost everytime you see him and he died to save your life….Pathetic. And the declaration, I think I will bring up !

 

The others start to come close to Kagome and the body of their friend InuYasha.

Slowly Kagome raise. Her eyes are closed and not a sound come out of her now but tears still run free on her cheeks.

She pass the body of InuYasha and continu to walk toward Naraku.

 

- What is it Kagome, my little Miko ? A problem ?

 

She doesn't answer, her bow and arrows fall on the soil, she don't even stop

 

- Kagome !!! cry Sango

But Miroku hold her back. Something is not right with their young friend. But he doesn't really know what.

Kagome finish to make a stop, not far away from Naraku

 

Without a second, the air around her seems to become electric. Her hair and clothes move and flap with a little wind which blow on her, only on her.

 

Little by little her aura become visible. A fierce pink glow all around her body. And she open her eyes.

Her aura and powers flare…becoming more powerfull more suffocating and, in her eyes, you can see a pink flame dancing.

Naraku flinch and start to scream

 

Everyone look at each others, they don't know what happening.

 

Kagome raise an arm, palm towards the sky.

 

Naraku screams in pain more loudly at that you can see a bright little light coming from his body and this light pierce his chest and come toward her : the jewel

 

The part of the jewel which was inside him started to be purified inside his body just because Kagome was near, no need to touch it. The Shikon no Tama come to her and come in her extent hand.

 

- Bitch ! the jewel is mine. You can't do anything against that you pathetic fiftly human. I will kill you stop playing now, your precious InuYasha can't save your life now. What do you feel knowing that he is now with the only person he want to be with : Kikyo (with a smirk)

 

But Kagome don't say a thing, her eyes still dancing with a pink flame of her power

Naraku leave a lot of miasma fly every where. Sango and Miroku start to have difficulties to breath and even kouga and Lord Sesshomaru cover their nose. Kagome have difficulties too but beside close her eyes she don't make even a move purifying a part of the miasma which come too close to her… everything must end today.

 

Naraku decide to attack now… he extend a tantacle and throw it towards her, tring to use the cover of the fog make by miasma. When she doesn't move, he smirk. The tantacle pierce her shoulder, but she doesn't leave the jewel fall.

 

You can hear a scream… but it was Sango. Kagome doesn't even say a word.

She extent the other hand, this time, palm toward him and eyes still closed. The wind blow more powerfull around her little form. at that she open her eyes again with an explosion of purity powers catching Naraku.

He screams in agony some seconds trying to fight against it, using his miasma and youki before turn in nothing, just ashes.

 

Kagome drop on her knees, tears still running on her face. She open the hand which contain the jewel…entierely purified. At this moment, the shards she had on her come itselves put together the jewel. Kohaku's shard come too from the poket of Sango. Kouga hiss a little when the two shards on his legs go out too…….. The jewel is now complete again, fly before her, the light disappear and the jewel fall on the soil.

 

Kagome put her hands on the grass and start to subb again…and she close her eyes and scream. At that a vague of purity explosed in every direction, sending every people away from her, killing the last low youkais still alive and destroying the youkais who had fall.

After the explosion and the pain from her injuries, she fall on the ground, unconscious. The jewel light again fly and insert itself on her body. It is the last thing Kouga saw before be unconscious too.

The vague of purity was so powerfull that she send him crash on a tree, and it is the same for the others…even Sesshomaru was surprised.

 

When Kouga regain conscious, some seconds later, Kagome is still unconscious with everyone around her.

Slowly, she open her eyes

 

- Kagome !!! cry Shippo, jumping on her

 

Little by little the events of the day come back on her mind and she see the unmoving body of her love. Miroku just had the time to protect his body before the purification.

 

Tears appear again in her eyes.

She rize and walk, with difficulties because of tiredness, toward Sesshomaru who is still there because Rin didn't want to go before be sure Kagome was right.

 

- Bring him back

 

He watch her with his always cold golden eyes but say nothing

 

- please, I…I beg you…Bring him back please….use the Tensaiga

 

she ends by falling on her knees before the body of InuYasha with Sesshomaru just behind her.

Sesshomaru look at his brother then at his sword. But the Tensaiga doesn't say anything which mean …

 

- I can't do anything, miko

 

- what ?! (she says, returning on her feet, looking at the Lord in the eyes) What do you mean you can't ? Bring him back, bring him back, bring him back

 

she says again and again hitting the Lord on the chest each time. He stay without say a thing until he catch her by her wrists

 

- stop that, Miko

 

- so bring him back, please

 

- Tensaiga can be use only when she wants and only one time. You can play with the death

 

With that, he turn and start to walk out of the battlefield.

 

- But…

 

Her voice broke, she remember now

 

- Tensaiga already revive InuYasha once ? ask Miroku more for himself

 

Kagome look at the ground, hidding her eyes with her hair

 

- the day of his birth…. InuYasha's father use the Tensaiga on his mother and may be him…

 

No one say a word during some minutes…until Kagome jerk her head

 

- The Jewel, where it is ? where…

 

She stops, feeling something. She put one hand on her…she can feel it but how it is inside her body again

 

- How …

 

- It inter your body when you was inconscious, by itself. May be, i twill more secure inside you soi t retake its previous place

 

Kagome jump on her feet, surprising everyone, and run toward where was the bodies of some youkais and take a kniff

 

- Kagome, no !!!!

 

- Please…make it go out again… I have to make a wish

 

But nobody make a move to do that for her so she decides to do it herself. All of them start to scream around her and run toward her.

 

She let the kniff fall on the ground and fall on her knees

She murmur :

 

- I can't do that…the wish will not be selfishness

 

She rize again and go to InuYasha and collapse on him

 

- I beg you…please forgive me…I can't bring you back…everything which happened was my fault…please forgive me

 

And she cry. Sango come near her and sit like she can besause of her injuries close to her. Kagome throw herself in her arms and cry…cry like she never have cried before. But sudenly, she stops, the tears still running

 

- Something wrong, Kagome-chan ?

 

- Where ? How ? … Naraku ?

 

- I don't know. You walk toward him and waves of purity powers errupt from you… Your power, I never feel power like yours Kagome, … so powerfull. You purified him without even touch him

 

- Kagome-sama (and wait they look at him, for start) I don't know how it is possible but your aura is a lot more powerfull than before. I don't know how to explain that…it is like if your pain and angry had free part of your powers which was still sleeping in you…and it is strange but it is like it is not the limit still

 

Silence.

 

Kagome turn her head to Sango : Sango-chan, I'm sorry for Kohaku (Kouga was not herec at this moment but just when the fight begun, Naraku took the shard which was on his back, so he is dead)

Kagome slowly close her eyes again and fell unconscious.

 

- She is exausted, too mush power. We have to go to see Kaede-sama and say to her…everything is finished.

- After that, Kagome disappeared and the others went to the slayers' old village to buring the boy. From what I heard, three bear youkais attacked them during their travel. They don't stay at the village of the miko Kaede so I suppose they were still tired by the pain of the lost and the battle. I remember that they were injured. I don't really know the exact events, just that they are dead.

 

Everyone stay silencious like if they try to digest the informations.

After a moment, the pregnant youkai (Lady of the Northern Lands) say, more to herself than for anyone else :

 

- And after all that happened to her and her friends, she still wants to help us ?

 

Ayame turn her head toward her and give a little smile

 

- I don't really know all of what happened during their years of hunt against Naraku…All I know is that if one day I have a problem, i know she will be there to help me. I tried to killed her once, the first time, because I was jealous… but she was not mad at me, she even helped me. I never through about a friendship or any relationship of any sort with a human, beside kill them. She is the exception

 

The Lady of the Northern Lands say yes, pensively with the head before turn toward Sesshomaru

 

- Lord Sesshomaru can we heard the story of this Miko ?

 

- What ?? Don't say that you will accept the help of this fiftly human ?!?

 

- Lord of the Easthen Lands, for now, I just wish to hear her story. If the story of the battle against the evil Naraku is true, it is important to know her. What do you thing Lord Sesshomaru ? You are one of the people who know her for the most long period, aren't you curious to know the true about her ? Something which can explain why she is so different from the others ?

 

- Since when have you interest on the humans, Lady of the Northern Lands ?

 

She turn her head toward him, her eyes starting to taint in red

 

- I have not interest in humans at all. I hate them. But this little miko intrigue me. She seems different, she really smell different,… it is just curiousity

 

- I agree with you, mate, there is something different with this human and even if the human race leave me totaly indefferent, I wish to learn more about her. Prince Kouga or you Sesshomaru-sama, have you something more to say about her? You know her since years now, there is something you know which can explain why she is, she speak, she wear different from the others humans and of course an explaination of why her scent is so different from all the human I never see ?

 

- I don't know what to say to you, Lord of the Northern Lands, the simplest thing is to ask her directly.

 

- But with will she answer our questions which can be dangerous for her ? ask the son of the Southern Lord.

 

Kouga look at him and smile, exposing his canine

 

- It is why she is unique. Why did she come here to speak with Lord Sesshomaru in his own house who tried to kill her many times ? Why she come here to afford her aid for save the youkais when most of the youkais who cross her road try to kill her ?

 

- She is crazy !

 

- No, may be it is only because she can see the good in anyone. Help and make the others happy, protect the mis what she wish to do in her life and for her there is no different if you are youkai, hanyou or human. She never judge (smirk) and it is more bizarre since she is a miko, who are normaly train to hate anything which are not human. In another hand, she never have a training.

 

Lord Sesshomaru stay silent since the beginning and listen attentively everything which is speak around him. When he awoke this morning, never will he have guess of what would come of this reunion, and it is only the beginning !

 

He have to acknowledge, even if this make him sick but he is intrigued too. Since the first time this little miko croos his road, she never was afraid of him. Finally, he take the decision to satisfied his curiosity.

The idea of his brother who is dead, coming back from the death to see her and make her come here precisely today leave him perplexed but perhaps knowing things from her past will help this Sesshomaru to understand why she is not afraid of him. So many questions about only a ningen make him really mad and after he will never thing about her and may be kill her. Yes, it is what he will do. His decision is taken.

 

- Jaken

 

- Hai, Sesshomaru-sama

 

- Make the Miko come back

 

- Hai, my Lord

 

He murmur something but when he heard the dead glare he stop instantly and run to seek the miko.
