Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha.
"This is dispatch calling Agent 35-I, come in, over."
He tapped his relay button on his head set to answer, "This is Agent 35-I, what's up?
Over."
"We've got a call that just came in that a Rouge is in the pursuit of two humans, one's already seriously injured. Over."
"Ten-four. Location?" Dispatch gave him the coordinates. Turning he ran and leaped of the edge of the building gaining momentum to restart his vigorous run. As he closed in the wind carried to him the decaying smell of bug... and death. He scowled, knowing innocent lives were at stake.
Inuyasha, grabbed the hilt of his sword as he came up on the location, he took the steps seven at a time, bounding up them at an inhuman speed. Narrowly missing a yellow backpack the size of Mount Fuji, he glanced up at the scene before him, it was a gruesome thing to behold. He hit his relay button, quietly, as not to notify the other youkai of his presence. "On site, requesting back-up. I'm engaging target, over."
He didn't wait for a response and unsheathed his sword. The sword blazed to life, doubling in size and width. Inuyasha analyzed the situation with trained eyes. A wounded female was limping to an older man, he could vaguely make out the outline of the little devils of the underworld dancing over him in anticipation. The coppery smell of blood wafted toward him, turning his stomach. He leaped in the air, using the element of surprise as a strategic advantage, but not before the demon threw the girl to the side like a rag doll.
"Kaze no Kizu!"
The wind-scar ripped through the youkai's body, the youki released from his demon sword attacked it's skin with brutal accuracy, destroying it's rotting flesh and obliterating what remaining soul was still attached to it's bones. The centipede's cry of pain lingered for only a few short seconds before even that too was gone.
After the air cleared nothing was left but it's skeleton. Inuyasha landed shortly after his blast, sheathing his sword as he ran over to the closest victim to him, which was the young girl. Her tiny body was contorted where she landed, laying partially on her side. Her hair was flipped over her face, obscuring it from view. The smell of her blood was curious thing to him, the smell was somehow sweet albeit it still held that sharp metallic undertone. The mixture did not sit well with him however, it meant she could be in serious trouble. Gently he cupped the back of her neck and turned her. Most of her hair was matted to her skull with her blood, but what wasn't fell away from her face, revealing an ugly bleeding gash by her hairline. Her head was slightly tilted, allowing him to get a good look at the long line of her neck, there was no bruising or breakage that his keen eyes could detect. He sat her up slightly, allowing his arm to prop her up, he ran a hand over her spin, nothing there was cracked or misshapen. The strange sensation of relief spiraled through him, that was before he noticed her labored breathing. She either had a broke rib or a badly bruised ribcage, but besides that and a busted ankle she'd recover with little lasting injuries. Her memory though, was not something so easily healed, he knew.
Her picked her up gently, cradling her small body into his much larger one, careful of her injured ankle. He made his way over to the dieing male, as he approached him, another older female, who smelled of this girl slightly, bursted from a sliding door on the side of the building. She stopped dead where she was as she saw him holding her broken daughter and turned a color no human ever should as her eyes fell to her bloody kin. Her hands flew up to her mouth as she tried desperately to breath, her wide frightened eyes glanced back up to him.
"Is..." she gasped, "Is she okay?"
He nodded at her. "She's fine."
"Is he...?" She looked down to her husband.
Inuyasha couldn't look her in the eye as he shook his head. He didn't have the heart to lie to her, even if it was for just a few moments. The human was still breathing, but not for long. His body had lost too much blood. He'd be dead with in the next few moments.
"He hasn't much time..." He told her in a gruff voice.
"Oh Gods..." She stumbled from the steps and scrambled to the broken and bloody body.
Inuyasha could only watch on the sidelines at the last few intimate moments of this man's life.
His wife brought her hands to his face, "Haru?"
His eyes fluttered open, even that looked difficult for him. "Hey, baby." He gave her a weak smile.
Tears slipped from her eyes and landed on his face, "Hey." She failed to give him one in return.
Haru's eyes became glassy, "I'm sorry," a gross gurgling sound came from his throat. "I didn't think... I thought I'd have more time... Baby I'm so sorry." He coughed violently, blood spattering on her blouse. He sucked in huge amount of air, obviously going into shock.
She hushed him, "It's okay, you're okay." She tenderly brushed a few of his sweat-soaked hairs from his eyes.
He closed his eyes, his breath coming more slowly with longer and longer spans between each.
He turned then, his blue irises burning into Inuyasha's own. The words came slowly, painfully so. "Thank you." Another breath. "I saw you save her." Another breath. "Take good care of them,my baby-girl."
Inuyasha nodded curtly, "You have my word."
Satisfied he turned to his wife and stroked her tear-stained cheek, whispering something to her. He took one last shuddering breath before he left this world.
The cries of those he left behind filled the cool evening air.

~ Chapter Two ~
Inuyasha bounced from building, pushing off the rooftops with such force it launched him into the air. The wind whistled by as he continued to 'run' through the city. The beeping from his radio sounded and stopped abruptly on a random rooftop to listen to what the female on the other end was saying."This is dispatch calling Agent 35-I, come in, over."
He tapped his relay button on his head set to answer, "This is Agent 35-I, what's up?

AN:
w00t! Numero Dos! All in one day! I'm fairly satisfied with this chapter. I would love feedback because I can always make it better. =] I also realize these last two chapters are kind of dragging but they're important to the plot AND to Inu's and Kag's relationship. -wink-I also still need that beta... =/
