Chapter 4

Kagome bounded down the stair and out the shrine yard, past the sacred tree and over to the well. Clutching the Shikon jewel that had never left her neck over the years and jumped down the stairs of the well house. She looked down it, looking down into the darkness she remembered from so long ago, and jumped in. Feeling the waters of time take her back as it did back then, `I guess the well didn't seal after all, thank Kami.”

How she missed the waves of time, with all the swirling colors and cooling sensation it gave her, even now.

As she touched the ground, she looked up, not seeing the well house roof… but the starry sky.

“I'm back.” She whispered. Grabbing onto a vine that grew down the inside and pulling her self up, she then gazed at the sight that had not changed at all. The village was still there in its full glory, it was now just slightly bigger. Over to the border of the forest, sat another hut. Someone had decided to live upon this very hill, though this did not concern her, nor did she really care.

She walked down the path she had done so long ago. Seeing a young girl with a baby slung across her front and a child no older than five walking with her.

“Excuse me can you help me?” Kagome called to her.

The young girl had to be no older than 16, “Yes how can I help you?” She asked.

“I'm looking for Kaede, is she still here?”
”Afraid not, she had left earlier this morning to a neighboring village to help with a birth, and we are not certain when she will return.”
”I see then maybe you can tell me something?”
”Yes?” She said with a smile
”I'm looking for an old friend of mine. Inuyasha? Is he around here by any chance?”
”I am sorry to say, but no.” The young girl said, Kagome started to feel upset, “He and the young kitsune must be with the monk and demons layer in the meadow up north from here. You may find him there.” She said.

Kagome looked up at the girl once more and smiled, “Those two are still together?” She asked.

“Yes they are, word goes on that they have twins.” Kagome looked at her with wide eyes, but smiled.

She bowed and thanked her and left.

`It seems that lady Kagome has really returned to us after all.' She thought as she grabbed the five year olds hand and continued to head home.
