Disclaimer: Would you believe that I don't own any part of Ms. Takahashi's world! Waaah! Song and artist aren't even mine! That would be “After All”, the one and only fabulous, near perfection Cher, and her duet partner Peter Cetera - not to mention those stars that I couldn't quite catch…(grr, so, I missed a word?)

After a month passed she was on her way to recovering from her initial sadness upon returning from the Feudal Era.
He did say we would see each other again…
Still, she moped and was in a generally foul mood when she went through her daily classes. Inuyasha had never left her for long before; she hadn't seen him since after being handed the Shikon.
Inuyasha just doesn't lie!
Her heart refused to believe that his words were meaningless - and worse yet, heartless.
After six months passed, she finally relented and went with Hojou on that date he always kept harassing her for.
She discovered, with some concentration and effort on her part, that it wasn't so bad to hang out around him. In fact, she was almost certain that if her heart weren't nearly 500 years in the past, that there would be a strongly connected love between them that had developed; but as it was…
Hojou just isn't him!
She always compared the two, she supposed, but really, it was inevitable.
Whereas Inuyasha always pushed her into accomplishing his goals, Hojou never did. Whereas Inuyasha's heartache was shouldered outwardly, Hojou never voiced it when he was frustrated at her. Whereas Inuyasha only hugged her, Hojou kissed her often - and passionately, at that. In fact, sometimes the make-out sessions lasted a couple of hours.
//Well here we are again//
//I guess it must be fate//
After a year and a half, Inuyasha wasn't really forgotten, just left on the back burner, so to speak, since she was occupied with extracurricular social events involving Hojou, namely.
There was absolutely nothing virgin about her anymore… of that fact, there was no doubt whenever Hojou held her. Amazingly, he wasn't so ignorant about the world so much as she originally believed.
How did we ever get involved like this?
She tried to remember the circumstance that led to their first time together, but there were so many memories meshed together that a singly distinguishable recollection was fuzzy at best.
After three years, after a particularly wonderful day at college, she learned Hojou had an incredibly interesting wild side - and that one of her friends was bisexual.
She never figured Ayume swung like that. As though that weren't enough, she her self had developed a flirty curious attraction for the woman her self. Hojou had some ideas regarding that… and they were fulfilled in a hotel resort away from her family members.
They never knew about that incident - or the ones thereafter. It was their quiet secret. Not even Hojou suspected such a one time event would turn into a long term relationship between the two women.
The first time she felt her heart leap in her chest again… and she didn't deny its existence.
//We've tried it on our own//
//But deep inside we've known - //
//We'd be back to set things straight//
After a total of five years, her studies started to increase with difficulty once again.
Then, Ayume decided to call off their affair; Hojou announced that he wanted to break up with her upon his graduation. Later, about three months past surviving apart from those she came to depend upon, she discovered Hojou and Ayume ended up together in the back seat of his Jaguar - and that she was pregnant with his child.
Go figures… fate is against me.
That had been a particularly difficult day to get through. Heart ripped from her chest, breath stolen from her lungs, she drudged through the next month like a sloth… and how she hated the gossip that spread through her class about how those two were so-o-o perfect for each other.
They compliment each other? Hah!
//I still remember when your kiss was so brand new//
//Every memory repeats//
A year after that, she met up with a familiar face - green eyes and red hair at a family festival that she went to with her brother.
Shippo???
She normally would have been ecstatic, but figured anything she said would betray her true feelings.
There was guilt now - but for the first time, in a long time, she started to hope again.
He was gorgeous, really. Memory skewed, she never thought she would feel butterflies fluttering and churning her insides around; her stomach twisted and her breath hitched.
“You've grown up, Shippo.”
After that interlude of exchanging introductions, she deserted Souta with half of the cash she saved in her purse and departed from the outing.
He had smiled then hugged her and taken her on vacation to a beach far away… and the innocent kiss to her cheek led from an ancient acquaintance she never before dreamed of turned her knees to jelly as he warmed her with his touch. Her weekend had been daring and adventurous; sinking, rising, waning and waxing like the moon he explored her body and made her cry several times - with wanton joy.
“Don't worry Kagome, you're safe with me, I swear.”
“What about the others?”
“Kouga? He's had a few litters of wolf cubs and still remains with Ayame. As for Sesshoumaru - he wanted to talk with you for awhile - though I don't know why, but he does seem kinda pissed about something.”
She avoided asking about other people - demons, half demons. Figuring that they - he - would have been mentioned if he were around, she refrained from asking that nagging question. She didn't want to think about it while in Shippo's arms as he did wonderful things to make her respond to his advances.
Caressing, kissing, he kindled and reignited the fire in her stomach; then the conversation died. Ignoring the stinging ache in her heart when he rolled her beneath him again, she indulged her self to this new attraction.
//Every step I take retreats//
//And the journey always brings me back to you//
Half a year after reuniting with Shippo, she abandoned him for Sesshoumaru's affections. Shippo apparently was unsurprised - and unfazed - by her actions; dismissing the possibilities and devoting her time else where, she allowed her self to tumble and fumble as the seductive music in his voice pulled her under his mesmerizing spell.
But she understood him - to some degree. Rin had lived to a ripe old age of about eighty years old which was quite an accomplishment - even in this era, she calculated. He had gone through a lot - most of which was shared in secret. Though she couldn't determine why, somehow, she had been bewitched by Sesshoumaru's attention.
Never thought I'd ever hear Sesshoumaru spout poetry.
While there was love for someone else confined in the dark graves of her heart somewhere nagging at her for betraying the trust and loyalty of another, it was buried as her body burned with ecstasy when he did that with his tongue. She had never experienced it before. Screaming into his silk sheets, she ignored her heart.
//When love is truly right//
//It lives from year to year//
Two years after landing a top dollar job, she was surprised at her graduate work won multiple university awards and was recognized at the banquet following the graduate ceremony.
As dinner concluded, Sesshoumaru pulled her away to some place private and proposed to her.
That had definitely been a shocker.
//Changes as it goes… and on the way it grows//
//But it never disappears//
Five years after they married, they separated. Nothing personal, but she was more bitter than she figured she would be regarding their relationship. Sometimes his tastes went beyond exotic - not that she was precisely an angel, but his demands were overwhelming at best.
That was only one thing that bothered her, but she didn't want to think about the other reasons.
Right now, she felt like crap and willed her self to crawl into a hole, curl up and maybe die.
//After all the thousands stars//
//We keep coming back to these two hearts//
One day, shortly after her thirtieth birthday, she was visiting her aging mother, who had fallen ill, and cursed as she imagined catching a glimpse of red in her peripheral vision.
Man, it's been a long week…
She was hallucinating again - except for this time, it was while walking awake instead of her nighttime dreams.
//Two angels who've been rescued from the fall//
//After all that we've been through//
//It all comes down to me and you//
“Kagome.”
She spun around.
“Inuyasha?”
It had been awhile, that was certain. He looked more mature… more definitive with his choices - and that hadn't been all, she noticed.
He's really here?
Blinking several times, she reached out to take his hand in hers.
//I guess it's meant to be//
//Forever you and me after all//
He sniffed the air and narrowed his eyes slightly in confusion. Cringing and gritting her teeth, she backed up and narrowly missed falling down when she tripped over the bench that Goshinboku oversaw.
“It's been almost fifteen years,” she started, as she dusted off her jeans.
“Only ten for me.”
“Are you - ”
“Kikyo made the wish today. I'm home for good. And you can never leave me again.”
//Always just beyond my past//
//ThoughI needed you sobad//
//After all else I was living for…//
“Forgive me.”
Crying, she fell into his embrace while he kissed away her tears.
