Three months had passed since Rin had met Kyoutsu at the river bank, and since then they had spent almost every day spending time together. They picked fruit together, went on short hikes, fished in the river, and helped out around the village together. Kyoutsu was taken with Rin; her smile, her hair, her eyes, the cute innocent jokes she made. The way she looked at nature was different than anyone. She always had to make him notice the beautiful sunset, or the grand mountains, or the way the flowers in the fields moved together in the wind, like they were dancing.
.
.
He had heard about Sesshomaru from rumors around the village, and sometimes Rin would talk about him, but he hadn't ever seen Sesshomaru himself, and thought of him as a wandering, simple demon who rarely passed by the village. He thought Rin simply entertained the demon by being polite when he spoke to her. That sounded like Rin, too polite for her own good, she let down her guard sometimes. It worried him.
.
.
.
Rin enjoyed Kyoutsu's company, and she was grateful for his friendship, especially since Sesshomaru hadn't been back to visit her in a while. That fact made her sad, but she had faith that he would come back soon and spend some time with her.
.
.
Today was a beautiful Spring morning, Kyoutsu and Rin were walking through a grove of trees together, picking the first plums and berries of the season. “Look at the sky!” Rin giggled running around through the grasses. “It's beautiful!” The warm wind picked up, blowing leaves and flower petals around. “Be careful Rin-san, don't slip.” Kyoutsu was so paranoid about being safe sometimes. “Take off your shoes and run with me, Kyoutsu-san! The grass is so soft!” She giggled, twirling around.
.
“Ne, that's dangerous Rin-san, there's rocks underneath. You shouldn't,” he said nervously. She waved it off, reassuring him with her bright smile.
.
.
Kyoutsu smiled back and knelt down, filling his basket with fruit. Rin ran up behind him and tilted her head down over his, her hair spilling over in front of his chest. He looked up, startled by her sudden appearance. The light of the sun was shining through her tresses, she looked beautiful. He looked at her in awe. “You're easy to sneak up on Kyoutsu-san!” she observed. But he was entranced by her large chocolate eyes staring straight into his. He stayed silent.
.
.
.
She noticed a strange expression on his face. She's stayed leaning over him. “Hm?” she murmured. He blushed and pushed upwards and kissed her. Her eyes grew wide, and it was the biggest surprise of her life! Was this her first kiss?! Her mind was going one hundred miles a minute, but she stayed relaxed against him. `He's warm,' she thought blushing, holding the kiss.
.
.
He pulled away slowly after a moment, his entire face red. “Erm,” he looked down at the ground. “Forgive me, Rin-san.” She was still surprised, and took a place on the grass beside him. `Kyoutsu kissed me,' she kept thinking. She blushed again. They stayed quiet for a minute and Kyoutsu mentally bashed himself, `Darn it, why did I do that. She hated it.'
.
.
“Kyoutsu-san,” Rin said, breaking him away from his flustered thoughts. He looked at her nervously, “Hai, Rin-san?” She smiled and tilted her head, “I like you Kyoutsu-san.” It felt like a firework went off in his chest, and a large smile spread over his face, “I like you too, Rin-san!” He pulled her up off the ground and dusted his pants. “Let's keep picking fruit, ne?” She nodded. For the rest of the time, he held her hand and they continued down the grove together. It was a very romantic scene, they had privacy in the beauty of the fruit trees, and could see their village down the hill.
.
.
Rin felt strange, happy and warm and excited but nervous and anxious at the same time. This was new to her, and it felt like everything had happened so fast. She had so many questions of course. Was Kyoutsu her boyfriend now or something? Was he going to kiss her again? Was she supposed to do something or say something? She stayed quiet mostly the rest of the morning, and only smiled and nodded at him when he asked her things.
.
.
`That was my first kiss,' she thought. She had to tell Kagome-san, and Sango-san and Kaede........she had to tell Sesshomaru-sama!
.
`I have to tell Sesshomaru-sama...' she pondered, furrowing her brows. Why did that feel like a bad idea suddenly? She always told Sesshomaru-sama everything.
.
.
Sesshomaru's perfect lips flashed through her head in a second. She blushed furiously, what was that thought for?
.
.
“Are you alright, Rin-san?' Kyoutsu asked, pulling her out of her thoughts. “Hai!” she nodded, waving away his worry. His kind eyes made her feel warm and fuzzy. “Ah, watch your step Rin,” he said. They returned down the hill, hand in hand, to the village, with their fruit pickings.
