Chapter 8
.
**note: sesshy is coming in the story dont worry! it'll all be great! :D
.
In the following months after the dragon episode, and Rin's provocative dream, Kagome spent her time convincing Rin that Inuyasha was willing to go hunting for Sesshomaru.
.
Rin knew Inuyasha didn't want anything to do with the situation, and she felt awful ever asking him to do such a thing. It made her feel selfish. After all, to a demon like Sesshomaru, it must have felt like he'd just seen Rin a few minutes before.
.
But to a human...well, it felt like forever. It took a long time to convince Rin to involve the stubborn hanyou.
.
Then after she finally agreed to ask, Inuyasha politely refused.
.
.
*Flashback*
“Not this again!” he jumped up from the dinner table, almost knocking over his soup bowl. His job was to be a good husband to Kagome, nanny for Rin (feh!), and protect the village from demons...and entertain Miroku and Sango's twins on most Friday evenings (Argh! They never left his dog ears alone damnit!). Kagome angrily smacked him with a rolled up table mat, “Why did I ever remove your sacred necklace? I should “sit” you for being so inconsiderate!” Rin apologized profusely then excused herself from dinner. She had expected that reaction.
.
.
.
It took a few more months after that before Inuyasha decided enough was enough. He was under constant nagging from Kagome about finding that damn Sesshomaru. All he ever heard were little puns about Sesshomaru, and hints about Sesshomaru...damnit she'd even made him alphabet soup from Tokyo with “Sesshomaru please” spelled out in it. He would take a few days to hunt down that bastard brother of his and be back in time for a good, hot bowl of Ramen....no hints, no nags, no alphabets...FOREVER! At least that was his mindset. And then after that damn tai-youkai chatted with Rin for a minute or two, he'd kill him with his Tessaiga for giving him so much grief!
.
.
.
Rin was shocked, and ecstatic when she heard the news. “Oh Lord Inuyasha! Do you really mean it?” she asked, smiling widely and jumping around happily. It was officially almost two years since she'd last seen the noble dog lord. Since the dragon episode she hadn't spoken much about him, and she definitely hadn't spoken or seen much of Kyoutsu either. She was now fifteen years old and mostly just followed Kagome everywhere, and the miko didn't mind.
.
.
.
(Note: I'm too lazy to go back to the other chapters to increase Rin's ages, so that this timeline makes sense. Let's just say Naraku's death she was 10. Sesshomaru's last visit she was 13. Kyoutsu came around when she was 14-ish. Now she's 15! I'm trying to get her to be a teen already! Work with me! Thanks!)
.
.
.
(P.S. Sorry for any confusion!)
.
.
Inuyasha shrugged while Kagome packed him some supplies. “I wish I could go with you Inuyasha...” Kagome voiced. “Sango, Miroku and Kaede need you here for now. It's settled,” he said. “Not to mention you gotta look after her too.” He motioned to Rin, who grimaced and bowed her head. “No point draggin' Sesshomaru back here if she's been eaten by a demon or somethin'.”
.
.
Rin balled her fists anxiously. She'd been careful, extra careful for all these months not to cause any trouble. In her mind, she was still trying to live down her Ah-Un fiasco. She swiftly grabbed Inuyasha's hand. “Wha-” he said, caught off-guard by her contact. “I promise I won't go wandering anywhere Lord Inuyasha! Just please...just let Lord Sesshomaru know that I miss him and....” Rin didn't know what else to say. What if Lord Sesshomaru didn't want to return to her, regardless of Inuyasha finding him?
.
.
She took a deep breathe, “And that I kept my promise!” Inuyasha nodded, “I will, Rin.”
.
“Well! You're all set Inuyasha!” Kagome said, handing him her yellow backpack stuffed with goods. Miroku and Sango had come to see Inuyasha off.
.
“Ahh, feels like old times eh Inuyasha?” Miroku said laughing, smacking Inuyasha's shoulder. “Except of course, you'll be traveling all alone and well, there's hardly any motivation for you.” Inuyasha punched him over his raven-haired head. “Idiot monk,” he fumed.
.
.
“Here, Inuyasha. The twins made you this,” Sango reached into her pink skirt wrap and hesitantly handed him a picture the twins had drawn. Inuyasha opened it curiously, “Hm, well that was nice...”
.
.
It was a colored stick figure picture of Inuyasha being eaten by a demon, and all the villagers were sad. And the little twins were there with a speech bubble saying, “We'll miss you Inu-sama!”
.
.
“What in the hells! What exactly did you tell them I was going off to do?!” he cried out at Sango. “I told them the truth but, you know kid's imaginations, heh,” Sango sweat dropped. He crumpled the picture in his hand snarling, “Spunky little punks! You guys are all acting like I'm going off to war or somethin'. I'm just going to find that son of a bitch and drag him back!”
.
.
.
“Inuyasha!” Kagome hissed, motioning at Rin's presence. “Oh....eh,” Inuyasha looked at her. Rin only smiled. She was so grateful for what Inuyasha was doing for her.
.
Kagome gave Inuyasha a hug and kiss and then he was off running towards the West. They all waved at him, yelling bits of encouragement.
.
.
“Goodluck Inuyasha!” Sango cried. “We'll miss you!” Kagome said. “You're the best, Lord Inuyasha!” Rin yelled, standing up on a fence, waving harder than anyone.
.
.
This was it, she was finally going to see her Lord Sesshomaru again! Any day Inuyasha would be back with him. With his keen senses, and Sesshomaru's distinct scent, he would track him down in no time at all!
.
.
“Rin, aren't you excited?” Kagome said smiling, after Sango and Miroku had left back to their home to their children. “I am! I can't wait!” Rin said twirling around Kagome. “Wait until he sees how much you've grown in the last two years, ne?”
.
.
.
Rin stopped twirling. She had grown, quite fast actually. She was more slender, much taller (she at least reached Kagome's shoulders), and her gorgeous dark brown hair was longer than ever. Her best feature was still of course her shining eyes, dark lashes and breath-taking smile. Her womanly shape had kicked in just a bit; it was enough to distinguish her from the little girl she used to be. The heart of gold wasn't a bad attribute either.
.
She was nervous though, jittery really. Had her Lord changed? Was he a different man than he used to be? And would he still have interest in her when he saw she wasn't the small girl who used to follow him around almost five years back? Or even, did he have a demon wife and family and that's why he had no time for a ningen anymore?
.
.
Kagome smiled kindly, noticing Rin's nervousness. She led her back to the house, “Why don't you sleep over for a few nights until Inuyasha returns? I could use the company!”
.
.
“You're the best Onee-san ever!” Rin yelled hugging her.
.
.
.

.
.
Note: Onee-san = sister.
They're not really sisters but..you get it.
.
.
Review if you can :D This story is a little slower than I would usually write but, I'm just trying to set everything up perfectly you know? Sesshomaru is coming soon I promise! Just hold on a while damnit! Poor Rin has been waiting two years! Feudal era life is hard and long! Like Sesshomaru's--AHEM....god I'm so perverted sometimes. I MUST BE STOPPED! *stabs self* xD
