To Give Me to You
Based on a True Story
By Ikiwi
And so here I am again, attempting to write another story, and this time, perhaps be motivated to actually continue writing it and finish it. Well now... this story is based on my life. I'm just simply subbing the characters from Inuyasha into my life, and perhaps adding a slight bit of spice to make it more interesting. However, I doubt I'll have to add much, considering my life is already plenty interesting enough on its own. Well now, Kagome shall be playing the part of me, and Inuyasha will be playing the part of... my ex boyfriend. Sango and Rin will play as my best friends.. however in real life, I actually have 3 best girls, but whatever, I'll narrow it down for the story's purposes. Sesshoumaru will be Inuyasha's older brother. In real life.. my ex has 3 older brothers, but whatever. No one wants to read about my real life, so I've gotta put it in Inuyasha terms. Anyways, I'll just get on with the story...
Enjoy!
Chapter 1
How did it come to this?
Kagome stood in front of the mirror staring blankly at the knife held limply in her right hand, flashes of his face, his voice, and his touch flickering through her mind. She could no longer cry; she had lost that luxury several months earlier after becoming immune to the constant pain that dwelled in her heart. The pain wasn't always there of course... sometimes it was shoved aside for a brief moment while she dreamed that maybe one day she would actually be happy. Maybe one day he could make her happy once again. It was amazing that a single person could cause so much emotion. At one time, Kagome had felt so peaceful and content at the thought of him. But the pure agony that tore at Kagome's soul every time she thought of him now was enough to break anyone down; and not a minute went by when she wasn't somehow haunted by him. It was enough to lead her to the point of where she was now; staring at a knife while standing in her bedroom in front of her mirror. How many times had she looked in that same mirror and seen his reflection in the background, sleeping on her bed or watching television? But now Kagome was quite alone, her bedroom window open, curtains blowing from the soft wind that slowly dissipated the smoke of marijuana.
She'd been smoking a lot lately, a new habit that she acquired approximately 3 months earlier. The numbing high helped to dull the pain, and it made her feel closer to him, considering he was quite the pot head himself. Originally she had begun smoking it only on special occasions; basically when she hung out with him. He couldn't care less of course if she smoked or not, but Kagome felt that if he would be high - she might as well be too. It's no fun being sober while the people around you aren't. Now she only smoked up to forget her pain, and to remember the few good memories that they'd shared. It helped her think too, about her whole life and just how fucked up everything really was. If you had of met Kagome a year earlier and told her of her future, she would laugh it off and most likely think you to be insane. Because at one time Kagome had the perfect life; she was relatively pretty with good grades - top academic in grade 9 to be exact. Her parents, for the most part, had got along and acted civil towards each other. She had amazing friends and amazing morals; no over-drinking, no smoking, and no sex before marriage - you know the deal. At one point in time, Kagome was the ideal student, friend, and daughter. Now neither her teachers, friends, or own mother really cared much for her. Almost everyone had given up on her, including him. So she continued staring at the knife in her hand; the same knife she carried with her at night when she had snuck out of her house to go see him. How Kagome longed to go back to believing in everything, and knowing nothing. How she longed to simply forget all about him, but without him she felt nothing at all, and in her opinion it was better to feel the pain. And if Kagome felt nothing, no emotion at all, she might as well be dead, because what type of person cannot feel emotion?
Wouldn't it be befitting? Wouldn't it be so easy? To forget all about him... and then end it all now? Kagome glanced up at herself, taking in her raven wavy hair and brilliant hazel eyes - slightly tinted red with the effects of the drugs. She took a deep breath and whispered to the emptiness of her bedroom,
“I've dreamt so long. I can't dream anymore. I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone... but the truth is I've been alone all along. I have lived... and have died for you...”

1 Year Earlier
7:03 am.
February 5th.
First day of semester 2 at St. Midoriko High School.
Groaning, Kagome sleepily rolled out of the warm sanctuary of her bed. She dragged herself over to her alarm clock that was placed on the other side of her bedroom, urgently pressing the `snooze' button before dropping back into her pillows. The whole point of setting her alarm on the other side of the room was so that she would be forced to actually get up in order to turn it off - however her plan was never quite as successful as she had desired. Either way, Kagome always ended up sleeping at least 10 minutes longer than she was supposed to, resulting in a constant rush and frenzy during the time before school started.
9 minutes later, after the infamous alarm clock had gone off for the second time that morning, Kagome was stepping into a steamy shower in order to fully wake up. After a stress free week off school for exam review, she needed to get into the familiar routine of getting ready each morning. She was now in her second semester of grade 10, with her marks in the high 80s and 90s range. Her life was great, except for her tendency to constantly be late for things such as work and school, and perhaps her slight problem with procrastinating. She lived with her mother, Sayuri, and her step-father, Tanaka. Kagome's biological father had died from a crack-cocaine overdose when she was only five years of age. She couldn't remember much about him, considering Sayuri had divorced him when he first became involved with drugs shortly after Kagome was born. During the years before his death, Kagome saw him only a couple times per year at awkward family gatherings. When Kagome was 7 years old her mom remarried Tanaka Higurashi, and a year later they had a son named Souta.
About 45 minutes later, after Kagome's morning ritual was complete and she had eaten breakfast and dressed for school, Kagome headed out the door yelling goodbye to her family. Her little brother was still at home considering his elementary school didn't start until about half an hour later. Buyo, Kagome's fluffy cat, was sun bathing on her driveway. It was a surprisingly lovely day, almost warm enough to not wear a winter coat. Actually, the whole winter had been very mild, only receiving snow a couple times in January so far. Kagome continued walking, taking the shortcut through Hunter's Forest, making sure to not get her shoes dirty on the dirt path. Kagome simply wore some low rise jeans and a green zippy-up sweatshirt - a black tank top underneath. Her entire closet consisted of about 10 pairs of similar jeans, and then random t-shirts and casual tops. She always looked good, but never overdone. Her long wavy hair was always properly groomed, and she always wore a slight bit of eyeliner and mascara. Emerging from the forest, Kagome heard the first bell ring signifying that there was 10 minutes till the start of class. Picking up the pace, Kagome reached the school with only a moment to spare. It was the first day of class, so she had to make a good impression! She opened her locker, shoving her coat inside before rushing off to first period - Physics. Kagome flung the door open to her classroom just as the bell rang and the morning announcements began. The seats were all taken of course - everyone knew to get to school earlier on the first day of a new semester in order to get a good seat. Kagome sighed and began to walk to the only available seat right in front of the teacher's desk.
“Psst! Kagome!” Kagome swirled around and noticed 2 girls huddled at the back of the classroom, each of them already seated with an empty seat between them.
“Sango! Rin!” Kagome's grin grew as she began to walk to the back of the classroom before shoving her backpack under her seat and settling in. She looked back and forth between her 2 best friends. Sango was a strong willed girl with long dark hair that she often wore in a high pony tail. She was rather athletic and very straightforward. Whenever Kagome needed to have a good long talk about her life and her problems, she always knew Sango was up for it. On Kagome's other side sat Rin, a cute girl who constantly laughed at everything! She was always cheerful and had a positive outlook on life. Rin could come off as appearing rather girly and feminine, yet she was very down-to-earth.
Physics went by rather uneventfully; the teacher reviewing the science lab rules and outline of the course. The 3 friends sat at the back, attempting to pay attention to the monotone droning of the man at the head of the class, yet eventually falling into hushed whispers. Kagome, Sango, and Rin gossiped about the latest couples and outrageous stunts that their fellow students had pulled over the break. The three friends had been undivided since they first met in grade 9, and had immediately worked their way up the social ladder of their high school. Everyone knew of the 3 beautiful girls who excelled in school and out of it. Though they received constant attention from the males at Midoriko High, they were all single. In their spare time they could be found at the mall, the nearest WacDonalds, or the hottest party. All three girls were social butterflies who were relatively liked by all they encountered.
After class Rin burst through the Physics lab door, Sango and Kagome following close behind. Kagome only halfheartedly listened as Rin blabbed on about the cute new shirt she had bought, while she looked at her schedule to see what her next class was. Finally reaching their lockers, Kagome began to dig through the pile of random objects in hers - attempting to locate her art kit.
“So yeah, it's got this really cute orange flower on the side. The yellow will look really good in the summer and everything - but I can't really wear it yet `cause it's still pretty cold and miserable out...” Rin continued, Kagome just beginning to pay attention now.
“Cuuute! I haven't been shopping in like, 2 weeks! We've gotta go soon, I really want some new shoes. Anyways, I've got 18th Century History right now, anyone have it with me?” Sango replied.
“Eww! History sounds terrible. No, thankfully I've got art - something actually enjoyable after that awful Physics class,” Kagome joked, poking Sango as she mentioned her class.
“Kagome, you know I love History. Besides, its way better than sitting around doodling pictures!” Sango shot back, giggling as Kagome feigned a hurt look.
“Alright you two! That's enough. I've got an Economics class, so it looks like we're all going our separate ways right now. Meet here after for lunch.” Rin laughed, closing her locker and turning to walk down the crowded hallway. The other girls quickly followed suit and headed in opposite directions.
An hour and a half later, the girls were leaving the school and walking towards WacDonald's for lunch. Sango had her head in a textbook while Kagome and Rin chatted mindlessly about their previous classes. They arrived at the fast food joint and quickly ordered the usual, taking a seat near the window so that they could watch the other students hurrying by.
“So Kagome, have you talked to Hojo since you got back?” Rin asked before shoving a couple fries in her mouth.
“Pfft! Oh Kami.. Hojo! No, I refuse to talk to that jerk! We all know now that all he wants is sex. I bitched at him before the break about how he shouldn't come over to my house to ONLY play strip-pool, and how I need to be in relationship before I do anything serious! You know what he asked me that night he came over? He asked if I'm a virgin! And when I said that I am of course, he asked `Would you like me to change that?'. Honestly, why is it impossible to find a guy who doesn't want you for the sole purpose of spreading your legs!?” Kagome raged.
About a month earlier she had met a senior named Hojo. At first they had talked, and he seemed to be a relatively nice guy. He was always polite and rather comical, if not a little boring at times. Kagome had invited him over one night when her family was out of town, and they had begun to play pool in her basement. After a small argument about who was a better pool shark, they agreed to bet - the stipulation being a game of strip pool. Needless to say, after a short period of time the pool game was forgotten and relocated to the couch. Things got a bit heated, but after the previous certain remarks made by Hojo, Kagome quickly got things under control and Hojo left her house shortly after.
“Wow... I can't believe someone would be so rude as to ask that! Does he honestly think that you'll sleep with him when you're not even in a relationship! And when you've just met him!? And when you're a virgin right now!? The first time is supposed to be special, something you'll never forget with someone you'll never want to forget.” Rin replied.
“Aw, cute Rin. Cute.” Sango muttered sarcastically, poking fun at the fact that Rin was always so romantic and believed in fairytale scenarios. Laughing, Kagome said,
“You're right though, Rin. And do you know what he said after I bitched at him for trying to completely use me? `You got a free pool lesson out of it!' Can you believe it! What an asshole!” Kagome ranted, an angry glint now in her eyes.
“Jeez.. Yeah, I'm proud of you Kagome for getting rid of him. He doesn't deserve you anyways.” Sango attempted to console her friend. Rin and Sango continued to insult Hojo while Kagome ate and nodded in agreement. Suddenly, Rin let out a gasp.
“We're 20 minutes late for class! Why didn't you guys notice! C'mon, let's go!!”
“Rin, don't you remember? Me and you have had spares scheduled for this period since the beginning of the school year! And Sango went to the guidance councilor last week in order to change her spare to this period as well. We've got extended lunch!” Kagome replied, rolling her eyes. Rin always had the tendency to forget things like this. Rin only sighed in relief, smiling when her friends began to laugh at her.
~*~*~*~*~*~
After lunch, the girls departed from their lockers yet again in search of their final class. Kagome had English, and Sango and Rin both had Math together. When Kagome finally reached room 122, she noticed all the other students crowded at the front of the class. Sighing, she figured that this certain teacher must have a seating plan. She waited patiently with Eri, Ayame, and the other girls in her class for the bell to ring. Ms Martin, a young attractive teacher entered the classroom with a list in her hands and immediately began calling out names for attendance. After she called out a name, she'd point at a certain desk and the student would walk over, sit down, and situate them self.
“Kagome Higurashi.”
Kagome raised her hand slightly, and when Ms Martin noticed her she pointed to a seat halfway back, directly at the side by the window. Ms Martin continued to call out names and place the students, marking off who was absent or present in the process.
“Well, I think that's everyone. If you'd all just turn to page 13 in your textbooks we can get started-” She was abruptly cut off as the door burst open, a tall figure with long silver hair swaggering inside.
“Sorry miss, couldn't find the classroom.” The boy explained, a hint of sarcasm in his voice and a grin on his face. That face.. so smooth and flawless with perfect lips, a wet tongue appearing only for a brief second to wet them before he grinned even wider. He brushed his bangs to the side to reveal hypnotizing amber eyes, glancing around at the students who were all staring at him in awe and disbelief. No one was surprised of course; this type of behavior was expected when dealing with him.
“Late on the first day of a new semester! Don't make this a habit, Inuyasha. Just be good for me this year please... or I won't be able to handle you.” Ms Martin replied, attempting to sound strict, yet her amusement was clearly visible on her face.
“What are you talking about? I'm always good.” He answered, winking before breaking into a mischievous full-out smile. A couple people actually laughed at this statement, knowing all too well that he was anything but `always good'. Ms Martin only chuckled slightly before pointing to an empty desk.
“Sit there Inuyasha; the seat in front of Kagome Higurashi.”
Still smiling, Inuyasha removed his headphones that had been concealed under his hair before walking over to the side of the classroom, staring at Kagome all the while.
“Kagome? This should be fun, ne? What's up?” Inuyasha asked, adjusting his baggy jeans and red T-shirt before dropping into his seat, tossing his backpack against the wall and turning around to face her better. Kagome stared wide-eyed at him, opening her mouth to reply before she was cut off by the teacher.
“Inuyasha!! Stop talking or I'll have to send you to the office. Page 13 now please!”
Inuyasha flashed Kagome a smile and stuck his tongue out to the side before turning back around to face the front. Letting out a breath that Kagome was unaware she had been holding, she fumbled through her bag to retrieve her textbook. Ms Martin began a lecture about Shakespeare while the class dosed off. However, Kagome was staring intently at the boy in front of her - his silver hair glistening in the afternoon sunlight that poured through the classroom window.
This should be fun, ne?

Well, there you go. Review if you like it, and tell me if you want me to continue with it or not. So far, it's all relatively true, based on my experiences. I think it's coming along nicely, but REVIEW please and tell me what you think!
