"Gramps! Mama! Souta!"
School registration was tomorrow and it was so unusual for nobody to be around.
"I'm home!"
She had to select her courses carefully. Scholarships and grants for college were on the line… and she would have to double the effort to switch gears between her feudal expedition and the duldrom of the classroom.
This year was graduation and still, reluctant about the future, Kagome hadn't decided on a curriculum. The difficulty level was theoretically supposed to prepare her for a higher education and her indecisiveness on the matter weighed on her mind.
Sighing, she thought on other matters.
There were the shards, her friends, her enemies, her family and her life to consider. Hopefully, she wouldn't have the hassle of choosing between modern life and feudal life.
One way or another, the Shikon no Tama, Jewel of Four Souls, would be complete and a wish would be made… Hopefully, Naraku wouldn't beat their gang to it.
Maybe the well will stay open…
If it were possible, her choice was the best of both worlds.
Hopping the stair rail she ran up to her room to change out of her soiled clothes.
Where is everyone?
She startled when the phone rang.
"Higurashi speaking."
"Kagome? Is that you? I heard about your grandpa!" It was one of her friends.
Huh?
Thinking quickly, she answered, "Uhhgh… I was sleeping under the influence of these antibodies prescribed, so, I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about."
"You…you don't know?"
"What's wrong, Eri? What happened?"
Okay, now I'm starting to worry!
"I'm really surprised that you aren't aware of…"
"Would you spill already?"
If it was so important why was Eri stalling?
"He's in the hospital! He had a stroke and went to the - Kagome?"
She already hung up the phone. This was an emergency…and she didn't have the patience or time to meddle around the house. Luckily, the hospital was a mere few blocks away.
She'd be damned if she didn't pay a visit.

His reasons were not of great consequence.
Whether he conquered life or whether he conquered death… all the same, he was the victor. His will was his own.
That boy…
That boy shadowed him much like Rin. It had been a full eight days since Kohaku resolved to choose… this path.
He questioned none of his followers.
Grunting, he continued his silent march forward. For the time, none in his company were conversing - not even Jaken.
The last two nights he meditated on some kind of employment for this newly acquired taijia. Finally making a decision…
Kohaku was to remain knowledgeable about Naraku's targets and tactics, including those used against Inuyasha's band of hunters, the corpse priestess, and eventually, the wolf demon tribe.
As for Naraku?
He is an insolent deranged swine.
I will deal the death blow when the opportune moment is afforded.
He would wait, yet, another day.
