InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ To Perish Once More ❯ II: Chapter Four: Proposition ( Chapter 29 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Disclaimer: Youkai and hanyous were never once my idea to begin with, and unfortunately, neither are any of the Inu-Yasha characters. Simply put, this story is my creation, of sorts, *especially* my OCs. Without the talents of Ms. Takahashi there would be no hope for us bizarre wanna-bes.

He had killed before - of course.

It was, after all, a natural occurrence.

Truly, it was pitiful that such creatures fell to their deaths so quickly, zealously, and shamelessly.

Never had the surprised near illicit gasp been the expected reaction from the latest addition to his followers when, with a single strike, he had severed off heads from hordes of lesser creatures that sought to mindlessly interfere with the handling of his affairs and attack his - albeit it small and essentially useless - entourage.

They hadn't even deserved the swift clean cut of this blade.

He reasoned.

It was absurd, really, that such weaklings thought to even position them selves against him and risk his ire….

But he came here with a purpose, not to muse over his forlorn thoughts.

First, the boy needed to do something… anything. He was restless, fidgeting, exuding enormous waves of absurd discomfit again, and down right unnerving.

There was a simple solution for that.

“Kohaku, seek out the wolf prince and request his compliance to greet me at my will.”

“Yes, Lord Sesshoumaru.”

It would serve to suffice for the boy to pass time…preferably constructive - else where.

Continuing up the mountain slope to his destination, he bristled at the familiar reek of incense, fetid spiritual power, and charred ashes.

Hand on Tokijin's hilt he commanded Rin and Aun to return to the base of the mountain and head east until they came upon a stream… then wait for his return.

Jaken, though trembling blathering foolish vassel that he was, stayed reliably at his side - a circumstance expected of the dolt at all times - in order to learn the information that he him self wanted knowledge of.

He would not repeat words spoken to him, when unnecessary. Most certainly, it was an unsuitable ill-fated deed to send him away like the others.

Pausing, as he presented his outward ceremony as nothing more passing than extreme world-weariness, he braced him self for the encounter guaranteed to surface as they turned a vicarious bend in the path he chose.

Stance set with defensive footing he pulled Tokijin from its scabbard gripping it firmly and snorted at the pathetic rubbish of a dark magician posing as a hierarchal monk that dared to remain motionless in front of him.

The monk - what ever he was - vile, filthy and none the less disgusting, was attempting to bait and ensnare him already with his unspoken riddles. The body language was revolting - too egotistical for the defiled position he sold his soul to bare.

He almost executed the bastard right there.

“So, you're a lord seeking to become king of his own kingdom?”

It is as good of a time as any…Even with Naraku crouching in shadows, then over throwing and uniting the chiefs and governors of clans many times over.

“To rule an empire - why is that?”

As if I need to gratify this low-life

“No answer, eh? Very well. I did not actually anticipate that you would be so much inclined to respond,”

Words…

Glaring, he scarcely intensified control on his sword. To his absolute disdain, the bastard seemed unobservant to his subtle demonstration.

“Then, I will be quick to honor your time here and answer the inquiries for which you presumably seek.”

“Kurokeikeno.”

“You recall my name, I see. Am I wrong? Is that not why you have come, Lord Sesshoumaru?”

He wouldn't waste his breath or time any longer.

“Tell me of the remnant of Kodaitaisei.”

His words repulse me.

“The Ancient Order, my lord?”

He was exhausted by such brazen disregard and foul aura - stanched with false surprise and meager attempts to appease any nuisance of an offense deliberately invoked untoward his regaled self.

Detestable...

The dark sorcerer was not even worthy enough to be considered an amusement.

“Its existence is no longer. Perhaps naught but three-quarters of a century has passed, my lord, when the eldest and most feared of such mystical creatures were vanquished into extinction.

“There was only one female that mysteriously remained in that clan. Though young, beautiful, desirous, fierce as a warrior, and envied among the highest societies in her clan's species and with out, it eventually became realized that she was a barren female.

He repulses me.

“Many healers throughout the country - and even some foreign healers - intervened on her behalf when her liege could not contain his distemper at the bearing of such ill news. Her inability to produce heir or heiress provoked unrest within her clan and unorthodox methods of procreation were sought after to replenish the dwindling numbers therein.”

“Unfortunate.”

He is a louse…

“Yes, my lord. When ever the Elder learned of her condition, at the commission of loyal respectable healers, they declared and confirmed the diagnosis; after which, he fell into a viscous rage slaughtering all kinsman in the hopes of cleansing the family line.

“A quarter century later, the woman of such scorned scrutiny formed a lover's bond with an unidentified - perhaps mythical - being outside the clan, for which she was chastised.

An illness…

“Though the elder did not approve of the apparent union, there was nothing to be said for punishing her or attempting to persuade her otherwise. The identity of her lover was never revealed or uncovered - even during the rise that overtook the last of the clan - her self included.”

“I have heard of this woman… what is her name?”

“Her name, my lord? But of course, you do not dally to ask vain, impertinent questions. Forgive my lapse in judgment. Her name is Meishenshi.”

A festering wound…

“Indeed.”

He had already memorialized her memory and knew of her parentage.

“Might you wish to search for the Ancients' grave, my lord?”

“I wish for nothing.”

He did not make this journey to reminiscence.

“Of course not, my lord.”

He reeks of mischief and blood…

“Kurokeikeno, it would not be wise to follow for I shall slaughter you where you stand.”

He turned his back to the dark monk as a mocking dare.

Kurokeikeno will not ignore this…

“It matters not whom, but you will require a human priestess sympathetic to your plight. I do not claim to know why a holy man or sorcerer's spiritual power can not do what you seek, but it is a priestess, nonetheless, who can unlock that key.”

“Kagi no Kodaitaisei?”

I shall defeat his antics…

“Yes, my lord… I do not know precisely how the lock works, but I am aware that there are several items of power that must be in your possession in order for you to obtain that which is desired.”

…Then eliminate his existence.

For now, his desire was had; he would return to complete his mission.

Tuning his acute senses, he noted Jaken eyeing the magician suspiciously and silently, before resuming their travel.

Out of ear-shot, he waited until well past a relatively safe distance for them to speak.

“Jaken, are you not aware of the wolf demon leader's particular fondness for one of Inuyasha's humans?”

“Milord?”

Good. He understands what I want.

“I will not sully my claws with the likeness of such mortals.”

“Lord Sesshoumaru! That wolf demon is a wild one! Are you certain of what you plan, milord?”

He would not have his plans soiled.

“Do you doubt his allegiance?”

Jaken would know. He would be honest - even though anything said might, in the end, leave his head chopped and filleted, served on a silver platter. Everything said; everything else left unsaid was trustworthy enough for this objective.

“Let me go, milord! I shall settle this for you myself!”

So, he thinks it shall be difficult to convince the wolf-demon leader.

“We are not so far, Jaken. Let us leave now.”

Interesting.

There was none of the usual groveling, prattling, or stumbling; it was almost peaceful save the scent of the wind sorceress wafting through the air and the faint clank of weapons in the direction they were headed.

Very interesting…
